Chapter 357 - 357 - Last step to make it official (Part 10)

The morning after, it was another breakfast with one missing person though it was a different one this time. Just like Helios after our first night together, Calyx opted to stay inside his room the whole day to rest and requested for all his meals to be delivered in there as well.

Since this is not the first time that we are missing a person during breakfast, it is surely easy for others to tell that it is no longer just someone's sudden whim or even a coincidence. When I sat at the dining table, all eyes are on me again. Like how I face the breakfast yesterday, I pretended not to see everyone's questioning glances and just ate my meal.

Helios and Aurum were also keeping their heads down most of the time and busying themselves with just eating their meals in silence. Helios only looked at me once when I arrived at the dining area. The amount of time he looked at me straight in the eyes was obviously a few seconds too long to just be called a glance. He has that knowing look in his eyes when he looked my way after he noticed that Calyx's dining seat was empty this time.

Nobody talked about Calyx's absence though everybody clearly noticed and wanted to know more about the reason that he was not around. They may have their own reasons as to why they chose to stay quiet. I clearly also have mine so let's just ignore all this awkwardness and focus on filling my belly with all these amazing dishes that the palace chefs prepared for us.

After another painfully awkward breakfast with my in-laws and my four husbands, just like yesterday, I gave a peck on the lips for each husband to keep everyone happy. I then spent the rest of the day just like how I did yesterday too, reading, researching and producing more stuff that can be sold for money.

I quite enjoyed how productive yesterday was and I realized that I should get used to this routine while I am in the palace these days. Since I have decided that this is how I would be spending my free time for the next two days that I would be staying here. For sure, my evenings would be dedicated to spending my intimate time with my new husbands. I feel like I should enjoy this relatively relaxed time while I still can.

After completing the last step of the Athanoviya Marriage ritual, it would be time to go back to the same busy routine of a typical student. I won't be as free as I am now since I had to go back to the academe to attend the classes I am currently enrolled in again. My weekends will also be spent and divided to different places once again to keep the husbands that are currently living away from me happy and contented.

Time flew by as I got busy with all the different tasks from late morning (right after breakfast) to early evening (right after dinner). I opted to have my lunch and dinner in the room as usual to avoid the tension filled meal times with the others. Who would even have the appetite to eat amidst all those questioning looks and awkwardness?

My men are all smart and I am quite sure that they would have figured out by now why someone is always missing during the breakfasts during the last two days. I guess you could say that it was only Aurum who was not included in the recent incident.

His case is clearly different since he stayed with me inside that bedroom longer compared to the others, being the main husband and all in the family laws. Our stay in his bedroom, if converted, was equal to about two weeks time. He not only was able to find his rhythm from all the strenuous activities we did but also had ample rest during those days to recuperate and train his stamina. His body eventually got used to it after about a week of being tossed around by me so he did not need to stay in his room for a whole day of rest afterwards.

When it was around the middle of the evening, I have deemed that it was finally the time to pay a visit to palace husband number four. It was a quick walk and in under five minutes, I was already standing in front of Xenos' door.

I just stood there for a while but had no intention of knocking for now. I can clearly feel him totally alert inside his room waiting for me to announce my arrival and that I will be staying the night with him this time.

I smirked and thought that each husband is really a different kind of fun so my life will never be boring for life. Curious as to how someone who is clearly expecting me to arrive would react, I quickly turned around without any intention of masking my presence or any sound made by my feet. I then started walking down the corridor briskly in a direction away from Xenos' bedroom.

I was only able to take a couple of steps when Xenos' bedroom door swung open accompanied by a loud creak and a thud as the back of the door slammed on the wall. Afterwards, came the sad and complaining voice of Xenos as he said, "Wife! Are you that heartless that you are okay with leaving me in the cold tonight?"

I stopped walking but still did not turn around to face him or answer his question. It is not that I am heartless or anything. It was just that I am trying my hardest not to laugh at Xenos' dramatic choice of lines which was of the same level as Kayden and Lark when they are trying to get attention from me.

Since I did not react even one bit or even turned around to face him, I heard him stomp out of his room in a hurry. He grabbed me by my wrist and then he started pulling me to go inside his room. I did not fight back that much and just let him pull me. He was facing his room and it was funny how he did not see the victorious smile on my face right now.

Once inside the room, he kicked the door close with another bang. He continued stomping his way on to where his bed is while still having me in tow. When we were just a few steps away from the edge of the bed, he let go of my wrist as if he was holding on to something that scalded his hand.

He quickly turned around to face me and I had to give my all to keep my face neutral. When I saw his face, instead of anger, he had a very obvious frown as if the whole world worked together to bully him. I did not want to anger him any further but once I saw his facial expression, I could not help but smile at him which clearly made him even more unhappy.

His frown turned to a scowl quickly then he turned his back on me. He walked briskly around his bed to get to the other side of it, laid on it and then covered his whole body and even his head with a blanket. These series of motions were done in just a matter of seconds which rendered me quite speechless.

With how he acted, he is clearly telling me that he was pissed and it would take a lot more effort to pacify him. I just wanted to prank him but I did not know he had the tendency to be grouchy when he wants something and you did not give it to him at the time he wanted to get it.

I slowly slid under the sheets where he was currently hiding. His back was the one facing my side of the bed. I inched towards him little by little and just hugged him from behind. I did not do any unnecessary movements and just enjoyed the heat coming from his skin and the scent of his body,

I heard him gasp as he did not expect the sudden hug from behind. Maybe he was surprised with the softness that hit his back too but I am really not sure. When he realized that his will to resist me was weakening too quickly, he tried to grab on to my arms and remove it from around his waist. Well, let us just say he was unsuccessful with the strength he currently has.

I heard him click his tongue in frustration as he realized that he can't get out of my hug even if he used all of his strength. I teasingly whispered on to his ear, "We are finally together and you are still so cranky. What can I do to make it up to you Mr. Grumpy?"

My teasing was proven to be effective as he quickly turned around to face me. He complained, starting a tirade of rants with a mix of scolding, "Who are you calling grumpy, huh? Whose fault do you think it is that I am this irritated right now? Do you know how excited I am to be with you then you just went and stood outside the door? What's worse is you did not knock and you even started walking away! What do you want me to feel then?"
