Chapter 143: Chapter 143: You’re not heartbroken like this, are you?

"Why should he know?" Jiang Yurou didn’t quite understand.

Xinan sighed silently, "It’s okay, as long as you’re happy. When will you bring him out for us to meet?"

Twirling her hair, Jiang Yurou said, "We’ll talk about that later; he’s a bit hard to chase."

Xinan was shocked again, "What! You’re chasing him? You’re not together yet?"

"Yeah, what about it?"

"It’s nothing, I just never imagined that one day you would take the initiative to chase someone."

Jiang Yurou smiled, "It’s not easy for me to be moved, so I don’t want to miss out..."

"What are you girls talking about? Come and pick a song." Tan Bo appeared, interrupting their conversation.

"Coming, coming," answered Jiang Yurou, and then she gave Xinan a look, "Nannan, what song do you want to sing?"

"I won’t sing," said Xinan, knowing her limits.

Seeing that Xinan wouldn’t sing, Jiang Yurou turned her attention to Cheng Yi, "Brother Yi, sing a song for us, will you? It’s been so long since I’ve heard you sing."

After speaking, Jiang Yurou added, "And Nannan wants to hear you sing, too."

After Jiang Yurou left, Cheng Yi had already sat down next to Xinan, and upon hearing this, he looked down at Xinan and asked softly, "Do you really want to listen?"

Xinan nodded vigorously, of course she wanted to listen. Jiang Yurou had told her that Cheng Yi sang for her when she was drunk before, but she had no recollection when she woke up, which had always been a regret in her heart.

Looking at Xinan’s starry eyes, Cheng Yi smiled and asked, "What song do you want to hear?"

"When the Grapes Are Ripe," Xinan replied without hesitation.

"Okay."

Cheng Yi walked up to the song-selection machine and picked the song, and seeing this, Jiang Yurou quickly handed him the microphone.

Taking the microphone, Cheng Yi waited quietly for the intro and then sang softly into it, "Nearly winter solstice, rain comes both morning and evening, your initial persistence, now leaves you doubting, so much doubting, in the end, all that’s left are these withered branches..."

When Cheng Yi sang, his voice became especially deep and magnetic, extremely sexy, and with his Cantonese accent, he was simply electrifying!

This version of Cheng Yi was truly mesmerizing.

After the song ended, everyone felt they hadn’t had enough, so Cheng Yi, albeit helplessly, sang another one, "True Friend."

As Cheng Yi stepped away from the karaoke machine, Tan Bo lounged with a leg propped up, a cigarette hanging from his lips, and teased in a roguish manner, "Seems like my title as Prince of Love Songs is soon to be at risk."

Cheng Yi didn’t respond to his remark but went straight to Xinan, "So, are you satisfied?"

"Super satisfied."

Cheng Yi smiled, "That’s good then."

Xinan said, "You sing so well, why do you never sing when others ask you to?"

If it had been Tan Bo, he certainly would have loved for everyone to know how great he sings.

Cheng Yi smiled lightly and said, "Because I only want to sing for you..."

Xinan bowed her head slightly, her face tinged with a blush, "I’ve noticed that recently you’ve become more and more..."

"More and more what?"

"More and more adept at sweet-talking."

Cheng Yi, upon hearing her, curled up the corners of his mouth, "Isn’t this nice?"

Xinan shook her head, "No, it’s just... I’m not quite used to it."

"Well, get used to it slowly, because from now on, my sweet nothings are meant for you alone."

Xinan replied, "Okay."

As the gathering was about to end, Jiang Yurou had gone to the restroom, and Cheng Yi went to the front desk to pay the bill. For a moment, the private room was left with only Xinan and Tan Bo.

Xinan hesitated internally for a moment but still asked, "What do you think about Rourou’s situation?"

A fleeting, unnatural expression crossed Tan Bo’s face. He took a deep drag on his cigarette, his eyes deep and complex, "She told you, huh..."

"So, what do you really think? Do you like Rourou or not?" Xinan asked somewhat eagerly.

Tan Bo exhaled the smoke, "I do like her."

"Then why do you let her fall for someone else?"

Tan Bo looked at Xinan with a somewhat helpless tone, "Nannan, I can stop anything, but the one thing I can’t stop is her heart."

Over the years, he had always been by Jiang Yurou’s side as Brother Yi and a true friend. She loved her freedom, so he let her pursue it. She didn’t like to be restrained, so he was willing to wait for her.

But when he found out she had fallen for someone else, he didn’t know what to do. He couldn’t bring himself to snatch her back; choosing to let go, he felt unwilling. It truly was a conundrum!

"Are you really planning to just let go like this?" Xinan asked, clearly feeling it was a pity.

"How could I?" Tan Bo smiled. "Maybe it’s just a whim, and in a few days, she’ll be over it. Who hasn’t had a crush before?"

It seemed Tan Bo was also trying to convince himself, "After she spends a few days with that person, she’ll realize love isn’t as simple as she thought."

Xinan, seeing him this way, felt somewhat helpless, "Just don’t regret it later."

After a while, Xinan said, "Brother Tan Bo, I want you to promise me something."

"What is it?" he asked.

"If Rourou really likes that person and is happy with him, I hope you won’t make it hard for them."

The hand holding the cigarette paused; Tan Bo fell silent for quite a while and didn’t speak. At that moment, Jiang Yurou returned from the restroom. She picked up her purse from the sofa, "Let’s go."

She didn’t notice the change in the expressions of Xinan and Tan Bo.

Xinan straightened up her clothes, her gaze moving away from Tan Bo, "Yeah, let’s go."

After Xinan and Cheng Yi drove away, Jiang Yurou began walking towards Tan Bo’s car; she hadn’t driven herself today.

Of course, there was no need for her to drive whenever Tan Bo was around.

But after walking several steps, Jiang Yurou realized that Tan Bo hadn’t followed. She frowned and called out, "Tan Bo, what are you standing there for?"

Tan Bo came back to his senses, then extinguished the cigarette butt and tossed it into the trash can.

The car drove to the entrance of the residential area. Jiang Yurou unbuckled her seat belt, ready to get out, when she saw Tan Bo light up another cigarette. A sudden pang of emotion flashed through her, "I’ve noticed you’ve been smoking a lot more lately!"

"Have I?" Tan Bo gave a bitter smile; it was the first time Jiang Yurou had taken note of something about him.

"Yeah."

Jiang Yurou took another look at Tan Bo and realized his mood was off today. Connecting it with the sight of him smoking earlier, she asked, "You’re not heartbroken, are you?"

Hearing this comment, Tan Bo started coughing violently, nearly choking on the smoke. He covered his mouth with his hand, taking a while to recover before saying, "Listen to what you’re saying. Me... how could Tan Bo ever be heartbroken."

"It’s good that you’re not heartbroken! Don’t smoke in the car in the future; it’s suffocating." Jiang Yurou waved her hand in front of her nose and then stepped out of the car.
