Chapter 950: Chapter 9 Dead Bug Starship_3
Teng Yuangxiang was secretly relieved; had she not pulled that move and rushed ahead just moments earlier, she would have been the one dead.
Zhou Peng’s breath was ragged, his eyes nearly bulging out of their sockets. Illuminated by the light of the Magnetic Storm Ball, he saw the shape of the monsters. They were humanoid creatures, about sixty centimeters tall, their bodies slick and covered in mucus, as if they had no skin, allowing one to see directly into the muscle fibers. Their heads were large, with tongues over a foot long, and their limbs were strong and muscular, bearing sharp, hard claws that struck the metal wall, sending sparks flying, leaving half-inch deep traces.
Zhou Peng inhaled sharply. Such a grasp on a human, would undoubtedly result in intestines being ripped apart and stomachs being shredded.
Tang Zheng fired off a burst, forcing the Camel Bugs to retreat, then with one hand, he pulled the door shut. There was no other choice: in the dim light, he saw at least hundreds of Camel Bugs rushing over. Under these circumstances, he didn’t want to try and fight them head-on.
The female employee was dead, her face with wide-open eyes facing the passage, with only more than half of a bloodstained and incomplete body remaining. But it wouldn’t be long before the bugs completely consumed her as well.
Bang, bang, the Camel Bugs struck the metal door a few times before giving up. Then Tang Zheng and the others heard the chilling sound of crunching and chewing.
"Was, was she eaten?" The female university student stared blankly at Tang Zheng, her face filled with a barely settled fright.
"Keep moving!" Tang Zheng glanced at the metal door and began to run swiftly towards the next Beehive Life Support Cabin, with the three newbies hurrying to follow.
Fortunately, the bugs were averse to light, so everyone was temporarily safe. Moreover, this was a low-gravity environment; a slight effort would send one floating. This gave Tang Zheng several options. He checked each metal door, and after assessing them, he chose one that was intact and prepared to explore, only to be stopped by Teng Yuangxiang holding on to him.
"What are you doing?" Tang Zheng frowned slightly, time was pressing, and there was no time to waste.
"I, I really need to pee," Teng Yuangxiang hesitated, then leaned in close to Tang Zheng’s ear and whispered. As she left, she deliberately kissed his earlobe.
"Find a place to deal with it, or just hold it if you’re scared," Tang Zheng didn’t entertain her and went straight into the passage. How could he not understand Teng Yuangxiang’s little ploy?
"Shameless slut." Seeing the woman in the nightgown flirting with Tang Zheng, Zhou Peng cursed, filled with envy and resentment. He didn’t hold much hope for his own survival and was just considering how to go out with a bang.
Teng Yuangxiang gripped her rifle, her expression fluctuating. She wasn’t one for virtues; to survive, she was naturally willing to accompany Tang Zheng, but being rejected like this was something the usually self-righteous her couldn’t quite take.
The university girl didn’t have as many schemes and quickly followed behind Tang Zheng.
After a fifty-meter passage, they encountered another Beehive Life Support Capsule. As soon as Tang Zheng entered, they were attacked by Camel Bugs that sprang from little rooms, lunging at him.
"Everyone, back into the passage!" Seeing the university girl attempt to shoot but forgetting to pull the bolt, and thus failing to fire a single bullet, Tang Zheng urgently yelled.
Sizzle, the Magnetic Storm Balls were launched, shooting down two Camel Bugs. Tang Zheng saw more bugs swarming him and pulled out the Devil Flame Pistol, releasing a Storm Barrage.
A red bullet shot out, followed by an explosion that swept them away completely. With three successive shots, he killed a large swath of them.
"Amazing!" Teng Yuangxiang complimented, her voice trembling. Seeing Tang Zheng’s silhouette blocking the passage, she found him immensely formidable and full of masculine charm. By comparison, Mr. Qian, whose physique was out of shape, was inferior even to a pig. But the next second, the three newbies’ faces drastically changed.
Dozens of mature Camel Bugs, each three meters tall, emerged. They clung upside down to the ceiling, their large eyes rotating 360 degrees, looking disgustingly revolting.
Spurt, spurt, the Camel Bugs launched violent attacks, releasing copious amounts of acid. More agile and aggressive than the lesser bugs, they dodged Tang Zheng’s shots with each leap, which made them seem like bats navigating with sonar.
Tang Zheng flipped his left hand and drew Setsugen-maru, slicing an incoming Camel Bug into two with a single stroke. The corpse thudded against the side of the passage, jolting the three newbies.
Within five minutes, Tang Zheng had finished the combat, and the area was littered with corpses. Just as he was about to check the next passage, the handheld radar suddenly beeped insistently.
"Someone else?" Tang Zheng frowned at the red dot displayed on the radar, certain he’d been spotted as well, but whether they were friend or foe was yet to be determined. He hadn’t forgotten what Trojan had mentioned about this being a team battle.
Tang Zheng followed the direction of the red dot for a few steps but encountered a wall—there was no way through, even though it appeared accessible on the handheld radar.
"Do we need a map?" Tang Zheng didn’t make a rash move and started to think strategically. He guessed correctly; this area was the living area, with Beehive Cabins as numerous as hairs on a cow. Even the native humans would need at least a month with an electronic map to get the lay of the land, let alone them, the survivors.
No longer paying attention to that red dot and having muted the sound, Tang Zheng confirmed their direction and then tried to find something to use as a landmark. But after a full hour, he wasn’t able to find anything.
"Tang Zheng, can we take a break?" Teng Yuangxiang was both tired and thirsty, her throat was almost smoking, and she wanted to rest. But Tang Zheng didn’t even acknowledge her, continuing on his way. Left with no choice, she had to keep going as well.
"Inhuman." Teng Yuangxiang whined petulantly, but she had picked the wrong target.
"What’s wrong?" Zhou Peng thought this was his chance and quickly offered his services, "I have some chocolate, want some?"
"Get lost," Teng Yuangxiang glared at Zhou Peng before chasing after Tang Zheng, not giving him any face.
Zhou Peng felt like he was going to explode with anger and had an urge to beat this wretched woman to death.
