Chapter 926: Chapter 65 Fierce Attack

The flight attendant saw Li Du’s death, and especially the sight of a soldier’s half-brain falling at her feet made her freeze for a moment, unable to accept this reality. The insect-humans didn’t hesitate though, one of them lunged forward, raising its arm-knife, aiming straight for her head.

Boom, a high-explosive armor-piercing bullet entered from the insect-human’s lower jaw, blowing up its head, flesh scattering in all directions. It was Lu Fan who had opened fire. She shifted the muzzle of the gun, aiming at the next insect-human leaping toward a university student. Sadly, she was still a step too late. Even though she blew up its head, the sheer number of insect-humans was too great. The unlucky university student had just jumped out of the fort but was quickly overtaken by three of them.

Six arm-knives swung, tracing six silver lines. The university student’s body first burst open with lines of blood, then dismembered, shattered limbs falling from mid-air.

"Give me the ring!" A soldier whose leg had been chopped off, knowing he was sure to die, roared at Dantai.

The special agent tossed the silver ring over, and the soldier, grasping it tightly, activated it in the way he had been taught. A golden eagle the size of a rhino immediately burst forth, flying past two insect-humans. Its sharp claws captured, tightened, and violently mashed them to pulp, like a balloon filled with liquid exploding, splashing everywhere.

The soldier’s body visibly shriveled as he expended his life energy, but nobody was scared. Another injured soldier rushed over to take the ring from the hand of his fallen combat mate, channeling in his own life energy.

The Proud Eagle of Os shouted its battle cry, its piercing screech seemingly carrying the souls of the fallen soldiers, launching another attack. Because it was powered by two lives, the rare prop activated two new abilities.

The Proud Eagle of Os soared into the sky and, as it plummeted like a meteor, suddenly burst apart, transforming into thousands of fist-sized eaglets, blazing with flames, diving down. They struck the insect-humans, igniting them completely, causing them to explode and instantly cleared a large area.

Team Warhammer’s pressure greatly reduced, finally getting a chance to reorganize their formation and started focusing fire on the teleportation gate.

The flight attendant, luckily saved, watched the soldiers willingly sacrifice themselves, and was deeply moved, tasting bitterness at the corners of her mouth.

After completing the explosive attack, with a whoosh, the Proud Eagle of Os reformed five meters above the ground, shooting into the sky, then with a turn, dove back down, this time targeting the teleportation gate.

The impact of the eagle on the ground sent soil surging like tidal waves all around, almost burying the newbies alive. But thankfully, due to its full firepower, all the teleportation gates were destroyed.

Tang Zheng clutched an insect-human’s throat with his left hand, grabbed its arm-knife with his right, twisted it forcefully, and with a sharp pull, tore off half of its shoulder. Green bodily fluid splattered all over his face.

The insect-human screamed in agony, about to spit acid, but Tang Zheng crushed its throat bone with one squeeze. Despite such damage, the monster, with its strong life energy, didn’t die immediately.

Tang Zheng was about to throw it aside when the bug heart in his left hand absorbed the insect-human’s green blood and, after a deep drink, extended a suction tube, piercing the insect-human’s brain and sucking dry its brain pulp.

Feeling the life energy replenished by the bug heart, Tang Zheng noticed a reduction in the fatigue of his body. Pleased, yet somewhat disgusted, he thought to himself that the ’dietary habits’ of this creature were indeed of evil taste.

"Catch them alive, uncle has a use for it," Lu Fan shouted after witnessing this, throwing the Wisdom Sword, pinning several insect-humans alive to the ground.

The Conquerors each used their own methods to capture insect-humans for Tang Zheng. Although it was the endgame, and the remaining hundred or so insect-humans couldn’t cause much trouble, the newbies and the injured were still protected by Dantai.

The special agent unleashed her mental impact, depleting another twenty percent of the insect-humans’ combat power.

A slime-like liquid separated from the back of Tang Zheng’s left hand, splashing out and leaping at each insect-human. After draining them, it reconstituted and digested, merging into the bug heart’s main body.

The newbies took notice that Tang Zheng’s left hand was semi-transparent, revealing a small heart throbbing within, converting nutrients into energy.

"How is it?" Yu Manli was intensely watching Tang Zheng, hoping for good news.

"Feels great!" Tang Zheng exhaled deeply, feeling some life energy restored. "I can use Daylily once."

Among the five abilities of the Furious Queen at this stage, Steel Sky consumed the most energy, while Daylily the least. However, it was very useful.

"That’s good. Next time I’ll catch a few more for you," Qin Yan began to consider how to capture insect-humans alive.

"Bring the dead soldiers’ corpses back. Lu Fan, quickly reinforce the fort, make it twice as thick this time," Dantai glanced at the time, not feeling optimistic.

The Blue Trojan seemed to be deliberately tormenting the survivors; this time the rest period was unusually long, almost reaching forty minutes. But no one dared to sleep, nor could they fall asleep; their nerves were tightly wound, waiting for the punishment force to arrive.

"I guarantee, the moment we let our guard down, a Teleportation Gate will surely appear," Lu Fan sprawled on the ground, unconcerned about her image, completely exhausted to the point where even drawing breath felt tiring.

"Maybe," Yu Manli gave a perfunctory reply, while no one else felt like talking. Just now, they had been guzzling Sweet Spring Potion as if it was free, and if it weren’t for some captures, they couldn’t have endured this intensity of consumption.

If the fight continued, people could stiffen their resolve and keep going, but now, with the constant alternation between tension and relaxation, not only did they get no rest, but it became more painful. As soon as the body relaxed, all sorts of pain would emerge, making it all the more difficult to re-enter combat mode.

After more than fifty minutes of torment, the Teleportation Gate finally reappeared, and the sheer number of them overwhelmed the group—exactly a hundred gates appeared simultaneously, spreading within a thousand-yard radius within three seconds, and swarms of bugs surged towards the fort in a desperate attack.

The appearance of the Yak Beetle didn’t change, but they seemed as if they’d been injected with stimulants, with their meridians protruding, faces twisted fiercely, and mouths holding pale green mucus. The other types of bugs had similarly transformed; they had all become more ferocious, with their attack power and ferocity at least tripling.

"Xin Lan, Lu Fan, use your ultimate abilities. Ruan Feifei, pay special attention to the air!" Dantai hesitated but added, "Tang Zheng, we need your Steel Sky too."

Three Beetles launched rocket shells in a carpet bombing style, but the gaps they created were instantly filled by the swarming bugs.

Tang Zheng nodded, and the Steel Sky began to appear in the sky, the Kirov warships suddenly descending.

Ruan Feifei’s hands danced with massive electric arcs, which she shot out, and then they branched out, continually striking the bugs, moving between them. Those hit were directly electrified into charred remains, emitting black smoke and shrinking into balls.

This area covered by the Lightning Jungle was quite wide, and it instantly dealt with nearly two thousand bugs, not sparing even those in the air. But it was like a drop in the bucket. In just over ten seconds, the bugs had filled the area again.

After nearly ten hours of combat, the sand in Lu Fan’s Space Wristwatch was almost completely scattered across the battlefield. Now, when she activated her ability, the sand surged like a tide and covered the bugs in a roll, burying them alive as if they were ships caught in a tsunami.

Lu Fan’s strike eliminated at least five thousand bugs, but the exhaustion took a heavy toll on her; her face turned deathly pale, and her body wobbled as if about to collapse.

"Xin Lan, don’t attack, make an Ice Wall to shield the fort. Also, don’t use the Aozhou War Eagles," Tang Zheng stopped the soldiers, then swung his War Hammer.

The Red Armor-clad Kai Cavalry appeared on the western side of the battlefield and began their charge, colliding with the surging sea of bugs anew.

A volley from the Bronze Cannon turned over thousands of bugs. Then came the trampling of War Horse Iron Hooves, a wild charge. The two torrents met on this sunny morning.

The Kai Cavalry’s first charge made it fifty meters before being consumed by the bug sea. However, they cleared a path for the following Cavalry. They were like a sword piercing through, and as they vanished, over twenty Teleportation Gates on the west side were completely trampled to destruction.

Walls as thick as ancient city fortifications rose from the ground, standing around the fort, tightly protecting it. From above, it looked like a blooming lotus. The other Conquerors also weren’t idle, eliminating the bugs surrounding the fort.

Buying time, it was Steel Sky’s turn to show its power. The heavy bombs dropped from the Kirov Airships like hail onto the battlefield, causing corpses and soil to fly in all directions, and cracks appeared in the Teleportation Gates amidst the shock waves, which were then targeted by missiles and struck repeatedly.

The Orbital Cannon finished energy gathering, and the blue-white plasma roared out, vaporizing everything in its path on the ground.

"Still not enough!" Dantai grumbled, even with the Steel Sky at full firepower, it only matched the speed at which the bugs were pouring out. To exterminate them, an extra push was needed, but on such a battlefield, except for the three area attackers, other people felt powerless, even if Qin Yan launched a Third-order attack, she would be worn down to death.

The situation on the battlefield was far from just this, as the stalemate in the combat led to new Teleportation Gates appearing every five seconds—a hidden punishment rule that tested the team’s firepower projection.

"Damn it, first stage, explode!" Tang Zheng went all in, draining a Sweet Spring Potion, and his body erupted with a blood-colored fog.

Steel Sky evolved in ability, bringing down another twenty Kirov warships, and the number of Orbital Cannons increased to two. Not stopping there, tanks began to be air-dropped as well, thirty in total, firmly landing with the pull of parachutes. While still mid-air, they began bombarding the ground.

The tanks weren’t much of a threat unless they formed an Armor torrent; they were instantly torn to scrap by the bug sea. The additional muzzles did contribute effectively, and for a moment, the only sounds in the whole earth and sky were booms from bombardments, with soil soaked in bug blood raining down like a downpour.
