Chapter 280 - 280 276 The Origins of Lu Xiaoman
280: Chapter 276: The Origins of Lu Xiaoman 280: Chapter 276: The Origins of Lu Xiaoman Lu Xiaoman didn’t bother changing out of the clothes she had just tried on, which happened to look great on her, due to her eagerness to find a place to sit down and talk in detail.
Mo Xiaoyan was also wearing a white dress that she had just tried on, and she didn’t plan to take it off either.
So, when Lu Xiaoman and Mo Xiaoyan went back to the fitting room to retrieve their own clothes, Ye Fan paid for the outfits they were wearing.
Mo Xiaoyan, moving quickly, was the first to return to the counter.
Just as she was about to pay with her card, Ye Fan said, “I’ve already paid for you.”
“Who asked you to pay for me?” Mo Xiaoyan looked at Ye Fan unhappily, “Don’t think that just because you’ve paid for me twice, I’ll forgive you for the disrespect you showed me earlier!”
She was indeed furious with Ye Fan.
Her first hand-hold with a man, the first embrace around her slender waist by a man, had been suddenly taken by Ye Fan.
Even though the man before her might potentially be her future brother-in-law, that didn’t mean she could forgive him.
Ye Fan replied with a wry smile, “This is all just a misunderstanding.
Besides, didn’t you beat me until I spat blood?
If I wasn’t strong, I might be lying in a hospital by now.”
“That’s what you deserve!” Mo Xiaoyan snorted, “How could my sister fall for such a frivolous man like you, hugging and holding in public like that!”
After a pause, she continued, “Moreover, since my sister will soon be returning to her ancestral roots and shedding her previous identity, someone like you is not worthy of her.
If you have any sense, stay away from her!”
Ye Fan shook his head with a faint smile and said, “Xiaoman and I truly care for each other, and that won’t change just because of a shift in status.
Besides, you keep saying Xiaoman is your sister, but I doubt it!”
However, he suddenly remembered that the last time he took Lu Xiaoman home, he met her parents by chance, and they didn’t resemble Lu Xiaoman at all.
Not to mention their looks, but just their height alone made it seem like Lu Xiaoman wasn’t their biological child.
“Could it be that Xiaoman really was adopted and is actually Mo Xiaoyan’s sister?” he thought to himself.
Mo Xiaoyan was about to argue with Ye Fan when she suddenly heard footsteps from behind her, so she immediately swallowed her words and turned to meet Lu Xiaoman, walking over.
“Sister, let’s go,” she said warmly, taking Lu Xiaoman’s arm.
Lu Xiaoman looked at Mo Xiaoyan with a complex expression and said, “Miss Mo, I may not be your sister, even though we do look somewhat alike.”
“You are my sister, my long-lost twin sister!” Mo Xiaoyan asserted confidently.
Ye Fan walked over and said, “This isn’t the place to talk.
Let’s find somewhere quiet to talk slowly.”
“Yes,” Lu Xiaoman nodded to Ye Fan in agreement, obediently responding.
Mo Xiaoyan, however, gave Ye Fan a defiant snort.
About fifteen minutes later, in a secluded private room of a high-class coffee shop, a waiter dressed in a black vest served up three different kinds of coffee.
After the waiter left the private room, Mo Xiaoyan, with her pretty face turned up, snorted coldly at Ye Fan, “I want to discuss our family affairs with my sister now, so if you could excuse us!”
“Us?
Who are you referring to?
There are no strangers here,” Ye Fan responded.
Lu Xiaoman also said to Mo Xiaoyan, “Ye Fan is not a stranger.”
“Sister, this is our family’s secret; we can’t let him know about it,” Mo Xiaoyan said.
Not wanting to put Lu Xiaoman in a difficult position, Ye Fan stood up and said, “Alright, alright, I’ll wait outside.”
With that, he turned and left the private room, gently closing the door behind him.
After about seven or eight minutes, the door to the private room opened, revealing a pretty face.
Ye Fan walked over and, reading the expression in her eyes, could tell it was Lu Xiaoman.
“Xiaoman, how did the talk go?” Ye Fan asked with concern.
Lu Xiaoman didn’t speak; she turned with a heavy sigh and sat down inside the private room.
After entering the private room, Ye Fan asked Mo Xiaoyan, “Are you really twin sisters?”
“Of course,” Mo Xiaoyan replied proudly, her face clearly showed excitement, and her eyebrows lifted.
At that moment, Lu Xiaoman stood up, her pretty face showing little joy from the unexpected reunion with her long-lost twin sister.
“Sister, it’s getting late, I should head home,” she said to Mo Xiaoyan.
Mo Xiaoyan replied with surprise and reluctance, “It’s still early though.
Sister, let’s talk some more.
I feel like, despite being separated for many years, I feel especially close to you, like you’re another me.
It’s a wonderful feeling.”
Lu Xiaoman shook her head, “Not now, let’s chat another day.
I really must go.”
“Alright,” Mo Xiaoyan said with reluctance, “then I’ll come to see you tomorrow.
Hee hee…”
As she spoke, she laughed happily.
Lu Xiaoman also showed a smile, but Ye Fan could tell that it was forced.
And so, the three of them left the café together.
As they entered the parking lot and approached Ye Fan’s second-hand Citroën, Mo Xiaoyan suddenly said, “Sister, do you not have a car?
Tomorrow I’ll ask dad to transfer some money and buy you a Maserati Quattroporte, or maybe a Porsche.”
While speaking, she cast a purposely provocative glance at Ye Fan.
Ye Fan understood her implication but showed no concern, merely smiling indifferently.
“No need.
The company has provided me with a personal car,” Lu Xiaoman declined with a shake of her head, “I just haven’t got around to choosing one because I’ve been busy these last few days.”
Mo Xiaoyan insisted, “You must!
You’ve surely suffered a lot having been lost all these years.
Now that you’re back, it’s time to properly compensate you.”
Lu Xiaoman still shook her head and then said, “Sister, I’m going home now.
You should also not stay out too late on your own and be safe.”
“I know, my dear sister,” Mo Xiaoyan chuckled.
After that, Ye Fan drove Lu Xiaoman away.
Entering the vehicle lane, Ye Fan could see that Lu Xiaoman was deeply preoccupied and asked, “Do you want to go straight home, or shall we find a place to sit first?”
“Back home,” Lu Xiaoman hesitated before speaking in a melancholic tone.
Ye Fan nodded, glanced at Lu Xiaoman, and seeing her somewhat distracted and in a daze, felt compassion and asked, “You don’t seem very happy?”
Lu Xiaoman came back to her senses and said, “This news was so sudden for me.
I, I’m having a hard time accepting it.”
“So, Mo Xiaoyan really is your twin sister?” Ye Fan inquired.
Lu Xiaoman sighed and nodded, “Yes.
Earlier in the private room, she told me all about what happened back then.
And, she even knew about a red mole somewhere on my body.
I do feel a very peculiar connection when I’m near her.”
“A red mole?
Where is it?” Ye Fan curiously asked.
Lu Xiaoman’s face flushed with embarrassment, she stammered, “I’m not telling you.”
“Did you know you were adopted when you were young?” Ye Fan asked.
Lu Xiaoman shook her head, “I didn’t know.
When I was a child, some neighbors would say I didn’t resemble my parents, and they would get very angry.
I think, my parents must really not want to lose me.”
Considering Lu Xiaoman’s adoptive parents weren’t the most astute people, and understanding Lu Xiaoman’s feelings, Ye Fan suggested with a smile, “Then just keep it a secret from your parents, don’t let them know you’ve found your birth parents.
Of course, you’d need to tell your sister and your birth parents in advance, asking them not to disturb your parents.”
“Is that okay?” Lu Xiaoman asked.
Ye Fan smiled, “Why not?
Keep it hidden for as long as possible.”
“Okay!” Lu Xiaoman nodded vigorously, showing some smiles, “Ye Fan, thank you.”
