Chapter 8: Martial Dao Evolutionary Path
Chapter 8: Martial Dao Evolutionary Path
"Dozens of cultivation techniques and martial skills have been comprehended from this ring," said Jin, rubbing it with one hand. "One of which is something that’ll allow me to fool the powerhouse inside."
He still wasn’t sure what the intentions of the ring powerhouse were, evil or otherwise, so throwing wool over its eyes was the best course of action.
"Nine-Winded Supreme Veil." Jin announced the name of the technique that he comprehended and evolved from the ring powerhouse’s |Hidden Spiritual Veil| technique. Naturally, this new version improved upon all the faults of the original and would be perfect for what Jin required it for.
|Nine-Winded Supreme Veil|
Activating the technique, Jin found that he could control the amount of spiritual energy that the ring powerhouse was transferred. This made it possible for him to cultivate without giving absolutely everything to the powerhouse; he only had to allocate a small fraction of what he absorbed.
"Consider the spiritual energy I’m willingly giving you as payment for the close connection that we have. If not for that connection, there’s no way I could’ve comprehended so much."
Against-Heaven’s Understanding was not omnipotent.
Unless someone was actively using a technique or exhibiting certain qualities, it was impossible to comprehend anything. Without direct access to a source of enlightenment, it would be the same as trying to comprehend what could be nothing from behind an impenetrable metal wall.
But because of the ’open channel’ that the ring powerhouse had with Jin and his spiritual energy absorption route, direct access was indirectly given to Jin. He didn’t need to personally witness or experience each of the powerhouse’s techniques and powers, for they were already presented to him like a public library.
"This powerhouse is definitely in the Martial Saint Realm, likely nearing the peak of the Huaxia World. But to me, he is my starter package."
Previously, neither Yang Kai nor Jin had any idea what the Martial Grandmaster or Martial Saint Realm represented, but now he did. And with that knowledge, he figured out that the Martial Saint Realm could roughly contend with a 1st Rank 8th Level Evolver.
In the Main World, that meant the Evolver was capable of demolishing skyscrapers, even whole city blocks.
"With 30 years remaining before I have to leave this world, I should be more than capable of advancing to the Martial Saint Realm," Jin guessed. "But if I want to convert the strength of this world over to the Main World, I’ll need to figure something else out."
With what he gained from the ring powerhouse, he knew there to be certain Martial Lineages in Huaxia. The founders of these lineages were said to know everything about the paths they charted in various areas of cultivation. If asked to recultivate with the knowledge they possessed prior to recultivation, almost all of them would answer that they could cultivate dozens or hundreds of times faster than the first go around.
Let alone founders of Martial Lineages, even regular high-level cultivators had a certain level of confidence in rapidly recultivating to their peak if anything were to ever go wrong. After all, they had already reached each of the stages once before; they had insight into cultivation mysteries that newbies didn’t have.
"Perhaps I can do something similar, and even take things a step further by transforming a Martial Lineage into an Evolutionary Path?"
In the Deep Sea Universe, Evolutionary Paths were tantamount to individual power. Every Evolver would progress down an Evolutionary Path—usually inherited or acquired—and go as far as they could go in order to become stronger.
The Gene Enhancement Evolutionary Path. The Fire Evolutionary Path. The Goldenglaze Evolutionary Path. The Fist Evolutionary Path. The Titan Evolutionary Path.
There were countless thousands of Evolutionary Paths, developed across the span of hundreds of millions of years by genius scientists and the like.
To pioneer an Evolutionary Path like one of those was what Jin, with his highly advanced brain, started to consider.
If he could create his own Evolutionary Path, then what need would he have to worry about recultivating the power he acquired from the various Myriad Realms?
"Without this ring and the powerhouse inside, I probably would have needed a few months or even years to begin compiling various cultivation knowledge into an Evolutionary Path."
"However... that powerhouse gave me all the cultivation fundamentals I require."
Even now, he was passively improving upon the dozens of high-rank techniques and thousands of low-rank techniques that were comprehended by Against-Heaven’s Understanding. And with each further improvement, the other techniques benefited, creating a nigh endless cycle of direct and assisted enlightenment.
Until, some minutes later, while still standing in that same Sect Courtyard, all of the powerhouse’s transformed techniques and skills reached an unprecedented level. The world-cap on cultivation knowledge was directly exceeded, putting Jin leagues above even the most advanced Huaxia scholars and sages.
Not even half an hour had passed since Jin’s crossing over, and yet his knowledge had already become unparalleled in the world.
Without having even cultivated past the 1st Layer of the Martial Apprentice Realm, if put into a cultivation debate with a Martial Saint, he’d win the debate ten times out of ten.
This was what it meant to have Against-Heaven’s Understanding.
Even Heaven itself feared the rise of an existence that could one day comprehend even the limitless skies above.
...
A few hours ago, Jin set down his broom and returned to his place of residence. As Yang Kai, the infamous wastrel, this ’residence’ naturally wasn’t anything special and was just a tiny hut located outside the Sect Grounds.
Specifically, within the perilous Great Yang Forest, where death was likely if one was careless.
Many a demon beast prowling the area were praying for someone just like that to cross their paths.
*Ooom...*
Suddenly opening his eyes, Jin announced, "The 5th Layer of the Martial Apprentice Realm."
In no more than five hours, he pioneered the initial framework of the ’Martial Dao Evolutionary Path’, devised some of the First Chapter of the Path, and then jumped four minor realms.
Of the activities, the actual cultivation took the least amount of time.
"Although the Martial Dao Evolutionary Path integrates all the evolved techniques and skills I comprehended from the ring powerhouse, it still isn’t perfect. The First Chapter, correlating to the 1st Rank in the Main World, still needs a lot of work."
The ring powerhouse’s techniques were very good by themselves, and after evolving, they became even better. However, that didn’t change the fact that they were derived from the path of a single person.
They were like a singular linear line. No matter how robust or sturdy it was, it was still but just one line.
What Jin required to make the Martial Dao Evolutionary Path truly come to life and begin its progressive journey was multiple lines. Many lines. Countless lines. Each intertwining and spreading out to form something truly eye-opening.
To accomplish that, he had to... explore.
To meet new people.
To see what paths they took.
To figure out where improvements could be made.
"Let’s start with the Competition that begins tomorrow."
The best way to stimulate enlightenment and growth was through battle or close-up personal inspections. A competition was perfect for that.
