Chapter 108: Am I Handsome?
Chapter 108: Chapter 108: Am I Handsome?
Xinan frowned and replied, "Is there something?"
Cheng Yi said, "I want to invite you to dinner."
Xinan pursed her lips, wondering why he hadn’t mentioned it while they were in the car.
She snorted and typed in the chat box, "Sorry, you’re too late. I already have plans for tomorrow."
Cheng Yi asked, "Who?"
Xinan thought to herself that although Li Hongya was already in his forties, he looked just like a handsome man in his thirties.
Xinan curled her lips and replied, "A very elegant handsome man."
Then Xinan saw Cheng Yi send three question marks in a row.
"Am I not more handsome?"
"Am I not richer?"
"Do I not have a better body?"
After reading his messages, Xinan laughed out loud. Cheng Yi was indeed more handsome than Li Hongya, richer, and even younger.
But as for the body, she couldn’t really say, since she had only seen Cheng Yi’s...
At that thought, Xinan’s face turned slightly red.
She shook her head, trying to banish those suggestive images from her mind. However, she wondered how she had never noticed Cheng Yi’s vanity before.
What if someone was indeed richer and more attractive than him?
But then again, on second thought, there probably wasn’t anyone in Jing City richer than him... and his looks were unmatched even on a national level.
At that moment, Xinan hated how unfairly fate seemed to favor some people more than others, wondering what royal ’window’ was closed on Cheng Yi.
Suddenly, a mischievous thought crossed Xinan’s mind. She smiled and replied, "Hmm... he does seem a bit more handsome than you."
Then, Xinan received another message.
Cheng Yi: "Where are you having dinner?"
Xinan, puzzled, said, "What’s wrong?"
Cheng Yi replied instantly, "I want to see just how handsome he is, and also pick someone up to take home."
"Oh," Xinan replied.
She sent him the address.
At six o’clock the next evening, Xinan left her house with light makeup on.
Arriving at Haowei Hotel, Xinan couldn’t help but think about Cheng Yi’s birthday celebration.
If it hadn’t been for Han Jibai’s car accident, she would have probably spent a wonderful night there with Cheng Yi.
However, the reality was that neither of them had a good time that night.
Li Hongya was already there when Xinan arrived.
"I’m sorry to keep you waiting," she said apologetically.
Li Hongya smiled slightly, stood up, and pulled out a chair for her, "No worries, I arrived too early."
He handed her the menu and said, "I didn’t know what you like, so I only ordered you a cup of tea."
"I’m not picky," she said. "Just order a few dishes. That will be fine."
"Alright, then I’ll order for you."
"Thank you."
Xinan glanced around; the restaurant’s ambiance was exceptionally elegant and serene, with a lady in a white dress playing the piano in the lobby, her music melodious and moving.
"President Li, I doubt you invited me here just for dinner," Xinan cut to the chase.
Li Hongya sipped his drink and chuckled, "Since Miss Xinan is so straightforward, I won’t beat around the bush. Do you remember what I mentioned to you before?"
"I remember."
"Right, since you agreed to dine with me today, it shows you’re somewhat interested, so I won’t hide it from you."
Li Hongya stated calmly, "The purpose of making this movie isn’t to make money, but to commemorate my deceased fiancée. I chose you because you resemble her."
Xinan said, "I see. I was wondering why anyone would want me for a film given my current situation."
"I’ve heard about your recent troubles, so regarding the remuneration, as long as it’s not too outrageous, I can accommodate," Li Hongya said generously.
"Alright, I agree to star in the movie, but I have one condition... can I decide who gets the role of the second female lead?"
"No problem," he said, as long as she was the lead actress, he wasn’t concerned about the rest of the cast.
At that moment, the waiter brought in the dishes, and Li Hongya gracefully offered the utensils to Xinan.
"Thank you."
Li Hongya smiled slightly, elegantly carving his steak, and then said, "I heard... you’ve terminated your contract with your agency?"
Xinan put a piece of cut steak into her mouth and nodded slightly upon hearing Li Hongya’s words.
"Have you decided which company you want to sign with next?"
With a wry smile, Xinan said, "With my current reputation, which company would dare sign me..."
Li Hongya looked at her and after a few seconds of silence suddenly said, "If you don’t mind, the doors of Tianwen Entertainment are always open for you."
He paused and then added, "That friend of yours is also with our company. If you come, you two will still have each other’s company."
Good friend? Since when did she have a good friend at Tianwen Entertainment?
Xinan looked puzzled, but soon realized who Li Hongya was referring to; it must be Lin Wei.
"I only know her, we’re not actually friends, and I haven’t been in contact with her," Xinan clarified.
"I thought you were close friends," Li Hongya remarked.
Xinan understood why he would think that, as it was Ding Lan who had introduced Lin Wei, so it was reasonable for him to think they were close.
Who knew how many benefits Lin Wei had secured behind her back by leveraging their acquaintance?
Xinan shook her head with a smile.
"So, you really won’t consider Tianwen Entertainment?"
Li Hongya was a shrewd businessman and wouldn’t engage in a losing deal. Although Xinan was currently out of favor, he knew it was only temporary. Her potential was significant, and if he could sign her, she would undoubtedly bring substantial gains to Tianwen Entertainment in the future.
Xinan hesitated, about to speak, when a deep, pleasant voice with a magnetic quality interrupted her, "No need, she won’t consider it."
As these words were spoken, the smile on Li Hongya’s face visibly froze, but when he saw the young man who had appeared before him, the stiffness disappeared completely.
"So, it’s Mr. Yi. Do you know Xinan?"
Cheng Yi looked at the man sitting across from Xinan. He wasn’t surprised that the man knew him, but he had no recollection of him.
Though the man was fairly good-looking, he still fell short compared to himself.
Xinan hadn’t expected Cheng Yi to actually come; she felt a bit embarrassed and said to Li Hongya, "I’m sorry, President Li, this is my friend."
Li Hongya nodded in understanding, "Miss Xinan’s connections are indeed extensive, I see you even know Mr. Yi."
Xinan smiled and didn’t say a word, really wishing she could just disappear into a hole at that moment.
"Mr. Yi, since we all know each other, if you don’t mind, why don’t you join us for dinner?"
Anyone could tell it was just a polite remark, but Cheng Yi responded, "I was actually thinking the same."
After saying that, he walked around the table and sat down next to Xinan.
