Invincible Young Master in the City -
Chapter 112 - 112 108 A Woman's Intuition
112: Chapter 108: A Woman’s Intuition 112: Chapter 108: A Woman’s Intuition At noon, just before the lunch break, Lu Xiaoman picked up her phone, hesitated for a while, but still decided to text Ye Fan to ask if he wanted to have lunch together.
After turning down Ye Fan’s invitation last Saturday, she felt a bit uneasy, worrying that Ye Fan might really be upset.
So she decided to take advantage of lunchtime to have an intimate chat and comfort him.
When Ye Fan received the message, he replied immediately, “Sure, I’ll find you after work, and then we can go to the cafeteria together.”
As for Li Zhaojun’s warning, to hell with it.
Finally, when it struck twelve o’clock and work ended, Xie Junru and others called out to Ye Fan to join them for lunch.
He replied with a smile, “You go ahead, I’ll join in a bit.”
Guessing that Ye Fan was probably going to meet with Lu Xiaoman, they all showed knowing smiles and didn’t insist on their invitation anymore.
Ye Fan left the office and arrived at Lu Xiaoman’s office.
Waiting for him, she was still sitting in front of the computer, tapping away at the keyboard.
“Hehe, Xiaoman sis.” He walked to the desk, stretched out his hand to tap lightly on the surface with his fingers, while deliberately leaning over to peek at Lu Xiaoman’s chest.
Lu Xiaoman looked up to see Ye Fan, who was leaning over like a lecher, trying to take advantage of her.
She instinctively let out an “ah,” quickly covered her chest with her hands, and leaned back.
“Pervert!” Her face flushed, she glared at Ye Fan and chastised him sweetly.
Ye Fan, with a mischievous grin, said, “There are those who wish I’d be a pervert to them, and I still wouldn’t oblige.”
“Please, can you not be so shameless?” Lu Xiaoman said, seemingly speechless on the surface, yet delighted inside.
“How can I get by if I’m not thick-skinned?” Ye Fan said with a smile, reaching out to hold Lu Xiaoman’s small hand, feeling its unmatched smoothness and softness.
Lu Xiaoman didn’t struggle and let Ye Fan hold her hand.
However, she turned her blushing face away, not looking at Ye Fan.
After a while, Ye Fan said, “Let’s go, let’s eat together.”
“Mhm.” Lu Xiaoman responded, withdrew her hand, then stood up, took a couple of deep breaths to cool her heated cheeks.
In the company cafeteria, Ye Fan and Lu Xiaoman arrived late, so they could only sit at a table beside the aisle to eat.
However, no sooner had they sat down opposite each other, Li Zhaojun entered the cafeteria, exuding a powerful presence.
Ye Fan sat with his back to the cafeteria door, but as the noisy chatter abruptly hushed, he immediately guessed that Li Zhaojun had arrived.
Sure enough, the sound of rhythmic high heels clicking on the tile reached his ears from behind, followed immediately by goosebumps prickling up his back; even without looking, he knew that Li Zhaojun’s lethal gaze had swept over him.
Yet, what of it?
Ye Fan continued eating his meal with composure.
The clicking of the high heels drew nearer until, at last, beside him, his keen hearing picked up a barely perceptible scornful snort from Li Zhaojun’s nostrils.
Passing by Ye Fan, Li Zhaojun continued towards the exclusive cafeteria for the management team.
The fairly good mood she’d been in was suddenly clouded by dust, like a shiny, gleaming mirror abruptly coated in a layer of dust, annoying!
Ye Fan remained unfazed by Li Zhaojun’s displeased snort.
He had already tried to avoid sitting with Lu Xiaoman for lunch, but was it really impossible to eat with her occasionally?
He wasn’t someone who simply followed orders, and besides, Li Zhaojun didn’t have the right to demand that of him.
After Li Zhaojun entered the exclusive cafeteria, the people in the cafeteria resumed their earlier conversations, albeit in noticeably quieter tones.
Lu Xiaoman quietly called Ye Fan, “Ye Fan, Ye Fan.”
“Hmm?” Ye Fan responded and looked up at Lu Xiaoman, waiting for her to speak.
With slightly furrowed brows, Lu Xiaoman said softly to Ye Fan, “Why do I feel like Director Li kind of dislikes me?”
“”””Could it be that you’ve got it wrong?
She always has a stern face, no matter who she’s dealing with,” Ye Fan consoled.
“You don’t have any direct interactions with her, do you?”
“No.
I’m just a low-level employee, and she’s the high and mighty chairman.
We haven’t even spoken a word to each other, how could there be any direct interactions?” Lu Xiaoman said.
Ye Fan smiled and said, “Well, that settles it, right?
You’re just overthinking it.”
“But I really do feel that way.
When she came in just now, she seemed to have a hint of a smile on her face, but as soon as she saw me, it faded, and I felt like her gaze held dissatisfaction,” Lu Xiaoman said gloomily.
“I don’t know why it would be like that.”
Ye Fan was secretly startled by the sharpness of women’s intuition but tried to brush off Lu Xiaoman’s concerns, “Don’t be so suspicious, it’s like the man who suspects someone of stealing his axe.
Let’s just eat.”
“Maybe you’re right.” Lu Xiaoman also felt she might be a bit too sensitive.
…
…
Around 3:30 in the afternoon, Ye Fan suddenly received a call from Li Zhaojun.
“Come to my office, now,” the emotionless voice of Li Zhaojun came through the phone.
Ye Fan lazily responded, “Can’t you just tell me over the phone?”
“I’m asking you to come up in my capacity as the chairman.
You don’t have the right to refuse,” Li Zhaojun said.
“Using your position to pressure people again.
Fine, I’ll come up,” Ye Fan said, resigned.
After hanging up, Ye Fan took his time getting back to his office, drank a glass of water, and then leisurely made his way to Li Zhaojun’s office.
When Ye Fan knocked and entered Li Zhaojun’s office, he found the chairman’s secretary, Wang Siyan, was there, reporting on some work to Li Zhaojun.
This time, Li Zhaojun didn’t send Wang Siyan away right away but left Ye Fan hanging as she continued to ask about the work detail leisurely.
Ye Fan didn’t mind; he walked straight over to the sofa, sat down, crossed his legs and waited patiently.
About five or six minutes passed before Li Zhaojun glanced at Ye Fan out of the corner of her eye and finally concluded her conversation with Wang Siyan, sending her away.
With no outsiders present, Ye Fan waited for Li Zhaojun to question him about dining with Lu Xiaoman at noon.
However, Li Zhaojun sat upright in her luxurious executive chair, looking down at him, and said indifferently, “Go home for dinner this evening.”
Actually, she was in a good mood.
She planned to have dinner together to probe Ye Fan about the proactive partnership offer from Changhua Investment Fund — whether it was his doing, or if his mother had stumbled upon her plight and offered help unintentionally.
She was hoping it was Ye Fan’s doing; that would mean he wasn’t completely heartless, not even fit to be compared to a wastrel.
“Understood,” Ye Fan replied.
“That’s all, you can go back to work,” Li Zhaojun said impassively.
“Huh?” Ye Fan couldn’t help exclaiming, immediately realizing that Li Zhaojun was deliberately teasing him, most likely in retaliation for her displeasure at noon.
Seeing Ye Fan’s reaction, Li Zhaojun’s sensual lips couldn’t help but curl slightly, and the corners of her narrow eyes unintentionally revealed a touch of charming allure.
Having learned from a previous experience, Ye Fan knew that Li Zhaojun really only had this to say.
“Haha, consider it physical exercise,” he joked self-deprecatingly, then got up and left.
