Chapter 121: Chapter 121: There is Still Some Wealth Left
Dawn was gradually breaking, and Yusuf Zuck sat dozing outside the operating room. After bringing the injured young man to the hospital, he immediately paid the security deposit for admission, the emergency treatment fee, and other expenses. Rushing up and down the floors, he was kept on his feet for a full hour.
He was exhausted, and since he hadn’t really slept much the night before, he dozed off as soon as he had a chance to sit down and wait for news outside the surgery room.
By now, his hand was wrapped in gauze, a kind gesture from the charitable night shift nurse who bandaged it for free, simply out of goodwill.
When Yusuf first brought in the injured young man, the hospital had no idea what his name was, or his age; Yusuf didn’t know either. It was only after the doctor inquired that they learned Yusuf had passed by and rescued the man, thus acting as a Good Samaritan who also helped with the young man’s various medical expenses.
Such acts of kindness naturally earned the respect of others. Therefore, both the doctors and the nurses at the hospital had a very good impression of him, which made it no big deal for them to treat his injured hand for free.
"Mr. Zuck, the surgery has come to a temporary stop," said the doctor who walked out of the operating room and gently woke him as he was dozing off outside.
"Oh, how did it go? The guy’s not dead, right?" Yusuf immediately stood up and asked.
"There is currently no life-threatening danger, but you should try to get in touch with his family. His follow-up treatment requires a craniotomy, which carries a huge risk."
"Where am I supposed to find his family? He didn’t have any ID on him, and I have no idea where his phone got lost..." Yusuf felt a splitting headache arising. The young man had no ID on him, and his phone was lost somewhere, leaving Yusuf with no way to contact the young man’s family.
"Let’s do this," the doctor pondered, then said, "Our hospital will proactively contact the traffic police department to inquire about the identity of the car owner involved in last night’s incident, to see if we can find something."
"Okay, you guys go ahead and contact them. If you can’t get hold of anyone, then we can figure something out," Yusuf knew all too well that a craniotomy was too risky. If the patient died on the operating table without family consent, the hospital would be liable, so they weren’t willing to take the risk.
"Sure, and how’s your hand now? Do you want to rest for a bit in my office?" the doctor asked with a smile.
"No need for that. I have to get going. I have a lot of errands to run today. However, I’ll leave you my phone number. If by any chance you can’t reach his family later on, I’ll come back. I’m the one who saved him, and I can’t abandon him halfway. Thus, whatever it takes, I must do my best."
"Mr. Zuck, we need more people like you spreading positive energy in our society. On behalf of the patient’s family, I want to thank you. Rest assured, even if the patient’s family isn’t located, we will do our utmost to maintain his vital signs," the doctor said.
"Right, my phone number is this one. If there’s a shortage of funds, you can contact me." Yusuf had deposited a full one hundred thousand as a security, and now money was not an issue for him. After all, when saving a life, he wouldn’t let money become a reason to only go halfway.
Yusuf wrote down his phone number on the nursing station’s service desk blackboard, shook hands with the doctor, and then turned to leave.
He did indeed have many things to attend to today. Firstly, he had an appointment with Bryce Harper, who was also planning to take him to meet a well-respected feng shui master.
Secondly, his sister, Mia, was arriving in the capital city at ten in the morning, and he had to pick her up.
Thirdly, he needed to get an HSBC bank card as Mia was going to make a transfer to him, so it was going to be another busy day.
As Yusuf walked away briskly, the young nurse who had bandaged his hand took out her phone and saved the number he had written on the blackboard.
Yusuf was affluent, having made the hundred-thousand deposit without batting an eye. Plus, when the nurse bandaged him, Yusuf placed his car keys on the table, and the nurse had seen the Land Rover logo.
So almost subconsciously, the young nurse saved his phone number. It was rare to come across someone young, wealthy, and kind-hearted, so she figured it might be worth asking him out if the opportunity ever arose.
After descending the stairs, Yusuf Zuck washed his face in the hospital restroom, which disrupted his plans to head to the Ruiz Family market early in the morning.
Having eaten breakfast near the hospital and gotten back into his car, Yusuf Zuck called Samuel Ross to ask about the conditions of his colleagues from security, and of course, the main thing he wanted to know was whether HSBC would take responsibility.
"Everyone’s fine, those who needed surgery got it, and HSBC’s finance department arrived at the hospital early this morning to pay all the hospitalization fees. HSBC is a big international company, so even with a change of owners, they wouldn’t neglect such matters—they care about their reputation."
"Hmm, that’s a relief to hear!" Yusuf Zuck let out a deep sigh. If HSBC hadn’t taken care of it, he would have because that was the decent thing to do. He wouldn’t have involved himself if he didn’t have money, but with the resources at his disposal, it was unthinkable not to help these brothers he’d worked with.
"All the guys send their thanks to you, and quite a few even want to join you. They’re asking if you’re hiring?" Samuel Ross whispered.
"Hiring my ass." Yusuf Zuck said, laughing and crying: "Right now, I don’t even have a damn stall set up. What would I need people for?"
"Got it, I thought as much, so I rejected them for you last night," Samuel Ross laughed.
"Samuel, my sister’s coming back today. You saw it too yesterday, people are looking for me. To be honest with you, the day before yesterday, I beat someone up—some guy named Bud Trujillo. Don’t know if you’ve heard of him, but those coming after me are probably his lot."
"So I’ve got another enemy. Life isn’t going to be easy from here on out. For my sister’s sake, I’m counting on you, Bryce Harper, and Mia. Of course, I’ll sort everything out as quickly as I can!"
"Bud Trujillo? You mean Bud Trujillo?" Samuel Ross suddenly mentioned Bud Trujillo’s name over the phone, his lips trembling. Couldn’t Yusuf Zuck stop being so reckless? Why was he always picking fights with big figures in society?
"Yeah, him. I smacked him one, might’ve even knocked out his teeth," Yusuf Zuck said with a laugh.
"Man, why do you always have to hit these big shots? Can’t you stop giving me heart attacks? Bud Trujillo, man..." Samuel Ross was at a loss for words. Life was indeed going to get tougher.
"Ha, Bud or Happy, what do I care? What’s done is done; I’m not worried. I didn’t find him last night, but if I had, I would’ve demanded more compensation for medical expenses. Two thousand per person is a gesture of goodwill for the brothers, but for medical bills, lost wages, mental anguish, and the like, Bud Trujillo’s got to pay up. Let him feel the pinch for half a year!"
"Alright, you just worry about your sister; we’ll make sure she’s completely safe," Samuel Ross said, chuckling over the phone.
"Right," Yusuf Zuck nodded. "In a few days, there’s another fortune coming our way. I’ll share some with you, Bryce Harper, and Mia then!"
"Another fortune? What is it?" Samuel Ross immediately became excited. He knew that sticking with Yusuf Zuck was the right move—the prosperous days were on the horizon.
"Just wait and see. You’ll need to put in some effort," Yusuf Zuck said, and then hung up the phone. The wealth he referred to lay underneath the new shop he had rented, in a large jar, because it was a "Treasure jar." He had seen everything inside the jar using telekinesis, so once excavated, it was going to be a windfall.
