Neither Gong Yongfu nor Sun Yuan had the spirited demeanor they once had when they joined forces to strike against Li Zhaojun.
Their faces were like withered bitter gourds.
They had been kicked out of the management layer of Emali Group by Li Zhaojun and Huachang Investment Fund, and then Li Zhaojun and Huachang Investment Fund had also jointly passed a resolution for shareholders not to receive dividends for two years.
Without power, and unable to get their hands on any money, it was no different from depositing money in the bank as a fixed deposit, if not worse.
Because much can change in two years, like how Li Zhaojun could continuously dilute their shares by issuing new stocks, increasing the overall market value while lowering the individual share value, causing their wealth to shrink before their very eyes.
However, that was not the direct reason they were sitting in Li Zhaojun’s office today.
The direct reason was that they had received news that the patent for “Ji Lung Clearing Tablets” had been snatched away by Tongyi Group.
Once the news becomes public in the media, Emali Group’s stock would plummet, and with it, their wealth would drastically shrink.
Gong Yongfu and Sun Yuan had already given up on fighting with Li Zhaojun and decided to completely withdraw from Emali Group, to sell their shares at a good price while the stock was still high, and then start their own companies or find other investments.
“Your stock value is too high, I can’t afford it,” Li Zhaojun said coldly.
She certainly hoped to completely kick Gong Yongfu and Sun Yuan out of Emali Group and take over their shares, increasing her shareholding percentage, but acquiring their shares at the current high stock price would be too easy on them.
Sun Yuan forced a smile and said, “We are willing to transfer them to you at 80% of the price.”
“I still don’t have that much money,” Li Zhaojun replied coldly, “The Group’s stock price still has room to rise, isn’t it good for you to hold onto them?”
Gong Yongfu chuckled bitterly, “Director Li, don’t joke with us.
We already know about the patent being snatched away.”
“Ha, seems you guys are quite well-informed,” Li Zhaojun sneered, “In that case, you should stay and face the difficulties with the Group!”
“We can still negotiate the price,” Sun Yuan said with a pained expression, “Otherwise, we’ll have to transfer them to someone else.”
“Then transfer them to someone else.
I don’t want them,” Li Zhaojun said indifferently, with an air of nonchalance.
When transferring shares, other shareholders have the right of first refusal.
If they waive that right, then a shareholder can transfer their shares to an outsider.
But their shares were not small, currently valued at hundreds of millions.
Even if someone was willing to be the sucker, it would not be something that could be done in a day or two, and the news of the patent being snatched could be exposed at any time.
Once it gets out, the deal would certainly fall through.
She wouldn’t consider taking their shares unless Gong Yongfu and Sun Yuan were willing to sell them for less than half the current stock price.
In recent days, she had been working hard to retrieve the patent, vaguely guessing that relying solely on personal connections to persuade Tongyi Group to give up the “Ji Lung Clearing Tablets” patent was very unlikely.
Therefore, it was essential to supplement it with a lawsuit against Hua Hai University Biomedical Research Institute, which was the only way she might recover the patent.
And once Emali Group started litigation with Hua Hai University Biomedical Research Institute, it meant that the news of the patent being snatched would come out, inevitably causing the stock price to plummet.
So, Li Zhaojun was in no hurry to accept Gong Yongfu and Sun Yuan’s shares.
She would wait until the stock price plummeted to the lowest point, when they were in constant fear and anxiety, to buy them at a very low price.
Faced with Li Zhaojun’s cold demeanor, Gong Yongfu and Sun Yuan could only try hard to keep smiling.
“Ha, Sun Yuan was just joking,” Gong Yongfu said hastily with a forced smile, “Of course we want to sell our shares to you.
We are willing to reduce the price to 75%, how about that?”
Li Zhaojun directly shook her head and said, “I’m not currently considering acquiring the shares you hold.
As you are aware, I’m busy trying to wrestle back the patent from the Tongyi Group, which is ten times stronger than us.
So, please, you may leave.”
Gong Yongfu and Sun Yuan could only offer a wry smile, said “Sorry to disturb you,” and then stood up to leave the office.
Before entering Li Zhaojun’s office, they had agreed that the bottom line would be to reduce the price by 25%.
After Gong Yongfu and Sun Yuan left, a hint of a smile crossed Li Zhaojun’s beautiful, stunning face.
She had been under a lot of pressure these past few days and was not in a good mood, but having Gong Yongfu and Sun Yuan come to her office in person, admitting defeat and begging to transfer their shares to her, improved her spirits somewhat.
Crisis is an opportunity.
As long as one has the ability to resolve a crisis and then leverages it to gain more benefits, a crisis can actually be quite lovely.
For some reason, while she felt happy, the image of Ye Fan’s slovenly figure popped into her mind when she thought about sharing her joy with someone.
“That shallow, naive, lazy, lecherous, and fickle guy was sitting with Lu Xiaoman at lunch yesterday and today, completely ignoring what I said!” she thought, a bit annoyed, “And, he hasn’t been home for dinner for several days in a row now!”
Thinking of this, she immediately picked up her phone from the desk, found Ye Fan’s mobile number, and called him.
After a while, the call connected, and Ye Fan’s languid voice came through, “Director Li, what can I do for you?”
“Come to my office,” Li Zhaojun said coldly.
“Can’t you say it over the phone?
Don’t make a small matter into something that requires me to run up and down.
I’m quite busy,” said Ye Fan.
Having been through some hassles, he didn’t want to be running around again for something that could be easily discussed over the phone.
Li Zhaojun’s sexy lips couldn’t help but twitch.
This shameless man actually had the nerve to say he was busy – as if I didn’t know he’s the one with the most free time in the whole group, constantly taking leave to go out and play!
“No!” she said curtly, “I’m ordering you to come to my office immediately, in my capacity as the chairman!”
“Yes, got it,” came Ye Fan’s listless voice from the phone.
After hanging up, a small smile crept across Li Zhaojun’s lips; she could already imagine Ye Fan’s sullen face.
After a while, Ye Fan arrived nonchalantly, sat down on the sofa, and asked, “Director Li, what instructions do you have?”
“Come home for dinner after work,” said Li Zhaojun, maintaining her cool tone.
“Yes—” Ye Fan dragged out his reply, sounding dejected, his face the very picture of gloom.
Such a simple sentence could have been said over the phone, yet she insisted on him coming in person.
“That will be all, you can go back,” said Li Zhaojun, still in her cold tone, sitting erect in her office chair, facing forward, yet catching a glimpse of Ye Fan’s gloomy expression from the corner of her seductive, narrow eyes.
“Yes—” Ye Fan responded again, his voice listless, then stood up and walked out of the office.
Once Ye Fan had left, a hint of smugness played on Li Zhaojun’s lips, “Hmph, that’ll teach you to be fickle – if not making you miserable, then who?”
Then she picked up her phone and called the family chef, instructing to prepare two more meat dishes on short notice.
