Chapter 44: I Am The Sixth Wife (2)

Arthur smiled softly, then patted her on the head. "You can show off another time. Right now, I need to put this guy in his place." His eyes turned cold. "If not, people might think I’m a joke of a husband."

Ellie’s cheeks flushed. "Okay, I’ll let you protect me this once."

Arthur stepped forward as five orbs of golden light, mixed with blue sparks, formed around him.

’It’s not that I don’t trust Ellie, but Noah is no pushover.’

If he could kill Ellie so easily in the game, then he at least had the strength of a Graduator.

That meant Ellie’s victory wasn’t guaranteed, and even if she won, the injuries wouldn’t be light.

’I can’t let my wives get hurt while I’m still breathing,’ Arthur thought, sparks of light flickering in his hand.

He had to end this fast. This was still a school, and he doubted the teachers would just stand by and do nothing.

Which meant he had to use it:

The sword that lacked stability:

Star Cleaver, Nyxberus Val Archaian.

As the sparks in his arm faded, a broad-bladed rapier appeared in his hand.

The entire weapon, from the intricate hilt to the blade’s tip, was pitch black, but faint traces of light shimmered in the silver runes etched into it.

Arthur channeled blue "colour" into the sword.

His golden eyes faded, replaced by a bright, glowing blue. The once-black blade with silver markings now glowed the same.

He tightened his grip around the black hilt, activating a portion of his demonic dragon bloodline—just enough for a single horn and a few scales to appear.

Noah rose to his feet and pulled out the gun.

The weapon was something any player of Magic Academy’s Genius Scholars would recognize, an artifact from the ancient civilization.

And since current magic was far inferior to that era’s, their artifacts were usually priceless.

"Are you scared now?" Noah asked with a smug grin. "You don’t know what I went through looking for Ellie."

He pointed at her. "She told me she didn’t like her dad, that he never gave her chocolates. So I made sure she’d never see him again. So why did she run away, scared of me?"

He covered his face with his free hand. "But when I saw her at the academy, so beautiful, I thought, She came back for me, right? That’s why I chased after her, thinking it was a lovers’ reunion."

His voice darkened. "But it was you, you blonde freak, that ruined everything."

He raised the gun and fired four consecutive shots.

But this time, it was different. Arthur could see them. The earlier surprise from the bullets was gone.

He raised the sword.

It was a spell Thyra had created but never completed. Until now.

Because the final ingredient it needed was something only he possessed.

Originality.

『 Tier 8 Spell: Absolute Zero 』

It wasn’t a top-tier spell, or some flashy, grand attack.

But a spell that prioritized efficiency over destruction.

The air around Arthur grew unnaturally still, though no ice mana was present.

The orbs crackled with intensity as the world seemed to slow.

Not for him, but for everyone else on the rooftop. The surrounding mages felt it instantly.

The control, the shape, the precision.

An original spell, crafted by Thyra, and completed by Arthur.

A spell that slowed everything within a set radius.

Noah tried to blink, but his eyes stayed half-shut for four long seconds.

In that split moment, Arthur disappeared.

Noah tried to spot him before his eyes fully closed but saw nothing.

The gun artifact wasn’t the only thing he had received from that strange man in the desert.

He also had a concealment artifact and a talisman that kept him alive, so long as he could see his attacker.

But Arthur was nowhere to be found. Not even his extended detection zone picked him up.

’Don’t tell me...’ Noah thought as his eyes finally shut. ’He copied it.’

Arthur hadn’t just copied it.

Right before activating Absolute Zero, he finally remembered where he had seen that gun.

The masked mid-boss from the field trip incident.

He was sure it was him. That villain had a concealment artifact, and another that blocked the first life-threatening attacks each day.

But there was a way.

If Arthur copied the concealment artifact, which he had, he could kill him without triggering the other one.

Noah grinned internally. ’Even if he bypasses it, I still have another layer of protection.’

But Arthur was already one step ahead.

Arthur smirked. ’He still has another layer of protection.’

Arthur dropped into a lower stance and launched the orbs forward.

They crashed into Noah with a resounding boom.

His barrier shattered instantly.

Noah’s eyes were about to open.

Arthur didn’t wait. And he wasn’t just going to attack. He was going to impress one of his wives, too.

『 Bruce Sword Art Third Form: Parallel Slash 』

They say a sword without a target can never land a strike.

But the third form of Bruce Sword Art defied that logic.

A strike not meant to meet, but to cut beyond, severing not only the flesh but the spirit itself.

Wind surged outward as Arthur drew and resheathed his blade faster than the eye could track.

Nothing happened for a second.

By then, Noah had already opened his eyes.

He was ready to grin.

But then it happened.

The sky tore open as a single sword strike split him from groin to skull, carving upward into the air.

It was invisible, except for a faint blue trail, visible only to the one struck by it.

Ellie’s eyes widened. Not just hers—Cassie’s, Amelia’s, and several students who had gathered, drawn by the noise.

Before Noah could say a word, blood burst from his mouth. His nose started bleeding.

The Absolute Zero spell had already dissipated, so he collapsed to his knees with a dull thud.

He wiped his mouth and nose with his arm, staring at the blood on it.

"You... You can’t kill me. My father’s a noble. If you do, the human race will treat it as a declaration of war."

Arthur stood tall. "Do you think demonic dragons care?"

"Yes, so release me and— Huh? What do you mean by that?"

Arthur crouched in front of Noah. "First off, do you think humans would go to war just because of you? You’re not even SS-rank."

He tilted his head, a small smile forming. "And even if they were foolish enough to try, they’d be the ones to lose. My race is full of monsters. We don’t fear humans."

He stood and raised his sword above Noah’s head. "And I’m not stupid enough to let a stalker and my enemy walk away alive."

Arthur hesitated.

He had killed countless beasts, but this would be the first time he killed a human.

Even if he was a demonic dragon now, he had been human once.

But no matter how he looked at it, the man in front of him didn’t seem human.

"You can come haunt me if you want."

With that, he brought his sword down and nearly cleaved him in two.

Arthur looked up at the sky and sighed. "Mom’s going to nag me about this for weeks."
