Chapter 34: Retribution!

Chapter 34: Retribution!

There was a specific type of person that Ken hated the most...

Those who thought they could commit crimes that could ruin the lives of many innocents and thought they could get away with it.

People like the warden.

For whatever reason this man had opened the gate for the prisoners to escape; Ken wasn’t going to allow him to do so.

He wasn’t going to go scot-free. There had to be consequences.

And since this was merely an instance and nothing especially realistic, he was going to go a notch beyond himself and make sure the man doesn’t see the light for another hour longer.

*Thump* *Thump* *Thump*

Ken was reminded of how the warden had only walked out of the control room an hour later after the prison cells were opened.

He wondered what the reason could be for his delay but couldn’t think of anything.

That was until he saw him.

The control room wasn’t anything special; it was an empty room with nothing but a few levers in the center with a glowing circular formation on the ground.

It was very small, and on the right corner, on the far end of the room, was a wide open door.

It welcomed him as if whoever was inside was not worried about anything, as if no one should even dare to think of entering

And once he got there, he understood what was happening.

In the large, luxuriously decorated room, as if someone dreamed of putting a prince’s bedroom in a cave, was a bed in the center.

A large bed where the warden was sleeping soundly, two women cuddling him as if fearing he would escape and leave them here.

To the left of the door Ken had just entered through was a table with all kinds of delicacies and some wine.

The entire setup was weird, but it made sense for the warden’s room to be close to the control room.

Seeing this, Ken almost couldn’t help but laugh.

And so, he planned to make this man’s life miserable.

-------

’Titan should be able to come out soon; I’m going to go meet him, lest the guards try to stop him and end up burst to mush.’ A thought runs through the warden’s mind.

’Hmm?’ Waking up, the warden felt weird to not see the luxurious curtains of his bed like always.

His hands felt tied, and the familiar feel of the servants’ was nowhere to be seen.

He tried to turn his head to check where he was, but it was utter and complete darkness.

And that’s when his eyes started getting used to it.

And he realized where he was.

"No! No! NOOOOO!" He thrashed around trying to get rid of whatever was constraining him, but he just couldn’t.

His arms started bleeding, his neck was almost cut apart, but he couldn’t get out no matter how hard he tried.

He knew where he was; rather, he hoped he was wrong and didn’t know where he was. It just didn’t make sense.

One second he was in his room, and now you’re telling him he was here? In this forsaken place made so nobody would be able to leave?

"LET ME OUT! WHOEVER DID THIS! GET ME OUT OF HERE!" He screamed at the top of his lungs, but he just couldn’t get out, and he wasn’t able to see anyone.

And it was then that he heard some sounds.

Noise that made his body shiver from head to toe.

"Oh please, no... No... NO! Anything but this!" He screamed and screamed to no avail as he felt whatever was holding him started getting heavy with the weight of the snakes and scorpions coming towards him.

He knew that he was going to die.

Not even he could escape the fate of being bitten by countless poisons.

"WHO DID THIS?! WHO DID THIS?! LET ME OUT!!! I’LL DO ANYTHING!!"

"ARGHHHHH! NOOOOO! PLEASE HELP MEEEEEE!"

"NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoOooOoooOooooo!"

-----

Unfortunately for him there was no one to help him, and there would be no one.

Ken made sure of that when he put him in the center of a pit filled with all kinds of poisonous animals, most of which were deadly.

His voice could probably only be heard by the corpses of the prisoners who were unlucky enough to try and escape using this path.

And now, the fate of the perpetrator was the same as the escapees.

Meeting the same fate as those he had allowed to escape?

Was there anything more fitting than this?

Ken had thought of different ways to kill him. A 1v1 battle, beheading him, but this was in the end the best outcome for this man.

He had used a method from the efficiency records to make sure the man wouldn’t wake up until he did what he was planning on doing.

The young girls who were forced to be his servants didn’t even feel his absence.

The countless uses of the efficiency technique still managed to surprise Ken to this day; no wonder it was the first technique taught to all cultivators, after the spirit cultivation method and their first technique of choice.

Had this been an actual true mission, things wouldn’t have been as simple, as he would have had to find shelter for the young girls, make sure the guards didn’t notice his leave, and many other things.

He would have been forced to take the clothes and mask off the warden by then and make him wear his clothes, but there was no need for such things.

"All’s well that ends well." These words left Ken’s mouth as the view of the setting sun welcomed him.

He had ended the trial in all forms of perfection, and he was the type to acknowledge his own achievements when it was needed.

Thus, today he would treat himself to something good.

And tomorrow, it would be his turn to join the ranks of the floor ascenders.

"Congratulations on ending with the best result amongst..." The spirit wanted to welcome Ken but upon a slight recalculation had to stop.

"Well, paint me awed; this is the highest score ever achieved since the formation of the first tower."

"Your final rating is..."
