Chapter 1003: Chapter 102: Legend of the White-Haired Witch
In the inner gates of the Campbell Sect, there is a back mountain, and at that mountain, there is a lake called "Sun Moon Lake". Above the waters of Sun Moon Lake sits a lakehouse on stilts, where Aiden Wilkinson lived alone.
It seemed that no one was allowed to enter here either; the entire Sun Moon Lake area was a forbidden zone.
When the sect master approached the lakehouse courtyard with Yusuf Zuck, they descended from low altitude. However, before the sect master could even speak, a cold voice came from inside, "He stays, you leave."
"Yes, sect master, I am leaving." The sect master didn’t dare to even breathe heavily, gave Yusuf Zuck a sympathetic look, and then immediately disappeared without a trace!
As soon as the sect master left, Yusuf Zuck bowed to the inside and said, "Disciple Zayden Newton, greets the teacher!"
But... there was no response from inside, as if Aiden Wilkinson hadn’t heard him.
Yusuf Zuck cleared his throat, then raised his voice a bit and said, "Disciple Zayden Newton, greets the teacher!"
...
...
Still, there was no response from inside.
"Disciple Zayden Newton, greets the teacher!" Yusuf Zuck raised his voice again, almost shouting. What was the witch inside doing, pretending not to hear him? He had already come all this way, might as well get started with whatever training was to be had.
Aiden Wilkinson still didn’t answer.
"Disciple Zayden Newton greets the teacher..." Yusuf Zuck continued shouting, even using his energy to make the lakehouse rattle; he was doing this on purpose.
But still... Aiden Wilkinson was like a dead person, or perhaps not even there at all, giving him no response whatsoever.
"Disciple Zayden Newton... is coming in!" Since Yusuf Zuck wasn’t exactly a good man, one could even say he was a bit of a rascal, and since the other party wasn’t responding, he just went in!
"Dare to take one more step forward, and die!" The same cold voice came from inside.
"Then, disciple has seen the teacher." Yusuf Zuck was a bit annoyed. If you can hear my greeting, why the hell aren’t you acknowledging me?
"Hmm, just wait." She finally responded from inside, acknowledging him.
Yusuf Zuck took a deep breath, then stood quietly in place waiting and wondered what Aiden Wilkinson was up to. Sewing? Bathing? Reading? Solitaire? Or perhaps dreaming?
He wildly speculated, while inside, it remained terrifyingly quiet.
Gradually, it quickly became dark, and having stood all afternoon, Yusuf Zuck found it quite unbelievable. Surely, making him stand there like this wasn’t the way things should be, right?
"Teacher, it’s getting dark, should I come back tomorrow?" Yusuf Zuck tried asking.
"Wait." Aiden Wilkinson, as sparing with her words as ever, continued to have him wait.
After it turned completely dark, a slight mist started to form above the waters of Sun Moon Lake, and the area felt peculiarly chilly. Before long, Yusuf Zuck felt damp all over.
He moved his body a bit and then with a shake, dried off the dampness; finally, he stopped standing foolishly in place. Aiden Wilkinson only told him to wait but didn’t say he couldn’t move, right?
So, with a wave of his hand, he took out a fishing rod from Jade Sea, which he had made himself back in the Lower Realm while with his family.
After getting his fishing rod, he then took a dried fruit from some herbs, sweet and fragrant, suitable for fishing.
Sure enough, as soon as the fruit hit the water, many small fish came to snatch it up, but his hook was a bit too large for the small fish to swallow.
Gradually, the hook reached the deeper bottom as Yusuf Zuck continued to let out line, and he suddenly discovered that the water here was over two hundred meters deep.
After the hook hit the bottom, finally, no small fish were bothering him, and he wasn’t really fishing just to pass the time.
What he didn’t expect was that while he was idly surveying the surrounding scenery, suddenly, with a ’whoosh’ sound, the fishing rod in his hand was pulled away by a fish!
"Big fish, haha!" Yusuf Zuck laughed jovially. In this two-hundred-meter-deep spot, it must be a big fish, so like a dragonfly skimming the water, he stepped on the lake surface, grabbed the fishing rod, and quickly reeled in the line.
The fish was really big, and the fishing rod bent into a bow shape while the fishing line sizzled incessantly.
Yusuf Zuck was afraid that the rod or line would break, so he didn’t use too much force and reeled in slowly.
After a while, a red fish about six to seven meters long emerged from the water. Yusuf Zuck swallowed hard—it was a giant red koi!
After the red koi surfaced, it stopped struggling. Instead, it looked at Yusuf Zuck with two glittering eyes. Moreover, the hook hadn’t caught its mouth; it was merely pulling the line with its fins, the hook long gone.
"Auntie, who is this person, and why is he so mean?" Suddenly, the red koi spoke in human tongue, in a crisp girl’s voice, asking who Yusuf Zuck was.
Yusuf Zuck jumped in shock, letting go of the fishing rod, which then fell into the water.
Damn, the koi had really turned into a spirit, able to speak, and was calling her auntie? Was Aiden Wilkinson inside her auntie?
Tomas, Tomas, could Aiden Wilkinson also be a fish spirit? But spirits are demons, and the Campbell Sect shouldn’t have demons, right?
"Had enough fun?"
With a creak, the door of the wooden house finally opened, and out came a woman in a white dress with long snowy hair.
The woman was tall and, despite her white hair, her face resembled that of a twenty-year-old, and she was stunningly beautiful like a fairy from the paintings. She looked at Yusuf Zuck coldly, asking if he had had enough fun.
"I’ve seen the teacher!" Yusuf Zuck quickly jumped back to the yard and bowed to Aiden Wilkinson.
The red koi spirit seemed to realize something was off with her aunt, so it disappeared with a splash.
"You’re full of energy." Aiden Wilkinson looked at Yusuf Zuck coldly and said, "Turn around."
"Yes." Yusuf Zuck didn’t know what this woman was planning, but she seemed afraid of him looking at something.
"Do you see that tall mountain ahead of you?" Aiden Wilkinson asked sternly.
"I see it, it’s so tall and big." Yusuf Zuck nodded repeatedly.
"The mountain is covered with wild grass. Go and pull out the grass, but you must not harm the trees or the medicinal herbs. As a disciple of the Alchemy College, you should know what’s a herb and what’s wild grass. I give you one day and one night. If by this time tomorrow night you haven’t finished, then go back to your Alchemy College, because you aren’t welcome here!"
"Teacher, this is physical punishment." Yusuf Zuck’s scalp tingled instantly—he mustn’t harm trees or herbs, so he couldn’t use his Divine Skills and had to pull the grass by hand. And such a large mountain, how could he clear it in a day and a night? This woman was just tormenting him, too mean!
"You may choose not to pull, then leave now," Aiden Wilkinson said sharply.
"I won’t leave, nor will I pull." Yusuf Zuck shook his head, "Even if I started now, I couldn’t finish by tomorrow, so, no matter if I do it or not, you want to send me away anyway, right?"
"You haven’t even tried, how do you know it can’t be done?" Aiden Wilkinson said coldly, "Someone who faces difficulty and doesn’t even have the courage to try doesn’t deserve to be taught cultivation by me!"
Hearing Aiden Wilkinson’s words, Yusuf Zuck was choked up, realizing that her eloquence surpassed his.
"Alright, I’ll give it a try." With a sigh, Yusuf Zuck relented. He couldn’t just roll back on his arrival; otherwise, if he went back to the Alchemy College, he would be mocked to death. Luke Gardner had also said before that if he couldn’t pass Aiden Wilkinson’s test, he would be expelled from the sect, and he hadn’t taken Luke Gardner for a joker.
Of course, he had always wanted to systematically study and train over the years, but he lacked a good teacher. So if this White-Haired Witch really had the skills, following her to cultivate would indeed be a good thing.
As his thoughts raced, he no longer argued with Aiden Wilkinson, but turned and flew towards the high mountain ahead while the white-haired Aiden Wilkinson, after a moment of contemplation in the courtyard, also turned back towards the wooden house!
However, just as she was pushing the door open, a noise of something cutting through the air came from behind her.
She turned around annoyedly, looking with a hint of disgust at Zayden Newton flying back.
"Teacher, I’ve finished pulling!" Yusuf Zuck said with a grin.
