Chapter 1384: Chapter 1261: How Is It Them!

Bai Xiaosheng and his companions’ car was heading toward the final checkpoint leading to the Wei Family’s villa complex.

As they got closer, Bai Xiaosheng could see more clearly what he had previously assumed was a cluster of villas. In truth, these structures resembled more of a synthesis between a European-style castle and modern villas, with the main building and its numerous additional constructions seamlessly connected, stretching endlessly to the sides and exuding a majestic aura.

Bai Xiaosheng believed that behind these buildings, there must be a large spread of additional structures, perhaps resembling a Western estate or the integration of traditional Chinese courtyards.

"I really should take some photos for Master Song Kai," Bai Xiaosheng thought to himself. That old gentleman loved studying architecture.

Lost in thought, Bai Xiaosheng noticed that the cars ahead were merging into a single line and beginning to pass through the checkpoint-style guardhouse in an orderly manner.

Similarly, Bai Xiaosheng and his companions’ car obediently fell in line amidst the stream of vehicles, showing no signs of special treatment.

Bai Xiaosheng even saw, in the distance, the car that had honked and overtaken them earlier—the one supposedly carrying Wei Xueyuan—also dutifully merging into the line of vehicles ahead.

Its previous audaciousness was now restrained.

"All the cars arriving here are guests of the Wei Family. The Wei Family treats everyone equally. Even if Miss Xuelian were in one of the cars, she wouldn’t use any special passage. Mr. Bai, I ask for your patience—luckily, it won’t take long," Mr. He explained with a smile.

"Alright," Bai Xiaosheng replied with a smile.

Since there were rules, then abiding by them was the proper course.

After briefly pondering, Bai Xiaosheng smiled and tentatively inquired of Mr. He, "Mr. He, the gentleman in the car earlier, Mr. Wei Xueyuan—what’s his relationship to Xuelian? When we meet, how should I address him appropriately?"

Bai Xiaosheng wanted to gather some information beforehand. On this important day, he wanted to avoid potential conflicts with that individual as much as possible.

"You mean Mr. Xueyuan, of course," Mr. He replied with a chuckle. "He’s one of Miss Xuelian’s cousins. He’s currently in Ganande, managing some local business operations."

"So Mr. Wei Xueyuan is greatly valued," Bai Xiaosheng remarked with a smile.

Managing the family’s local businesses meant he wasn’t an ordinary figure.

Mr. He chuckled again, glancing at the driver.

The driver, who wasn’t considered an outsider, wouldn’t divulge anything said here to others.

Moreover, given Mr. He’s position, even if he spoke out of turn about the Wei Family members of the "Xue" generation—or even criticized the family elders of the "Chang" generation—there wouldn’t be any trouble, even if the Family Head heard of it.

After all, he was a servant of the Wei Family Patriarch, having witnessed the upbringing of Wei Xuelian’s father’s generation!

Mr. He took a liking to Bai Xiaosheng, and decided to share a bit more.

"Actually, staying within the family’s mainland doesn’t necessarily mean one is highly esteemed. The Wei Family has extensive overseas operations, which are large-scale and require management by steady, capable, and composed individuals. In certain aspects, Mr. Xueyuan might still lack a bit of maturity," Mr. He commented with a chuckle.

The assessment wasn’t exactly flattering.

Bai Xiaosheng paused, surprised at Mr. He’s straightforwardness. But observing Mr. He’s unreserved demeanor when remarking on the Wei Family’s children, Bai Xiaosheng thought to himself, "It seems Mr. He’s position and status are indeed as remarkable as I imagined!"

If that’s the case...

Was he really sent here by Xuelian to greet me?

Or could it be that the Wei Family Patriarch had a role in this...

Perhaps to quietly evaluate me in advance!

Bai Xiaosheng’s thoughts raced, speculating.

"Fortunately, our Mr. Xueyuan has been progressing fairly rapidly," Mr. He continued, seemingly eager to share more with Bai Xiaosheng. "It’s just that his ambitions run high, and his sharpness is too evident! He has consistently expressed dissent about Miss Xuelian being valued by the family and groomed as a potential heir!"

Mr. He had even disclosed this level of detail. Bai Xiaosheng found it difficult to respond.

With that said, Mr. He concluded his remarks with a knowing smile and refrained from elaborating further.

Bai Xiaosheng stared ahead, unable to spot Wei Xueyuan’s car, but his thoughts churned—

Was Wei Xueyuan’s issue solely with how Xuelian was treated?

From the previous honking and overtaking, this was plainly a provocation—a challenge, a defiance!

Of course, Bai Xiaosheng could only speculate, and he had no intention of meddling in the matter.

After all, this was the Wei Family’s internal affair. Besides, today he was here as a visitor, seeking the Wei Family’s approval to date Wei Xuelian!

The challenges he faced were already formidable enough; he had no spare energy to address anything else.

"This time, I must stay humble—remain as low-key as possible, and avoid unnecessary complications," Bai Xiaosheng resolved internally.

He even considered that if Wei Xuelian’s cousins or brothers treated him with disrespect, he would tolerate it as much as he could.

After all, long-term interests were more important!

If he truly loved Xuelian, he would need to make sacrifices and bear any hardships.

Meanwhile, inside Wei Xueyuan’s car—

Wei Xueyuan and William sat side by side in the rear seats.

Throughout the drive, the two occasionally glanced backward, unable to spot the car they were searching for.

It seemed that the car had already disappeared into the line of vehicles behind them.

"It’s definitely my little cousin’s car—no doubt about it. Strange though, why would she go out on a day like this?" Wei Xueyuan muttered.

"What you instructed the driver to do earlier—wasn’t it a bit inappropriate? Honking and overtaking, that wasn’t very polite," William remarked with a smile.

Truthfully, William had long been aware of his friend’s dissatisfaction with his little cousin’s privileged treatment!

There was even one occasion when Wei Xueyuan had gotten drunk and openly declared, "My grandfather is truly senile! How could he! How could he place the emphasis on grooming a woman as the family’s heir! Is the Wei Family devoid of men? A woman, once married, is an outsider! I, Wei Xueyuan, will never accept it!"

William understood Wei Xueyuan’s true sentiments and even encouraged him to fight for his position!
