Chapter 184 – Expected Event

I lifted my hands in surrender.

“Please go easy on me.”

“No.”

This made Suuru giggle again, and I couldn’t help but smile, too. From my point of view, it was her personality that was truly unique.

“You can do as you like. I need to get going soon. Let’s talk to the workers first.”

We headed back to the construction site and spoke with the manager.

“Good morning. You’re making impressive progress. Thank you for the good work.”

“I’d like to introduce you to one of my employees. Her name is Minsto, and she’s a rank 3 metal mage, as you can see. She wants to help with the construction.”

The woman scowled a little but didn’t deny her immediately as she did for Suuru. This was understandable. Most of her workers were rank 1 or 2, while she was rank 3. It was hard to deny how much help someone of such rank could provide.

“Will that change anything about our pay?”

“No. You can consider her a volunteer.”

The manager looked at Minsto.

“Any experience with construction work?”

“No.”

“Can you cast metal molding?”

“Yes.”

“You’re hired.”

The process was fast and clean. Suuru pouted a bit due to the difference in treatment between her and Minsto, but this was how the world worked. Being higher ranked was an incredible advantage in all aspects of life.

I said goodbye to this group of women and started my day as usual. Sales in 6 were now almost at the same level as the ones we had in 82. As long as this business continued, we wouldn’t have any trouble paying Minsto’s salary or building a factory in the future.

I checked on the war between the three countries after work since it had been a while. After the initial large battle, there had been one more and a lot of small skirmishes. However, so far, there still hasn’t been any decisive victory on either side. Thuk was having a hard time handling two enemies at the same time, but they weren’t broken yet, especially when the war became a defensive one. Still, they weren’t doing that well overall, being pressed on several sides simultaneously.

I came back home to see the building workers gone for the day. Suuru was in the house preparing food while Minsto was still walking around the workshop, examining every wall in detail.

“I’m back. How was your day, Minsto?”

“Too hot.”

“Haha, right. Why don’t you go wash to refresh yourself?”

“Yes.”

We entered the house, and I told Suuru that Minsto wanted to use the bathroom. She stopped her cooking and grinned at us.

“Oh… Why don’t we all go together?”

“It is.”

“I want us to all go together.”
