"A boy or a girl, either is fine with me, as long as it’s yours," he said, his voice as smooth as jade.

His answer was perfect, but to Xinan, it felt too official. "No, you have to choose one."

Cheng Yi gave a helpless smile, "Then let’s hope for a boy."

That day, after a prenatal checkup at a private hospital, Cheng Yi took Xinan to a shopping mall to buy baby supplies.

"Yeah, the baby clothes are all so adorable, I can’t decide which one to pick." Xinan held up a blue T-shirt and a pink skirt in front of Cheng Yi, "Look how cute these are, and that little suit, so handsome!"

Cheng Yi nodded, "Then let’s get them all."

"But we don’t know yet if the baby is a boy or a girl, wouldn’t it be a waste to buy everything?" Xinan worried.

"Nannan, are you trying to save me money?" Cheng Yi smiled happily.

"I just don’t want anything to go to waste."

Cheng Yi wrapped his arms around her waist, "It’s okay, let’s buy them all."

"Alright." It was the only option.

Since they didn’t know the sex of the baby, Xinan ended up buying two of everything that followed.

Clothes, baby chairs, diapers, nappies, feeding bottles... After purchasing these, Xinan started choosing baby formula.

There were so many brands of formula, but luckily Xinan had done her homework beforehand and went straight for a German import.

Cheng Yi, pushing the shopping cart, followed her, looking every bit the picture of a dutiful domestic partner.

Worried that Xinan might have to wait too long, Cheng Yi moved quickly. In less than ten minutes, he was back, and he even had a box of peeled grapes in hand.

Lately, Xinan had heard somewhere that eating grapes could give their child big and round eyes, so she started eating them by the bunch to give their baby big eyes.

Since reconciling with Cheng Yi, Xinan had grown accustomed to being lazy, especially during pregnancy, doing as little as possible.

So even though the grapes were peeled, it was Cheng Yi who fed them to her one by one.

For his part, Cheng Yi had no complaints. In fact, he quite enjoyed it. Every time he saw Xinan satisfied, he couldn’t help but laugh, "My dear wife, do you want another one?"

Each time Xinan nodded, Cheng Yi fed her another grape, creating a harmonious scene that even passersby would envy.

After finishing, Xinan felt it wasn’t enough. After they left the mall, she bought a pineapple and ate it while she and Cheng Yi walked to the parking spot.
