99: Chapter 095: Husband and Wife United Against Outsiders 99: Chapter 095: Husband and Wife United Against Outsiders Half an hour later, Ye Fan and Bobo walked out of Gulan Martial Arts Hall.
It was mealtime so they drove off to have lunch together.
Since they chatted while eating, and Bobo was quite talkative, it was past one o’clock by the time they finished.
As they approached the car, Ye Fan said, “That’s enough for today.”
“Big Brother Ye, are you really not going to come shopping with me?” Bobo put on a pitiful look and pleaded while shaking Ye Fan’s arm, “It’s boring and unsafe to go alone.”
Ye Fan replied, “What’s a grown man like me doing shopping?
Go find Yaoyao.
And remember, you have to help me seek your master’s forgiveness, I’m still planning to regularly practice at Gulan Martial Arts Hall.”
“No help!
If you’re not shopping with me, I’m not helping you,” Bobo pouted with her pink, sexy lips.
Ye Fan chuckled, released his arm from Bobo’s grip, and said, “Go find Yaoyao.
I have to go back now.”
With that, he opened the car door and got in.
After closing the door, he rolled down the window, popped his head out and said, “Bobo, goodbye.”
“No goodbye!” Bobo responded with a hint of moodiness.
Ye Fan shook his head with a smile, pulled his head back in, and then drove off.
Watching Ye Fan’s car truly leave, Bobo stood stomping her foot and mumbling curse words, “Bad Big Brother Ye, stinky Big Brother Ye, not accompanying someone shopping, I will not hang out with you anymore!
Humph!”
…
…
At five in the afternoon, Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun went together to visit Old Master Li.
Stepping onto the second floor hallway of the red-walled building, Li Zhaojun paused and said coolly, “Hold my hand.”
Ye Fan nodded.
The act must go on.
Thus, he gently held Li Zhaojun’s hand and they walked together towards Old Master Li’s suite.
The main door was open.
Seeing that Old Master Li was not in the living room, and neither was Liu Tiezhu who looked after him, Li Zhaojun quickly withdrew her hand.
However, there was still one person sitting in the living room.
That person seemed to have heard their footsteps, turned his head to look over.
Ye Fan sized him up, a youth approximately twenty-four or twenty-five years old, with good-looking facial features and slightly handsome, but his hair was heavily gelled into a meticulous parting which looked almost too perfect.
He was dressed sharply in prestigious international brands, and sported a million-dollar Patek Philippe watch on his wrist.
His uneven smirk immediately brought the word “profligate” to mind.
“Who is he?” Ye Fan asked Li Zhaojun quietly, turning his head.
With a cold face and toneless voice, Li Zhaojun said, “My cousin, Li Bangzhe.
Don’t bother with him.”
“Let’s go in,” she said, and stepped into the living room.
Ye Fan found it strange how coldly Li Zhaojun treated her cousin, but he didn’t have time to think more about it, and followed her inside.
Li Bangzhe, seeing his cousin Li Zhaojun, didn’t stand up to greet her, but instead looked interestedly at Ye Fan’s plain clothes, the twisted corner of his mouth carrying a sneer.
As they entered the living room, Li Zhaojun headed towards Old Master Li’s room, to which Li Bangzhe finally spoke, “Grandfather is resting.
Don’t disturb him.”
Li Zhaojun, as if she had heard nothing, continued straight into Old Master Li’s room without pause.
Seeing the interaction between the cousins, Ye Fan could tell their relationship was extraordinarily strained.
Ye Fan placed the fruits nicely on a wooden sofa and sat down, noticing Li Bangzhe scoffing towards the doorway of Old Master Li’s room.
Then, Li Bangzhe’s gaze landed on Ye Fan, and with an air of superiority, he asked, “So, you are Li Zhaojun’s fiancé?
What’s your name, Ye something?”
It turned out that although Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun had obtained their marriage certificate, they had not officially held a wedding banquet.
Li Zhaojun had always been marginalized in the Li family, so most of the Li family members knew only that she was marrying someone from the Ye family, without paying much other attention.
While most believe that although Li Zhaojun married into the Ye family, they still see Ye Fan as a peripheral member of the Ye family without any significant status.
After all, Ye Fan had entered the military very early and hardly had any interactions with the Crown Prince circle of the Forty-nine City, and no one from the Ye family even knew of Ye Fan’s existence.
Ye Fan, with a faint smile, leaned back on the sofa, crossed his arms over his chest, and said, “According to seniority, you should call me ‘brother-in-law.'”
“Don’t joke, you think you’re worthy?” Li Bangzhe disdainfully said.
“There is no question of worthiness when it comes to seniority, it is what it is,” Ye Fan replied indifferently.
“Would you think your father unworthy of being your father if one day you made a name for yourself?”
“How dare you compare yourself to my father?” Li Bangzhe said slightly angrily.
Ye Fan casually shrugged his shoulders and said calmly, “I never said I was comparing myself to your father.”
“Hmph!” Li Bangzhe snorted coldly and arrogantly turned his head away from Ye Fan.
At that moment, Li Zhaojun emerged from old Master Li’s room and sat down beside Ye Fan.
After sitting down, she subtly moved closer to him, maintaining a distance that was both close yet appropriate, displaying the image of a loving couple.
Seeing Li Zhaojun, Li Bangzhe said with a teasing smile, “I hear your company’s been in a bit of trouble lately, need any help?”
“Stocks rise and fall, it’s quite normal.
As long as the company is managed well, the stock will bounce back after a fall,” replied Li Zhaojun lightly.
“Ha, I hope so,” laughed Li Bangzhe nonchalantly.
Then he shifted his gaze to Ye Fan and asked, “What’s your husband’s name again?
I don’t seem to remember.”
“Your brother-in-law here is named Ye Fan,” Ye Fan sarcastically said without holding back.
“I seriously wonder if you were always at the bottom of your class, since you can’t even remember your own brother-in-law’s name.”
Li Bangzhe, angered, twisted his mouth and retorted, “Why should anyone bother to remember the name of an insignificant nobody?
Ye Fan, how’s your mixing going?
By the looks of your clothes, it seems not so well.
For the sake of family, come follow me, and I’ll casually gift you a manager position.”
“Superficial!” Li Zhaojun suddenly said.
Li Bangzhe was clearly taken aback but soon forced a laugh and said, “Ha, cousin, no offense, but you really have poor judgment.
After all the options, you ended up with a poor slob.
Why not take this chance before you have children and just divorce him?
I can introduce you to a marriage; the old president of Wansheng Group, Huang Hai, just got divorced a few months ago.
He’s a bit old, over sixty, but he’s certainly an upgrade from your current one.”
By this, he outright defamed and degraded, considering Ye Fan inferior to a man over sixty, and only valuing Li Zhaojun suitable to marry such a man.
Li Zhaojun’s face was icy cold, and her beautiful eyes emitted a chilling glare.
Ye Fan, instead of being angry, laughed, gently wrapping his hand around Li Zhaojun’s soft waist.
Li Zhaojun felt a surge of disgust, but in front of Li Bangzhe, she chose to temporarily endure.
As Ye Fan gently held Li Zhaojun’s waist, he sarcastically laughed, “So in your eyes, there’s only money, unaware of what love is, how sad and pitiful!”
“And you, a man living off a woman, dare to judge me?” Li Bangzhe’s face turned a bit red as he huffed.
Ye Fan chuckled and said, “I take care of my own living expenses, where am I living off anyone?
It’s you, that outfit of yours, tsk, definitely mooching off your parents.”
He wasn’t lying; although he lived in Li Zhaojun’s villa, he didn’t want to feel oppressed by her, so he had given her one million as a living expense when he moved in.
Momentarily unable to retort, Li Bangzhe’s face paled, his anger flared and he retorted with a heavy snort, “I was born noble, rich, and powerful, and you, a poor nobody, are destined to be under my feet forever!”
“Who was born noble and powerful?!” Suddenly, a furious voice came from behind.
Startled, Ye Fan and the others swiftly turned around and saw old Master Li standing in the living room, trembling with anger, glaring furiously at Li Bangzhe.
“Grandfather!” Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun quickly stood up, Li Zhaojun hurried over to support old Master Li, worried that he might be ill from the anger, and quickly advised, “Grandfather, please calm down, we were just joking.”
Pointing at Li Bangzhe, old Master Li cursed, “Your grandfather was nothing but a cow-herding boy from a landlord’s house, where do you get off thinking you’re noble?”
Li Bangzhe hung his head under the torrent of abuse, not daring to talk back, internally cursing Ye Fan for leading him into this verbal trap.
After berating him a few more times, old Master Li picked up an object to throw at Li Bangzhe, “Undutiful descendent, you’re killing me, get out!
Don’t ever let me see you again!
Get out!”
“Grandfather,” Li Bangzhe pleaded.
“Get out!
Get out!” old Master Li roared, picking up another object and hurling it.
Li Bangzhe didn’t dare to dodge; he could only shield his head and face with his arms, casting one last resentful glance at Ye Fan, then scampering away like a scalded rat.
