Chapter 534 - 534 530 Nature is Hard to Change

534: Chapter 530: Nature is Hard to Change 534: Chapter 530: Nature is Hard to Change The next day when Ye Fan woke up and opened his eyes, he was met with a pair of clear, bright eyes studying him.

“Did I wake you?” The stunningly beautiful face with those eyes gave off a slight smile as she spoke softly.

Ye Fan smiled back and moved in to kiss Li Zhaojun, but she quickly shifted her face back and laughed, “You haven’t brushed your teeth after sleeping all night.”

Ye Fan wanted to continue nevertheless, but then he noticed Li Zhaojun’s gaze had a hint of cool detachment and authority, he stopped himself, not daring to be too presumptuous.

“Haha, alright then.

I’ll kiss you after washing up,” Ye Fan laughed, searching for an excuse.

Now that their relationship was officially on good terms, and having such a beautiful, noble, and capable wife by his side, he found it rather hard to restrain himself.

He lay back down, thinking to sleep a bit more, but then glanced toward the window and saw it was already quite light out.

Reaching over to the nightstand to grab his Rolex watch for the time, he realized it was already past eight o’clock.

“How is it already past eight?

I don’t feel like I have slept at all,” he muttered quietly to himself.

Last night, he had kissed Li Zhaojun in bed, firing up his own desires, but since Li Zhaojun was in no condition for intimacy, and he was too embarrassed to take matters into his own hands while she was still an ‘injury reserve,’ he had to endure it, restless until the early hours before he managed to fall asleep.

He intended to continue sleeping in, but Li Zhaojun had already gotten up.

Even the ‘injured’ was up, so Ye Fan felt it wouldn’t look good to keep lying in bed, lest Zhao Jun think less of him.

After both of them had finished washing up, it was Li Zhaojun’s turn to sit in front of the dressing table to do her makeup and get dressed.

In the past, Ye Fan used to sneak peeks at Li Zhaojun as she got ready, but now he could admire her openly.

So when Li Zhaojun sat down at the dressing table, Ye Fan immediately brought a soft stool over to sit by her side.

However, no sooner had he settled down than Li Zhaojun shooed him away with a half-serious, half-joking look: “What’s there to see in a woman doing her hair?

Move aside.

Are you, a big man, planning to learn makeup and play the cross-dresser?”

Ye Fan, feeling a bit embarrassed, obediently moved away and sat back on the bed, picking up the remote control to turn on the TV.

Then he pretended to watch TV while actually admiring the beautiful reflection of Li Zhaojun at the dressing table.

When Li Zhaojun finished getting ready and stood up to face Ye Fan, his eyes lit up, and his gaze fixed on her.

When someone is pleasing to the eye, the more you look, the more pleasing they become—beauty lies in the lover’s eyes.

Even when Ye Fan first found Li Zhaojun disagreeable, he could not deny her beauty.

Now with their feelings harmonized, she appeared to him like a celestial being descending from the heavens.

Looking at the stunning Li Zhaojun, Ye Fan got out of bed quickly, covering the distance in a few strides to stand before her, reaching out with both hands to tenderly embrace her delicate waist.

“My dear wife, you are so beautiful,” Ye Fan said before leaning in to kiss her soft, tempting lips.

But a pair of delicate white hands stopped him, pressing against his chest.

“No, I’ve just finished doing my makeup.

If you mess it up, I’ll have to do it all over again,” Li Zhaojun said.

Ye Fan, feeling a bit impatient, retorted, “Then just do it over,” as he tried to kiss her again.

Li Zhaojun leaned back, explaining, “We’re already behind schedule.

If I redo my makeup, it will probably be ten o’clock.

We still have to go and pay our respects to the elder, making up for the birthday wishes from the other night.”

Upon hearing this, Ye Fan reluctantly stopped and drew back his hands.

“Don’t sulk, we have a long life ahead of us,” Li Zhaojun said with a faint smile, comforting Ye Fan in a manner similar to a superior consoling a subordinate.

She reached out to gently grasp Ye Fan’s hand and patted the back of his hand twice with her other jade-like hand, “Let’s go down for breakfast.”

Ye Fan nodded weakly and left the room with Li Zhaojun.

Going downstairs, Ye Fan came to understand that even though they were in love now, Li Zhaojun clearly would not let him have his way.

It seemed that in this house, it would still be she, Li Zhaojun, who had the final say.

Upon reaching the first-floor hall, they saw Qiao Feixuan and Li Zhaojun’s mother, Ning Huwen, chatting and watching TV on the sofa.

Hearing footsteps, Qiao Feixuan and Ning Huwen guessed it was finally Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun getting up, so they stood and turned to greet them.

“Mom,” Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun called out in unison.

Qiao Feixuan happily responded, taking Li Zhaojun from Ye Fan’s hands with concern and inquiring about her injury.

Li Zhaojun smiled and said, “It’s almost completely healed, no different from usual.”

Qiao Feixuan, aware of the marvels of ancient martial arts practitioners, was surprised but believed it.

As for Ning Huwen, knowing her daughter was always sensible, she was certain that Li Zhaojun wouldn’t joke about such matters.

She only resented that Li Zhaojun couldn’t heal instantly and thus wasn’t surprised by the exceptional medical skills of the Qing Lian master brought by Ye Fan.

After breakfast, Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun returned to the hall.

Once seated on the sofa, and after Qiao Feixuan had shown concern by asking if the breakfast was to their taste, Li Zhaojun expressed to Qiao Feixuan her intention to pay respects to Elder Ye later on.

“Is your body fit for going out?

Why not rest for a few more days before visiting,” Qiao Feixuan said uneasily.

Li Zhaojun replied, “My wound is nearly healed, just waiting for the scabs to fall off in a couple of days.

Since Ye Fan and I could not celebrate the elder’s birthday the night before last, now that I am well, we must go and apologize to show our sincerity.”

“Alright.

Our Zhaojun is always the most sensible,” Qiao Feixuan nodded in agreement.

Although there was a reason for the incident the night before, the fact that Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun missed wishing Elder Ye a happy birthday remained.

Now that the injury was healed, it would not be good if Elder Ye was displeased if they did not go and pay respects immediately.

Elder Ye firmly controlled everything in the Ye family, and his attitude determined the resources allocated to the Ye family’s younger generation.

Qiao Feixuan could not afford to take it lightly.

Moreover, she had a very important plan concerning Ye Fan’s future that required seeking Elder Ye’s approval.

Therefore, it was essential not to let Elder Ye’s attitude towards Ye Fan turn cold.

Next, Ye Fan and Li Zhaojun brought down the prepared birthday gifts from their room, placed them in the car, and prepared to go pay respects to Elder Ye.

“Take good care of your wife.

If anything else happens to Zhaojun, I won’t forgive you!” Qiao Feixuan warned Ye Fan sternly before they got into the car.

Finally, they drove off to Elder Ye’s residence.

This visit to pay respects and apologize to Elder Ye had another purpose for Ye Fan: he intended to ask Elder Ye to assign someone to collect information about Caesar.

Caesar dared to assassinate him and nearly killed Li Zhaojun; this vendetta must be avenged, and tenfold at that!

He was unable to gather information on Caesar, but that didn’t mean Elder Ye couldn’t.

Elder Ye had access to far more resources than Ye Fan.

However mysterious Caesar was, Elder Ye could easily obtain all the detailed information on him.
