Chapter 924: Chapter 64: Downsizing and Struggling_2

Jing Xiang raised the First Bow of East Sea Road and immediately shot at the flying bugs, creating a series of explosions. The blast wave, carrying fragments of corpses and mucus, rushed upwards, and the female clerks had been instructed by Tang Zheng to kill these monsters at the first opportunity.

The Conquerors also opened fire one after another, barely keeping them at bay and preventing them from hitting the fort. However, the numerous Beetles on the ground were a different story; there were thousands of them, swarming like a dense carpet. Their bodies rubbing against each other made a swishing sound, coupled with the sinister chewing noise of their mouthparts, creating an utterly horrifying scene. Even though the Beetle Chariots unleashed fire upon the ground, they couldn’t clear them out, as the Teleportation Gates were too many. Nearly a thousand bugs per second were entering the battlefield, and even though individually they weren’t much of a threat, their sheer number was overwhelming.

"Ruan Feifei, you go with the ultimate ability first, then Xin Lan follows, and after that Lu Fan," Dantai made an immediate decision, "Everyone else follow me and focus fire on the Teleportation Gates."

Ruan Feifei didn’t try to shirk the responsibility, her fingertips crackling with electricity as she was about to release her power, but she was stopped by Tang Zheng.

"Let me do it!" As Tang Zheng unleashed the fifth ability of the Furious Queen, a ripple-like disturbance appeared a kilometer in high altitude, as if the air was seawater, and a massive piece of steel emerged, resembling a Steel Barrier that covered the sky over a five-hundred-meter radius. The barrier was metallic in color, flowing with mechanical textures and full of tactility.

In the thunderous roar of machinery, the patterns opened and closed, and the Vault of Heaven split apart, as ten massive Kirov Hovercrafts plummeted down, then turned around, spreading out in a circle to begin carpet bombing the ground.

Whoosh, whoosh, the Bullet Nests opened, and one heavy bomb after another tore through the air, accompanied by the sound of slicing the wind as they plummeted to the ground.

Boom, boom, the continuous explosions melded into one, and the bugs’ shattered corpses were lifted up by the blast wave, like a tsunami, reaching heights of seven to eight meters, instantly submerging the fort.

Fortunately, since this was part of Tang Zheng’s ability, the bombs had reduced damage to him; otherwise, the fort would have been affected too.

In just twenty seconds, most of the bugs on the ground were swept away, leaving behind only a thousand or so around the fort. Tang Zheng had been cautious not to drop bombs in that area to avoid damaging the fort.

The bugs kept recklessly surging out, but as soon as they emerged from the Teleportation Gates, they were greeted by falling bombs and blasted to pieces.

Click, click, the missiles on the racks locked onto the Teleportation Gates, trailing white tails through the sky as they fired.

The ten fully assaulted Teleportation Gates cracked and wobbled, and after twenty seconds, they collapsed.

The battle was not over yet. Accompanied by mechanical sounds, the center of the Steel Sky assembled and bulged, forming a giant Orbital Cannon, fifty meters in length, like a spear piercing the sky, aiming at the position where the Teleportation Gates were most concentrated.

Immense energy began to converge, electric arcs fizzing scatteredly, then with a massive blast, it shot down, striking the ground.

The soil was overturned, and the thick blue-white plasma, like a military knife, sliced through the ground. All bugs and Teleportation Gates that were touched were vaporized, leaving nothing behind.

The survivors could barely open their eyes, but upon seeing the destruction wrought by the Steel Sky, they were all dumbfounded, since in an instant, the bugs’ offensive was suppressed—all achieved single-handedly by Tang Zheng!

"Precision bombardment!" Following Tang Zheng’s command, twenty small muzzles appeared at the edge of the Steel Sky, targeting the Teleportation Gates and beginning their bombardment.

The survivors took shelter in the fort, and as the initial wave of bugs was eliminated, they were finally able to quietly watch the battle. The colossal Kirov seemed to linger in mid-air, continuously dropping heavy bombs and launching missiles, while the twenty-one Orbital Cannons took turns bombarding and sweeping the ground, thoroughly ravaging the suburbs. With each light beam shot, everything was obliterated.

The Overlord Beetles were fragile under the sweeping heavy bombs and light beams, unable to last even three seconds before being torn into pieces.

After five minutes of bombardment, as the Steel Sky fluctuated and vanished from the sky and the dust on the ground settled, even the usually composed Conquerors like Dantai were scared by Tang Zheng’s display of power; it was their first time witnessing the might of his fifth ability.

Not one of the fifty-five Teleportation Gates survived, all blown up, and the ground had nearly two meters shaved off its thickness.

"So sharp, the striking power is terrifying to the extreme," Yu Manli praised repeatedly, then became extremely envious, as this was just one of Tang Zheng’s abilities, and it was already overwhelming for them.

The other Newbies also looked enviously at Tang Zheng, but then were startled because Tang Zheng, pale-faced, was leaning against the Wall, his chest stained bright red with the blood he had coughed up.

"Uncle?" Lu Fan was taken aback and hurriedly ran over, and the others did not dare to delay, their faces full of concern.

"Xueqi, come quick and heal," Li Xinlan called Gu Xueqi over, as in Tang Zheng’s condition, he couldn’t summon Daylily.

Seeing Tang Zheng too weak to speak, the originally optimistic Newbies immediately felt disheartened and very dispirited.

Gu Xueqi’s hands sprayed out a Young Phoenix, treating Tang Zheng’s gaping wounds.

"How many more times can you use that ability?" a university student couldn’t help but ask.
