Invincible Young Master in the City -
Chapter 778: 774: Counterattack Strategy
Chapter 778: Chapter 774: Counterattack Strategy
Wang Kaichen realized he had provoked someone he shouldn’t have and took his anger out on An Qiye, beating and scolding him. Caught off guard, An Qiye was kicked to the ground by Wang Kaichen.
However, An Qiye had never been hit before, and he had been tolerating Wang Kaichen for a long time. At that moment, he got up and immediately lunged at Wang Kaichen, throwing a punch at Wang Kaichen’s face.
Wang Kaichen, who never expected An Qiye, who had always been meek, to hit him, was struck on the nose and his blood flowed freely.
Next, the two men wrestled on the ground, their appearances disheveled, bearing no resemblance to the lofty image of privileged young masters.
Meanwhile, Luo Guozhong rushed to Ye Fan’s presidential suite with the head of the Liujiacun Police Sub-bureau, Zhang Mingming, who pressed the doorbell.
Inside the living room of the presidential suite, Ye Fan heard the doorbell ring and guessed that Luo Guozhong had arrived.
“Xiao Song, go open the door,” Ye Fan said, still seated on the sofa.
The young officer named Xiao Song, upon receiving the order, immediately stood up to open the door.
As the door opened, Xiao Song clearly saw the stern-faced Luo Guozhong and Zhang Mingming and quickly bowed his head, whispering softly, “Director Luo, Director Zhang.”
Zhang Mingming stared at Xiao Song sharply and snorted heavily, then turned to make a gesture inviting Luo Guozhong to enter first.
Luo Guozhong walked in, saw Ye Fan who had already stood up, and immediately broke into a smile, “Haha, Mr. Ye, sorry for the delay due to the distance, and for keeping you waiting.”
Ye Fan stepped away from the sofa and coffee table and responded with a light smile, “I’m truly sorry. It’s very late, and yet I’ve caused such a disturbance.”
During their conversation, the two men were already standing face to face.
“It’s my fault,” said Luo Guozhong politely, “It’s due to my poor management allowing some bad elements to cause trouble for you.”
Ye Fan smiled faintly and stopped exchanging courtesies with Luo Guozhong.
Luo Guozhong slightly turned aside to introduce Zhang Mingming, “Mr. Ye, this is Zhang Mingming, the head of the Liujiacun Police Sub-bureau.”
“Mr. Ye, it’s an honor to meet you,” Zhang Mingming immediately said with a smile meant to please.
Ye Fan nodded slightly, shook hands with Zhang Mingming, and said, “Director Zhang, hello.”
After meeting Zhang Mingming, Ye Fan made a gesture inviting them to sit and said, “Director Luo, Director Zhang, please take a seat.”
“You too, please,” said Luo Guozhong and Zhang Mingming politely.
Then, the three of them sat down, with Ye Fan, the host, naturally taking the main seat.
Twenty minutes later, Luo Guozhong and Zhang Mingming left with Luo Jianfeng. When they left, Luo Jianfeng and the others had their wrists handcuffed.
During those twenty minutes, Luo Guozhong and Zhang Mingming mostly apologized to Ye Fan and assured him that they would seriously pursue the cases against Luo Jianfeng and his men, finding and legally punishing the masterminds behind the scenes.
Of course, while Luo Guozhong and Zhang Mingming assured Ye Fan of their intention to severely punish Luo Jianfeng and his associates, Ye Fan suggested that the two young police officers, who had been on the job for less than a year, were first-time offenders and acted under orders, deserved another chance.
The next day, just after eleven in the morning, Ye Fan received a call from Zhang Mingming.
Luo Guozhong reported to Ye Fan about the disciplinary decisions for Luo Jianfeng and his men: The two young officers, Xiao Hua and Xiao Song, received major demerits, while Luo Jianfeng, apart from being severely punished for misusing public resources to frame Ye Fan the previous night, would also be investigated for errors committed over the past decade.
Additionally, Luo Guozhong had informed Ye Fan that the masterminds behind last night’s events were Wang Kaichen and An Qiye.
Although Luo Guozhong had assured Ye Fan last night that he would bring the masterminds to justice, Wang Kaichen was the only son of the vice mayor of Hua Hai and An Qiye was one of the main heirs of the powerful and wealthy Jiang Zheng Group in Hua Hai, which made him hesitant to arrest Wang Kaichen and An Qiye immediately.
After all, Luo Guozhong knew that Ye Fan was of extraordinary origin, likely from a direct descendant of a prominent family in Sijiu City, but he did not know Ye Fan’s specific true identity, which made him unable to make up his mind to take the great risk of offending both the vice mayor and the wealthy Jiang Zheng Group.
Ye Fan was not angry about Luo Guozhong’s tentative approach. He had never counted on Luo Guozhong to handle Wang Kaichen and An Qiye.
After ending the call with Luo Guozhong, Ye Fan placed his phone on the coffee table and rhythmically tapped the surface with his index and middle fingers, contemplating how to deal with Wang Kaichen and An Qiye.
Wang Kaichen and An Qiye had even assigned police to frame him for drug abuse, which was infuriatingly excessive and had successfully angered him.
However, he was beyond the impulsive youth who would rashly charge forward and strike others. Though he still looked very young, years of life-and-death experiences had matured him beyond his physical age.
Soon, Ye Fan had a plan.
He picked up his phone again, scrolled for a number, and dialed it.
In a moment, the call connected, and a middle-aged man’s voice, slightly sycophantic, came through, “Hehe, Xiao Fan, how come you have time to call me?”
“Hehe, Uncle Xing,” Ye Fan responded with a smile, “how have you been lately?”
“Pretty good,” laughed Ye Zaixing, the intelligence chief of the Ye family, “You’re working back in Mingde County, right?”
“Not yet,” Ye Fan replied, “I’m taking the opportunity to relax for a few more days.”
“Mm, I understand. After all, you’ve been physically and mentally strained lately; you indeed need to relax properly,” Ye Zaixing agreed.
After some pleasantries, Ye Fan stated his purpose, “Uncle Xing, I need information on three people.”
“Which three?” Ye Zaixing asked with a smile, ready to help immediately. “If they’re not very important, I won’t put them in the records.”
Not being put in the records meant sparing Ye Fan’s resource share within the Ye family.
Even though the Dragon Group had been disbanded, Ye Fan was still a major and still had connections in the military, especially since the disbanded members of the Dragon Group had been scattered across major military regions, becoming the spearheads and officers there, which made Ye Zaixing conclude that Ye Fan’s influence in the military would grow even larger in the next three to five years.
Also, since entering politics, Ye Fan had risen from a deputy position to a full-fledged post in just over a month, becoming the second in command at the county police station and his achievements were significant. With such a vigorous momentum, Ye Zaixing was certain Ye Fan would be at the very core of the Ye family’s third generation.
“The vice mayor of Hua Hai, Wang Hongsheng, his son Wang Kaichen, and An Qiye of the Jiang Zheng Group,” replied Ye Fan.
His plan was quite straightforward: to cut the weeds and remove the roots by decisively unseating Wang Hongsheng ahead of time.
Without the backing of his father as vice mayor, dealing with Wang Kaichen’s crimes would be easier, and Luo Guozhong would surely redeem himself by dredging up even those misdeeds from Wang Kaichen’s past, like the time when he had sneakily looked up girls’ skirts as a child.
Given Wang Kaichen’s arrogance, he had likely committed enough misdeeds to be shot, or at least to spend decades in prison.
Having taken down the vice mayor, Luo Guozhong would surely be bold enough to arrest An Qiye when Ye Fan reported An Qiye’s attempt to frame and slander him from the night before.
As for how to bring down Wang Hongsheng ahead of time, the difficulty of this task did not seem great to Ye Fan.
Wang Hongsheng was the least ranked vice mayor of Hua Hai, with relatively weak power and nearing the end of his term with impending retirement, unlikely to have significant backing. Besides, for someone who could allow his son, Wang Kaichen, to become so arrogant and overbearing, Wang Hongsheng’s own hands were unlikely to be clean.
