Invisible Security Guard -
Chapter 1193 - 1192: The Faceless Man
Chapter 1193: Chapter 1192: The Faceless Man
The Stone Man Array consisted of six challenges, six three-way junctions, and a total of eighteen stone statues. Yusuf Zuck had enslaved all but two of the stone statues from the first challenge, meaning he now had seventeen stone minions.
Unfortunately, he couldn’t take even one stone minion with him.
Of course, this scoundrel knew no limits to his cunning, so starting from the second challenge of the Stone Man Array, he gathered the three stone minions at each junction to guard it.
Anyone wishing to pass through would have to face the combined attack of three stone minions.
It could be said that this was a devastating move! A single stone minion was already overwhelmingly powerful, let alone three guarding in unity? Therefore, any high-level expert from the six realms who thought they could pass was simply dreaming.
Yusuf, along with Porter Burch and his clone, entered the third layer, and as soon as they did, they were both momentarily blinded by three beams of golden light.
After adapting for a moment, Yusuf and Porter Burch were finally able to see the source of the three golden lights. In front of them stood three mountain peaks, and on top of each peak, it seemed that a sword was planted, the golden light emanating from these summit swords!
"What kind of swords are those?" Yusuf and Porter Burch gaped, the swords seemed even sharper than Divine Artifacts.
"Master, we’re rich, we’re rich! If we can get those three swords, we can kill anyone who blocks us, be they man or god!" Porter Burch shouted excitedly.
"Exactly, let’s split up and go for the swords!" Yusuf also exclaimed excitedly, leaping towards the left peak, while Porter Burch headed for the middle peak and the clone towards the right one.
Moments later, as Yusuf reached about thirty meters from the peak, he suddenly ’bang!’ collided with an invisible wall of energy and was sent flying backward, his whole body vibrating as if his bones were about to fall apart.
As Yusuf lay on the ground, his eyes rolling upwards in frustration, it became clear why the three Treasure Swords were so conspicuously placed atop the peaks – there were prohibitive spells on the mountains that one couldn’t simply cross!
At the same time, both Porter Burch and the clone were repelled by the energy wall in a similar fashion, with Porter Burch’s bones nearly shattering completely and nearly dying; the clone fared slightly better.
Yusuf got up and thought for a moment, then he took out the Heaven Punishing Sword, which could pierce the air, defenses, and everything in between, so he figured it should be able to break the mountain’s prohibitions.
He approached the spot where he had been repelled and swung down with the Heavenly Slayer Sword.
"Zzz– crackle crackle crackle!" Sparks flew as the Heavenly Slayer Sword struck the prohibition, generating a harsh grating noise, but to Yusuf’s astonishment, the prohibition wasn’t broken!
"Not enough strength, again!" He gritted his teeth and slashed down with the sword once more.
"Zzz–" Sparks flew and a grating noise echoed through the valley.
Regrettably, it appeared the strength was still insufficient.
Yusuf took a deep breath. He could feel that the Heavenly Slayer Sword should be able to break the prohibition, but his own strength was limited, and he hadn’t brought out the full potential of the Heavenly Slayer Sword.
In other words, he felt like a child wielding a heavy club. His cultivation level, his power, was too weak. If he were stronger, he might truly have had the ability to break through these prohibitions!
"Grow stronger? Grow stronger?" Yusuf’s gaze sharpened, then with a flick of his wrist, the last Shariputra appeared.
He had been reluctant to use it before because he wanted to keep it in reserve for emergencies, but now, with the sight of the treasured mountain and magic treasures within reach, he needed to make himself more powerful to seize these three Magic Treasures.
Perhaps these three Magic Treasures were even more formidable than his own Heavenly Slayer Sword, considering that this was the Main God Palace and the treasures could have been used by the Main God!
"Hum hum hum–" The Shariputra came into effect, exploding into powder in a flash, and then the energy surged into the Blood Beads. With a ’pop’, the forty-ninth Blood Bead was activated!
"Huff~" Yusuf Zuck felt a clear surge as his strength once again tripled in growth; he had become three times more powerful. At the same time, he eagerly looked at the information transmitted from the forty-nine Blood Beads that he had opened.
However, upon seeing the content of the information, he was stunned, because... it was the second Chapter of Refining Treasures!
Yusuf Zuck opened his mouth, realizing he had forgotten. He remembered that when he opened twenty-nine Blood Beads, the first Chapter of Refining Treasures appeared, which allowed the refining of inanimate objects. That Chapter also clearly stated that upon reaching forty-nine beads, the second Chapter of Refining Treasures would emerge!
Yusuf Zuck felt an urge to cry but had no tears; he didn’t want to refine any treasures at the moment. He wanted to become stronger, to possess even greater Divine Skills.
He gave a cursory glance over the second Chapter of Refining Treasures, and indeed, it was more miraculous than the first Chapter—this one allowed the use of living beings’ lives to refine Magic Treasures, but the process was excessively bloody and cruel!
After just one read, Yusuf Zuck cast the method aside from his mind. The Purple Blood Beads were mysterious and magical, but also heartless. Still, since he was human, he couldn’t possibly use living creatures to refine Magic Treasures. Otherwise, how would that differ from what the Campbell Sect had done in the past with their practice of Artifact Refining using elves?
"Hmm, I’ve become three times stronger. Let’s try again!" Yusuf Zuck tried to put other thoughts out of his mind; his only aim was to break through the restriction. Thus, he lifted his sword and with a ’whoosh,’ he slashed down once more!
Flashes of fire passed by, but... Yusuf Zuck’s complexion turned pale.
Still unable to break it open!
"Again, again, again!" He struck three more times in succession, each slash at the same spot.
But the barrier was too strong. It was a restriction set by the Main God, and even with the Supreme Divine Sword, even if he was as mighty as a god, he still couldn’t break it!
Suddenly, Yusuf Zuck discovered that ever since arriving at this Main God Palace, it seemed as if he had fallen under a spell of bad luck, facing restrictions at every turn!
"Master..." Porter Burch crawled back, his entire body resembled a blood gourd, not yet dead but not far from death either.
Yusuf Zuck was torn between laughter and tears and had no choice but to feed him another drop of the Dew of Merit to quickly recover.
"Master, in the center, there’s a Stele that reads ’Three swords for those with fate...’" Porter Burch said with a desire to cry but no tears, "Neither of us is the fated one!"
"Then let it be." Yusuf Zuck flicked his palm, intending to retract the Heavenly Slayer Sword back to the Blue Sea and Cloud Sky. However, the Heavenly Slayer Sword stayed motionless in his hand!
"Damn it, I can’t retract it..." Yusuf Zuck was rendered speechless once more. Once a Magic Treasure was taken out, it couldn’t be retracted back into the body, let alone sent back to the Blue Sea and Cloud Sky, even if it was life’s magical treasure.
"Let’s go, find the entrance to the next level." He carried the sword, feeling an indescribable sense of frustration. It seemed his luck was simply awful, and this Main God Palace was too sinister.
The third layer was also quite vast. In addition to the three mountain peaks ahead, there were more mountains in the distance and a thin layer of mist that appeared and disappeared. However, since Divine Sense couldn’t be utilized, only the closer scenery could be perceived.
"Master, when I crawled back earlier, it seemed like a light flashed behind us." At this moment, Porter Burch pointed towards the opposite side of the three mountain peaks—that was where they had been before—and said, "There, it’s a valley, but there’s mist."
"Then let’s go and have a look." Yusuf Zuck strode forward while Porter Burch and the clone followed.
A moment later, the three arrived at the entrance of the misty valley, tightening up as they did so.
There was a Stele, and beneath the Stele sat a person... a person... without a face!
Indeed, this person’s body was just like that of any normal person, but his face was flat, lacking a nose, eyes, and mouth, which was quite terrifying!
And now, Porter Burch read aloud, "Those who enter the third layer will be transported away within ten days, or they may challenge the Faceless One and take one of his strikes to pass and advance to the next layer!"
