351: Chapter 347: Wrong Again 351: Chapter 347: Wrong Again But no sooner had he placed his phone back on the desk than another call came in—it was Hu Jing.
“Ye Fan, are you busy?” Hu Jing’s coquettish laughter came through the phone.
Ye Fan smiled lightly, “Just bored.
What’s up?”
“Giggle, nothing much, I just finished work and suddenly saw your desk empty.
It struck me you’ve been promoted for a week now.” Hu Jing teased playfully, “But, it’s already been a week, why haven’t I seen you ‘return in triumphant splendor’ to revisit your old haunts and check in on old acquaintances?”
Ye Fan felt embarrassed; her words painted him as a heartless scoundrel who forgot old friends.
But, in fact, he had just invited Hu Jing for dinner last night and they had gone to the Yonghui Club, staying until late before parting ways.
Of course, he understood what Hu Jing meant—she wanted him to swing by her office for a visit.
However, he felt a bit wary of Hu Jing’s foxy, soul-snatching eyes and her figure that could lead one astray; he worried he wouldn’t be able to resist.
It was clear to him that Hu Jing was interested in him.
So, pretending to be oblivious, he chuckled, “Ha ha, was I dreaming last night?
I remember having dinner with you and going to the Yonghui Club.”
On the other end of the phone, Hu Jing was stomping her foot in frustration.
She knew that Ye Fan was feigning misunderstanding; with Ye Fan’s shrewdness, there was no way he could genuinely miss the obvious cues.
“Giggle, I’m just kidding with you,” Hu Jing suppressed her annoyance and chuckled tenderly.
Ye Fan laughed heartily in response.
After a silence of a couple of seconds, Hu Jing spoke in a sultry voice, “How about we have dinner together after work?”
“Heh heh, I’m really sorry, but I have plans this evening.
Let’s do it another day,” Ye Fan said.
“What about tomorrow?” Hu Jing asked, not giving up.
Ye Fan apologetically said, “I have a dinner engagement tomorrow evening.”
“Giggle, looks like you’re really busy,” Hu Jing laughed, “There must be a free day this week, right?”
“Heh heh, of course there is,” Ye Fan said, feeling a bit embarrassed—it was, after all, impolite to keep pushing a friend’s offer back, “How about this—I’ll take you out for dinner in a few days, how does that sound?”
“Hee hee, that’s more like it.
But we agreed I’m treating you to dinner, there’s no way I’d let you do the honors.” Hu Jing smiled, “Just call me whenever you’re free this week.”
Ye Fan felt embarrassed; after all, she was one of the three beauties from the Emali Group, with countless admirers, and here she was making herself so clear.
Afterward, the two of them made casual chit-chat for a bit before finally hanging up.
At six o’clock, Ye Fan left work to pick up Lu Xiaoman from the martial arts academy for dinner.
Half an hour later, Ye Fan entered the martial arts academy.
Upon entering the door, he saw Lu Xiaoman, dressed in a simple and elegant autumn dress, dusting a table with a brand-new feather duster.
Lu Xiaoman obviously heard Ye Fan’s footsteps, turned her head, and seeing it was Ye Fan, she smiled sweetly, radiantly beautiful.
“Sister Xiaoman.” Ye Fan called out with a smile, walking over.
Lu Xiaoman put down the feather duster, turned to face Ye Fan, and said with a smile, “Ye Fan, you’re here.”
“Heh heh, sorry to keep you waiting.
Are you hungry?” Ye Fan asked as he took Lu Xiaoman’s delicate hand and walked towards the door, “Let’s go have dinner.”
“Mhm,” Lu Xiaoman responded, following Ye Fan to the door.
As they reached the door, Ye Fan suddenly felt a slip in his hand—Lu Xiaoman had withdrawn hers.
Ye Fan turned his head in confusion to look at Lu Xiaoman when she had already started to chuckle with glee, laughing in a manner that bent her forward and backward with great joy.
“You’re Mo Xiaoyan!” Ye Fan couldn’t help but scowl.
Mo Xiaoyan was laughing so hard she could barely catch her breath, “Hehe, brother-in-law, you’ve got the wrong person, hehe…”
Ye Fan said with some displeasure, “Why do you always pretend to be your sister?”
“Hehe, brother-in-law, clearly you’re the one who got it wrong, why are you blaming me?” Mo Xiaoyan laughed, “When did I ever say I was my sister just now?”
Ye Fan said, “You’re still denying it?
When I called you ‘sister’, why did you respond?”
“Did I respond?
I didn’t, did I?
I was just greeting you.
Am I supposed to see you and not say a word, ignoring you?” Mo Xiaoyan craftily argued, “You surely aren’t going to say I can’t use a feather duster to clean, right?”
Ye Fan was at a loss for words.
“Hmph, you were randomly pulling on someone’s hand just now, and I haven’t even blamed you yet.
Be careful, I might tell my sister that you’re feigning ignorance and taking advantage of me!” Mo Xiaoyan retorted with a snort.
Ye Fan felt a surge of frustration and was a bit scared of Mo Xiaoyan, “Alright, alright, I won’t blame you then.”
“Hee hee!” Mo Xiaoyan snickered triumphantly.
Ye Fan, drained, asked, “Where’s your sister?”
“She’s in the office.” Mo Xiaoyan said and then sauntered inside.
After a while, in the martial arts venue office, Ye Fan saw Lu Xiaoman sitting in front of the desk processing documents.
Lu Xiaoman was clearly dressed in a fall season OL (office lady) suit, completely different from what Mo Xiaoyan wore.
Ye Fan couldn’t help but curse himself for being confused, not remembering that Lu Xiaoman always dressed in OL suits when she worked.
In reality, it wasn’t entirely his fault, after all, with Lu Xiaoman suddenly becoming the Mo family’s young miss, he subconsciously thought that Lu Xiaoman would have changed from before.
Lu Xiaoman, of course, knew nothing about the incident at the entrance of the martial arts venue where Mo Xiaoyan pretended to be her and Ye Fan failed to see through it.
When she saw Ye Fan and Mo Xiaoyan come in, she immediately stopped her work, stood up, and smiled at Ye Fan, “Ye Fan, you’re here.”
“Mhm.” Ye Fan acknowledged, his face a bit awkwardly shifting his gaze to Mo Xiaoyan.
This Mo Xiaoyan had actually guessed the first thing Lu Xiaoman would say when she met him.
Mo Xiaoyan returned an impish and triumphant look to Ye Fan.
The three of them then left the martial arts venue and found a four-star hotel to dine in.
During the meal, Lu Xiaoman mentioned to Ye Fan that her biological parents had already returned to Chongqing.
And before Mo Xuaming left, he had given her a sum of money to settle her foster parents.
Lu Xiaoman intended to first buy a house for her foster parents, have them move in, and then gradually improve her foster parents’ lives so they could live comfortably.
Of course, she still wouldn’t tell her foster parents about finding her biological parents.
With Mo Xiaoyan as the third wheel, Ye Fan and Lu Xiaoman’s dinner date couldn’t be thoroughly enjoyable.
Especially after eating when shopping became a big problem.
Lu Xiaoman and Mo Xiaoyan walking together were too eye-catching, able to draw a crowd in an instant, similar to how big stars were treated when out shopping.
So, since shopping was a bust, they decided to go to the cinema to watch a movie instead.
During the movie, Mo Xiaoyan was actually well-behaved, sitting obediently next to Lu Xiaoman.
At half past ten in the evening, after parting ways with Lu Xiaoman and Mo Xiaoyan, Ye Fan drove back to Dingsheng International Hotel.
On the way, he suddenly remembered, with Mo Xiaoyan as the third wheel on his dinner date with Lu Xiaoman, he hadn’t even held Lu Xiaoman’s little hand, instead he had grabbed Mo Xiaoyan’s.
