By the time they had washed up and taken their baths, and dressed, it was nearly noon.
The breakfast Ye Fan had ordered for them went to waste.
However, Ye Fan treated them to lunch at the dining hall of the five-star hotel.
After lunch, Luo Xinling, Tan Shiyun, and the other two girls reluctantly left the Dingsheng International Hotel.
Even though he had seen off Luo Xinling, Tan Shiyun, and the other women, Ye Fan did not go out but remained in the living room of the presidential suite to practice the Flying Dragon stance.
Since he had played too wildly last night and hadn’t time to practice, he had to take advantage of this free time to catch up.
At three o’clock in the afternoon, Zhao Lina suddenly called, “Dinner at my place tonight, have you bought a gift yet?”
“Are we such close friends that I still need to prepare a special gift?” Ye Fan couldn’t help asking.
Zhao Lina snorted, “What close friends?
Who’s close with you?”
“Hehe.” Ye Fan chuckled and didn’t argue with Zhao Lina.
Zhao Lina softened her tone and continued, “Since you haven’t bought a gift yet, come out with me to pick one.
Don’t worry, you’re my ‘pretend boyfriend,’ I won’t actually make you pay.”
“Alright.
Where shall we meet?” Ye Fan agreed, quietly grumbling to himself, There are still three to four hours before dinner at your place.
Is there a need to pick a gift so early?
And it’s not the first time I’m going, it’s the third.
There’s no need to pick anything special.
“In the parking lot near Taoyuan Square on Jinhua North Road in Liujia Hui,” Zhao Lina said, “How long will it take for you to get here?”
“Jinhua Road?” Ye Fan said, “I should be able to get there in about half an hour.”
In fact, Dingsheng International Hotel was located in Liujia Hui, only a few streets away from Jinhua Road.
With the car, it wouldn’t even take half an hour.
But he remembered that Jinhua Road was a pedestrian street.
This gave him a bad feeling, so he deliberately delayed some time.
“Okay,” Zhao Lina replied and immediately hung up the phone.
Seventeen or eighteen minutes later, Ye Fan leisurely drove his car into the parking lot near Taoyuan Square.
After finding a parking spot and parking his car, Ye Fan slowly took out his phone to call Zhao Lina.
However, before he could find Zhao Lina’s number, someone tapped on his car window.
Turning his head, he saw that it was Zhao Lina.
Putting away his phone and getting out of the car, Ye Fan couldn’t help but take in Zhao Lina from head to toe.
She wore a cinched chiffon dress that reached mid-thigh, red stiletto heels, and on her wrist hung a white crossbody bag.
However, these details were not the most important.
What really stood out was her long, shoulder-length hair with bouncy wave tips, obviously freshly styled.
But that was still not the most important thing.
The most important thing was that her dress was pink!
Yes, pink!
And the skirt even had a crocheted lace hem.
This was way too much domestic flair for Ye Fan to take in at once.
Seeing Ye Fan staring at her dumbfounded, Zhao Lina arrogantly tilted her petite, snowy chin, “What?
Don’t recognize me?”
Ye Fan snapped back to reality, chuckling, “A bit.
If it weren’t for your unmistakable tone, I might have thought you had a twin sister.”
“In your dreams,” Zhao Lina shot a sideways glance at Ye Fan.
Ye Fan gave a faint smile, surveying Zhao Lina again and found her attire quite nice.
It softened her normally rigid aura and added a touch of feminine grace.
Of course, Ye Fan’s gaze mostly lingered on Zhao Lina’s chest.
Naturally, Zhao Lina noticed Ye Fan’s eyes circling around her chest.
She was a little pleased inside but put on a slightly displeased face and huffed, “Where are you looking?”
Ye Fan withdrew his gaze, chuckling, “You look a lot prettier in that outfit.”
“Hee hee, at least you have some taste,” Zhao Lina couldn’t help but laugh.
After pausing briefly, she flipped her wavy long hair and headed towards the parking lot exit, saying, “Come on, help me pick out gifts.”
Ye Fan had no choice but to follow.
They left the parking lot and entered Jinhua Road Street.
The street was bustling with activity, and the crowd was swarming.
Coupled with the slightly overcast weather, it was indeed a good time for shopping.
But what followed confirmed Ye Fan’s bad hunch.
Zhao Lina wasn’t actually picking gifts for her dad and mom; she clearly just wanted someone to accompany her while shopping.
Under normal circumstances, Ye Fan really disliked aimless wandering on the streets.
Especially during the day, Zhao Lina deliberately kept a distance from him, which left him with nothing but the role of an escort bodyguard and muscle-bound laborer for carrying things, without any perks to enjoy.
The only small consolation for him was enduring the envious, jealous, and resentful glances from numerous men, letting him take pride in it for a moment.
They shopped until six o’clock in the evening, and Zhao Lina finally ended her shopping spree reluctantly, heading back to the parking lot to drive home for dinner.
Twenty minutes later, downstairs at Zhao Lina’s place, Ye Fan got out of the car carrying a pile of things that Zhao Lina had just bought.
Among all these things, only two or three items were gifts for Zhao Lina’s parents; the rest were all for Zhao Lina herself.
As they reached the entrance of the staircase, Zhao Lina suddenly stopped and said, “Wait!”
Ye Fan stopped and asked, “What’s wrong?”
“When we get to my place, if my dad asks you to play chess, you must lose to my dad.
You are not allowed to win, not even a draw!” Zhao Lina said.
Ye Fan couldn’t help but laugh, saying, “No problem.”
“Don’t laugh!” Zhao Lina called out with a slightly reddened face, feeling a bit embarrassed.
“Hehe, alright, I won’t laugh,” Ye Fan said with a smile.
Zhao Lina huffed in annoyance and then turned to go up the stairs.
Ye Fan followed close behind.
As they entered Zhao Lina’s home, she called out loudly, “Dad, Mom, Ye Fan and I are back.”
Zhao Lina’s mom, Yang Zhizhuo, responded from the kitchen, then stood halfway out of the kitchen doorway, smiling at Ye Fan, “Xiaofan, you’re here.
I’m busy cooking.
Make yourself at home, don’t be too polite.”
Well, they were already familiar enough not to stand on ceremony.
Ye Fan smiled wryly to himself, but answered with a smile, “Okay, Auntie, go on with your cooking.”
Yang Zhizhuo gave a smile and went back into the kitchen to continue cooking.
Ye Fan and Zhao Lina stepped into the living room but didn’t see Zhao Lina’s dad, Zhao Guodong.
After Ye Fan put the things down where Zhao Lina pointed, she turned to call out towards the kitchen, “Mom, where’s Dad?”
“He’s in the study,” answered Yang Zhizhuo from the kitchen.
Zhao Lina turned to Ye Fan, “Let’s go and greet my dad.”
Ye Fan nodded.
So, he followed Zhao Lina to the door of the study.
The study door was wide open, and the fragrance of ink wafted out from inside.
Ye Fan looked in and saw Zhao Guodong standing at a desk, focused on calligraphy, writing with a brush on a piece of spread-out white xuan paper.
Seeing this, Zhao Lina chuckled to herself; ‘Hehe, dad finally realized that he can’t beat that annoying guy in Go, and decided to bring out his strength in calligraphy to save face.’
