Chapter 848: Chapter 844: Seize the Time to Cultivate
The text message was sent, but it was like a stone sinking into the sea.
Although Ye Fan had anticipated this, he still couldn’t suppress the feeling of loss in his heart.
During this period, aside from being busy with work, he devoted almost all his spare time to cultivation. He had never had such a strong desire to improve his skills and breakthrough the barrier into the transformative state.
Only by entering the transformative state could he cultivate the Nine Yang Divine Skill, neutralize the negative effects of Li Zhaojun’s Jade Maiden Heart Scripture, and only then could there be a future between him and Li Zhaojun.
This was the only path, and now, on this path, a huge stone was blocking it.
He picked up the medicinal soup the hotel had prepared, drank it in one go, used the Rising Dragon Stance to digest and absorb the medicinal power, and then began the cultivation of the Tiger and Leopard Thunder Sound.
His bones started vibrating, and the sound waves produced impacted the vitality of blood, flesh, meridians, and organs throughout his whole body. Every nerve ending and cell was sending painful signals, converging like a tide overwhelming him.
These days, each practice of the Tiger and Leopard Thunder Sound was a painful ordeal for Ye Fan, but he never gave up.
By the eighth minute, his clothes were soaked with sweat.
By the twelfth minute, his face turned as pale as paper.
By the thirteenth minute, his body started trembling uncontrollably.
By the fourteenth minute, he felt a stuffiness in his chest as if his heart was going to stop beating.
Blood oozed from his nose. Ye Fan suddenly opened his eyes wide and struck his chest with a fist, spitting out a mouthful of fresh blood.
The bright red blood fell onto the expensive imported carpet, releasing a cloud of white steam with a metallic scent.
The sound waves of the Tiger and Leopard Thunder Sound caused his body to vibrate at a specific frequency, producing a large amount of heat, resulting in the blood he spat out emitting white steam. Furthermore, steam was rising from Ye Fan’s body as well.
He began adjusting his breath, his heart rate increased, and his blood circulated through his veins, delivering oxygen and nutrients throughout his body, quickly replenishing what had just been consumed.
Meanwhile, the pores on the surface of his skin expanded, letting moisture evaporate to dissipate the heat generated by the sound waves of the Tiger and Leopard Thunder Sound.
The heated steam evaporated and turned into a white mist when meeting the cold air blown by the air conditioner, soon surrounding Ye Fan like mist.
After ten or so minutes, his nearly boiling Qi-Blood calmed down, and the excess heat in his body gradually dissipated.
Then came the overwhelming fatigue that struck.
Ye Fan began meditating, slowly regulating his breath, allowing his body to recover.
Two hours later, he practiced the Tiger and Leopard Thunder Sound again, and his still not fully recovered body endured the training once more.
This cycle repeated, and Ye Fan practiced the Tiger and Leopard Thunder Sound three times until the morning of the next day. He called the hotel staff to replace the carpet. The staff member was slightly startled seeing the blood on the carpet and asked, “Sir, are you alright? Do you need medical assistance?”
Ye Fan shook his head, and the staff did not say more. After replacing the carpet, the staff left. Shortly after, a waiter pushed a dining cart in, and Ye Fan drank the herbal soup the hotel had brewed overnight. As soon as the soup entered his body, it was absorbed like water on a sponge.
Before he could stand up to do the Rising Dragon Stance, the medicinal power had been mostly absorbed.
Feeling somewhat unwell, Ye Fan attributed it to last night’s intense training, so he didn’t think much of it.
After bathing and changing clothes, Ye Fan drove his modified Volkswagen to the Yulin Bay villa.
He went straight to the second floor and knocked on the door of Li Zhaojun’s training room, “Zhao Jun, it’s me.”
After a moment, the door was opened from the inside, and Li Zhaojun walked out. Ye Fan said, “I sent you a text last night, let’s visit grandpa today.”
Li Zhaojun didn’t speak nor did she glance at him; she just walked past him to the bedroom, changed clothes, and went downstairs.
This time, there was no hint of hesitation.
But in her eyes, there was no trace of emotion.
Ye Fan even felt an illusion that the Li Zhaojun walking in front of him was like a puppet without a heart.
This thought sent a chill down his spine the moment it arose.
He turned and looked at Li Zhaojun’s figure descending the stairs step by step, reassuring himself that she was indeed flesh and blood, allowing his heart to relax slightly.
He subtly shook his head, thinking to himself, “Could it be that I overtrained last night, and my body is too fatigued, causing hallucinations?”
He hurried downstairs to catch up with Li Zhaojun. The two sat in the modified Volkswagen, and Li Zhaojun remained silent in the back seat, staring forward, with an unfocused gaze.
Ye Fan started the car and drove out of the villa area, turning onto the main road heading to the residence of Old Master Li. At first, he tried talking to Li Zhaojun, but she seemed not to hear at all, not offering a single response.
Ye Fan even felt that visiting Old Master Li’s house with Li Zhaojun wasn’t for the purpose of visiting but was like executing a pre-set program, both of them motionlessly performing the task.
Suddenly, he felt cold in the car and reached out to adjust the air conditioner’s temperature but realized he hadn’t turned on the air conditioner at all.
How could it be cold in Hua Hai City at the end of June?
Ye Fan furrowed his brows and glanced at the rearview mirror. Li Zhaojun was still sitting silently in the back.
It must be an illusion, he thought to himself.
Without a word along the way, they arrived outside the red-walled small building. The car stopped, and Li Zhaojun got out and walked into the courtyard.
When they reached the second floor, she didn’t push the door open like last time but instead knocked three times and waited quietly to the side.
Liu Tiezhu came out, saw Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun, and quickly opened the door with a smile, inviting the two in.
“Why so early today?” Liu Tiezhu asked, “Zhaojun, Xiao Fan, what would you like to drink?”
Ye Fan smiled, “We’re at our own home, no need to trouble Grandpa Liu.”
Liu Tiezhu chuckled, “What do you mean by trouble? As long as Xiao Fan doesn’t find this old man annoying!”
During the conversation, Old Master Li’s voice came from the balcony, “Xiao Fan and Jun’er are here?”
Liu Tiezhu whispered, “The Old Chief knew you were coming today, couldn’t sleep early on, insisted on getting up, but despite all the fuss, he hasn’t taken any meds yet!”
“Grandpa Liu, hand me the meds.” Ye Fan said. After Liu Tiezhu brought the meds, he took them along with a cup of warm water and went with Li Zhaojun to the balcony.
The two sat down beside Old Master Li.
Old Master Li looked well, but as soon as he saw the meds in Ye Fan’s hands, he impatiently waved his hand, “I know my own body. These pills are useless; I’d prefer a big bowl of braised pork!”
