Chapter 17: Spirit Forging!
Suddenly, the red dots of chaotic, violent spiritual energy stopped gathering and remained stationary.
And Ken, with a drop of sweat running down his cheeks, took a deep breath and absorbed the first batch.
countless tiny portions that flowed like streams and entered his pores.
One second, Ken, with his skinny body like that of a scholar who had never gone through any physical hardship, was glowing and standing upright in the room.
The next second, he was drenched in sweat with his body uncontrollably spasming.
As much as he wanted to keep control over himself, it was in no way a simple thing.
He had forcefully absorbed a very harmful, chaotic substance that wanted nothing more than to shred him into pieces from the inside out.
The peaceful, calm spiritual energy that awakened his core and enriched his mind and self was no more.
What he was absorbing now was its polar opposite.
Still, Ken remained composed; he would be doing this for hours, yes. He would continuously use this technique until he either found a better alternative or squeezed its efficiency dry, yes. But that didn’t mean, for one second, that he would lose composure and give up to pain...
Nor make things easier for himself.
Consequences, a truth so harsh that if it was on your side, you’re a victor, and if it was against you...
Knowing the consequences of one’s actions wasn’t an easy thing, but it was a requirement, and Ken knew very well what the consequences of him slacking off now would be.
He was only here for two days, yes, but he knew more than anyone how unforgiving this world was.
The higher-ups of the world were using every brain cell to figure out a solution to a problem that was far beyond him currently, but sooner or later, it would reach him, and if he was unprepared, he would suffer.
This was one part of the consequences, because if he was prepared, he could flip the entire situation on its head and benefit the most.
This wasn’t only something knowledge allowed; it was a fact.
This morning’s provided info... It was far more crucial than he thought he would come across anytime soon.
When he was told that the Spirit Mountain Sect was the foremost representative of the human race, he was relieved, but he also came to know that it was in turmoil, and not against enemies; it was against unforeseen events that, even with all of their mysticisms, they couldn’t grasp.
This made him wonder, think, and eventually come to the fact that he wasn’t making enough progress.
The sect was far too limited as a space, but it was also too beneficial to give up.
He wanted to get out and explore the world, as that would provide more of a source of knowledge than being holed up here, but at the same time, the sect was the source of mysticism.
This was what led to Ken’s resolve this time, but he was a man of sheer willpower and discipline, pain wasn’t something that held him back.
But things... didn’t always go as planned.
"ARGH!" For a second, Ken’s composure was lost; he almost lost control of the energy around him as well as that inside him.
Without missing a beat, the energy that was just starting to ravage his body was expelled, and Ken dropped to one knee, breathing heavily.
That... was dangerous.
He didn’t take into account a reaction that would happen when calm spiritual energy met chaotic one...
The violent spiritual energy is contaminating, and once it met with the one revolving within his body, it was as if an explosion happened.
What was supposed to protect him turned against him in a flash, and if it wasn’t for his lightning-quick reflex and him being cautious because it was his first try...
Not to mention, if he wasn’t a first realm, more energy would be concentrated in his body.
At worst he would only be muscle and bone; at worst, not even ash of him would be left.
After a few minutes of rest and planning, Ken got up, headed towards where he left his clothes, tore off a piece of the shirt he was wearing underneath, and returned to the middle.
Then he stood straight once again, and the energy that was stationary in the air attacked him again.
Till now, he hadn’t lost control over it, and if he were to check his idle training, he would notice that most of his techniques had a minute increase in their training speed.
It’s as if a ’second of training takes 0.7 instead’ kind of phenomenon was going on.
This time he was ready; his level of control over spiritual energy allowed him to make a clear distinction between the pure one and the chaotic one.
Had he not been taken by surprise, such a thing wouldn’t have happened to him; fortunately, it didn’t go bad.
Once again, Ken’s body was drenched in sweat, and this time he went on for 30 minutes before stopping for a 5-minute rest.
The goal of this training was for the chaotic energy to traverse his energy body to achieve two goals.
One, every inch of his body gets shredded and damaged by the violent force flowing through it; given enough time, once the body recovered, it would naturally get strengthened... perfectly.
Unlike normal bodybuilding, every part of his body was trained.
And second, the most important achievement was the true revolutionary aspect of the technique...
It allowed for something that the pure and calm spiritual energy never could do, and that is... the energy got absorbed by the body, effectively strengthening it.
This was beyond revolutionary; this was superhuman. This wasn’t the way spiritual energy was used at all.
