Chapter 183: Chapter 183: [Extra] Overnight Stay
"You’re definitely not at ease, right?"
Jiang Yurou looked at Zhou Ming and blinked her eyes; even though she didn’t speak, her eyes clearly conveyed her thoughts.
Zhou Ming gazed into Jiang Yurou’s spirited eyes, his own filled with laughter.
He was far from reassured, and he didn’t want Jiang Yurou to go back. "It’s also not safe so late," Zhou Ming said.
Jiang Yurou’s eyes twinkled with amusement as she waited for him to continue.
"Why don’t you stay," Zhou Ming said in a deep voice. After speaking, he seemed a bit nervous, biting his lip and looking into Jiang Yurou’s eyes with unease.
"Okay," Jiang Yurou agreed with a smile.
She had been waiting for that very sentence. With it being so late, of course she wanted to stay. Zhou Ming got Jiang Yurou some toiletries and watched her walk into the bathroom, then he looked around the room at the only bed, and then back towards the bathroom, his ears turning red.
Zhou Ming quickly straightened the already tidy bed. The bed was big enough for two people. After he had made the bed, he looked again towards the bathroom, then inexplicably walked toward the room’s exit. "Where are you going?"
Jiang Yurou came out and, seeing Zhou Ming’s retreating back, asked in confusion, "I... I’ll sleep outside."
Zhou Ming said somewhat awkwardly. At that moment, he didn’t even dare to look back, his ears flaming red.
Seeing him like this, Jiang Yurou hurried over and hugged him from behind, panic in her eyes. Zhou Ming froze for a moment, the warmth from Jiang Yurou’s body making him even more nervous, his hand reaching out to push her away.
"Weren’t you the one who said you’d never push me away again?" Jiang Yurou clung tightly, her voice cracking slightly.
The two had just reconciled, and Jiang Yurou was still feeling sensitive, worried that Zhou Ming’s earlier words were just to comfort her.
After tonight, it was uncertain if they would revert to how they had been before, but Jiang Yurou didn’t want to go back to that, afraid she would truly part ways with Zhou Ming.
The tight embrace of Jiang Yurou made Zhou Ming’s heart ache deeply, feeling a strong sense of pity for her.
The nervousness he had felt about sharing a room with Jiang Yurou dissipated, and he held tightly to the hands that were embracing him. The warmth passed from hand to hand, conveying a sense of security as well.
After a long while, Jiang Yurou finally let go, but their hands remained clasped together and did not part.
"Would you mind not going?" Jiang Yurou asked, looking at Zhou Ming.
Zhou Ming glanced at her and slowly nodded.
There was only one bed in the room, and even though Zhou Ming wouldn’t leave to sleep elsewhere, he couldn’t share it with Jiang Yurou yet, so he fetched bedding from the closet and set up a makeshift bed beside the main bed.
Jiang Yurou watched and wanted to help, but Zhou Ming pressed her onto the edge of the bed.
"You sleep first, I’ll be done quickly," Zhou Ming said.
The night deepened, and the room’s light was still on. Jiang Yurou lay on the bed and turned her head to look at Zhou Ming lying on the floor. Still feeling it was not enough, she turned over and gazed at Zhou Ming with eyes full of tenderness.
"It’s getting late, let’s go to sleep," Zhou Ming said, also looking at Jiang Yurou.
Jiang Yurou shook her head, looking at Zhou Ming, feeling that this moment was especially good, and suddenly wished it could last a little bit longer.
"Zhou Ming, you have me in your heart, and I like you too, can’t we just be together?" Jiang Yurou spoke softly.
Although Zhou Ming had concerns and didn’t voice his affection, Jiang Yurou thought she could definitely feel his heart, and that was enough for her.
Zhou Ming looked at Jiang Yurou on the bed, the soft light in the room casting a gentle glow on her, making her seem utterly tender and as beautiful as a painting.
Zhou Ming looked at her, and hearing Jiang Yurou’s words, how could he bear to refuse? "Mhm," Zhou Ming replied, his tone filled with firmness, though he didn’t say much.
Listening to him, Jiang Yurou saw the determination in Zhou Ming’s eyes and couldn’t help but smile brightly.
Zhou Ming was watching and was unintentionally mesmerized. After Jiang Yurou felt at peace, exhaustion washed over her, and she slowly fell asleep.
The room was quiet, with nothing but the sound of breathing. Zhou Ming looked at Jiang Yurou’s closed eyes, silently keeping her company beside her.
After a long while, probably ensuring that Jiang Yurou was sound asleep, Zhou Ming finally got up from the floor and stood up to turn off the light.
However, after standing up and looking at Jiang Yurou’s peacefully sleeping face, with her gentle breathing filling the room, and seemingly even the air infused with her scent, Zhou Ming instinctively walked over to her, sat by the bed, and stared at the sleeping Jiang Yurou, feeling as if he could never get enough.
"Yurou?" Zhou Ming called out softly. Jiang Yurou, who had been exhausted from the day’s events, slept deeply and didn’t stir.
Zhou Ming watched her for a while longer, then slowly bent down and gently kissed her forehead.
At that moment, his eyes were filled with suppressed affection. "Goodnight," Zhou Ming softly said. Finally, he stood up, turned off the light that had been on half the night, and slept on the floor.
The next morning, Jiang Yurou slowly woke up, yawning greatly, feeling like she had slept very well.
But when she opened her eyes and saw the unfamiliar surroundings, she was initially startled, then hurriedly looked towards the bedside after remembering what had happened the night before.
Zhou Ming was sleeping right next to her on the floor, deeply asleep without a sign of waking soon.
Jiang Yurou looked at him, immediately smiling, and then lay back down, facing Zhou Ming on the floor.
It was wonderful to wake up and see Zhou Ming.
Smiling, Jiang Yurou hugged the blanket tightly with one hand, and with the other, she gestured in the air, tracing Zhou Ming’s features.
After a long while, as the morning sun shone into the room, Zhou Ming’s biological clock finally woke him. Jiang Yurou quickly withdrew her hand, turned over, and closed her eyes, pretending to sleep.
Zhou Ming, momentarily bewildered, looked at the still-sleeping Jiang Yurou, also feeling very happy and smiling.
"Good morning," Zhou Ming said softly as he looked at Jiang Yurou, then got up to wash up.
Unable to hold back any longer, Jiang Yurou suddenly pulled the blanket over her head, her face still adorned with an irrepressible smile.
