Insect Tamer's Ascension
Chapter 114 - 114: 114 The advantage of a flying type beast (2/2)

Elira looked at Theo and smiled, "That's a good idea, young master Theo. But I need to protect young master Bram right now."

"Don't worry about that, Clara is here." Theo said again persistently. For some reason, he really wanted to see the eagle fly.

Elira looked at Bram once, who just nodded while petting the calf's head. Her gaze fell on the eagle, and in just a moment, it opened its blaze-colored wings and jumped.

SWOOSH

Theo kept a hand near his face as the winds and dried leaves got swept everywhere.

The eagle had pushed forward and flapped both its wings once before it flew up. The action of such big wings had led to the generation of a lot of wind, dust, and dried leaves in the air.

Elira chuckled awkwardly while Bram laughed as if he was used to it.

Both Clara and Theo watched the big eagle flap its wings a few times and reach the top of one of the tallest trees they could see and vanish completely.

The trees were now obstructing their views, but the eagle was now above them, flying freely. It made a high-pitched, prolonged cry from above.

"Thank you, he is always happy when he gets to fly in an open space like this." Elira said and gave Theo a small bow.

"Would you like me to find some slimes too, young master?" she asked again and got a thumbs up from Bram.

Just ten seconds later, Clara kept a hand on the side of her forehead, and Theo knew the pup had finally found them.

"It's this way, young master." she spoke, and at the same time, Elira kept a hand on the side of her forehead too.

"I found 5 clearings with 4, 8, 2, 1, and 3 moss slimes, young master." Elira spoke, making Theo surprised.

"Which one are you taking us to, Clara?" Theo asked in curiosity, and Clara smiled.

"It's the 4 moss slime one we can go to first, young master. And then the others. As you have seen, there is no point in going to the clearing that has 8 slimes."

She looked toward Elira, and both their gazes clashed for a few seconds. Theo could only chuckle at that while Bram panicked.

"Thank for the scouting, Elira. But Clara had already sent a pup out before." Theo spoke and Elira only smiled.

Before coming to the forest with Bram, Theo had already known that some clashes will always be there. Clara was a competitive one, and aside from Theo and the others from the Merrick family, she was cold to everyone else.

And by Elira's reaction, it didn't seem like she didn't know about this already.

'What is she like when I am not with her?' Theo thought curiously.

It seemed Clara was popular about something among the staff, and while Theo knew some things, he still wanted to know the full details.

They all walked toward the next clearing and talked with each other as if it was normal.

Theo was surprised that Clara remained silent about this, especially since she'd been strict with him when they first entered the forest. Speaking and not using sign language in the forest was a bad habit.

It made him realize once again that in the end, Clara was only there for him and no one else.

Even if the world were to go downfall, her main focus would only be on Theo and her family. That was what Theo felt about her.

When they reached the next clearing, Theo made his way inside it with the mantis. Bram did the same but with hesitance.

Both the attendants were made to stay outside the clearing to just watch for now.

"You ready, elder brother?" Theo asked with a grin, and Bram nodded with enthusiasm.

He looked in the front and sent the calf toward the four slimes who had started to move toward them slowly.

When the calf came toward the first one casually, it moved its horns down, and the same thing happened as before.

They crackled with electric current, and soon, the slime was zapped within a second.

The slime stiffened and started bubbling like before, and Theo smiled, this was it.

'Metallic Strike.' Theo gave a mental command, and the mantis became a blur. Just a few seconds later, the slime had already popped, and the mantis was in its place with its forelegs still shining brightly.

"…" Theo frowned at the experience gain, but he quickly looked up again. He was thinking right. Bram had also started to look at his experience gain with sparkling eyes.

Before he could say anything, he got another second of emotions through his bond with the mantis. But before Theo could stop it, the mantis had already moved and killed another slime without any command.

"Elder brother, quickly!" Theo exclaimed and stopped the mantis from going for the others that were left.

The mantis twitched in irritation as if asking its master why he was stopping it.

Bram nodded in panic, and the calf went to one of the two left slimes quickly.

It zapped one of them again, and only then did Theo let the mantis kill the slime.

Another experience gain screen came in front of them, yet Bram did not make the same mistake again.

He quickly sent the calf again and made it ready. When the cooldown was over, another zap came through, and the slime stopped.

Theo had seen that this slime was level 3 right now, while he was sure that the calf's skill was at 0. He wanted to know just how efficient it would be like this.

And his thoughts were correct. While the slime may have been zapped. it started moving again within seconds again.

There was panic in its movements as if what it experienced right now was not something it liked.

Before it could move anymore, the mantis went and slashed its core, making it crack and the slime became a slush.
