Chapter 886: Chapter 41: Crushing the Aboriginal Soldiers (Thanks to Alliance Leader: Low-key Luxury t for the support!)
Tang Zheng hid behind a ruin, using a Night Vision Device to survey the entire battlefield. Both sides engaged in the firefight were Europeans, blond-haired and blue-eyed, tall and well-built. There were few weaklings among them; in the post-apocalyptic world, those who were frail and sick had all died off, and those of small stature were not suited for combat, unable to hunt enough food, so they either starved to death or became slaves.
"They’re actually still using cold weapons. Could it be that the destroyer we saw the day before yesterday was fake?" Chen Hong took the Night Vision Device, glanced over, and openly scoffed. She felt that if she entered the fray, she could achieve a hundred kills with ease.
In the post-apocalypse, firearms were basically in the hands of the government forces. These natives had managed to get their hands on weapons smuggled out through the Black Market, which they could only buy at high prices. If you could find an ammunition storage from fifty years ago that had been perfectly preserved, then you would have struck it rich: money, women, whatever you wanted you could have.
"These people are fierce, and their shooting is accurate," the Company Commander remarked, feeling disillusioned as even an ordinary person seemed to possess the physical fitness and combat skills of their soldiers.
"Hmph, don’t look at the more than five hundred people involved in the battle below, if Tang Zheng were to step in, with just an AK74M, he could resolve the fight in five minutes, no, three minutes," Chen Hong looked down on them, snatching the Night Vision Device from the Company Commander’s hand," I’ll look again to see if there’s a chance to capture a few native slaves."
"People in the post-apocalyptic world probably fight for food every day, so it’s natural their fighting skills are not weak," Tang Zheng was about to intervene in the battle because he saw that the attackers not only killed men, but when they captured women, they would rape them first, and even use a dagger to cut flesh from the women’s bodies, chewing it in their mouths. This was something he could not tolerate.
"Ugh, they’re eating human flesh!" Chen Hong bent over and threw up, terrified by the scene in front of her.
Ludi was going mad, watching his companions being killed one by one, his eyes red with urgency. Their stronghold had run out of food, and there was no choice but to hunt during the bugs’ breeding season, risking being eaten, but he did not expect to be ambushed by Leman. It was clearly premeditated, and there must have been a traitor; otherwise, the timing could not have been so exact.
They lost over fifty people and two months’ worth of ammunition to finally take down a small insect nest, securing quite a few bug corpses. They thought they could survive this difficult period, but they were attacked just as they had fallen asleep. If it weren’t for the night watchman who gave his life to sound the alarm before dying, they would have been entirely wiped out.
"Ludi, run, we’ve only got about a hundred people left, we can’t win," a short man holding a chopper crouched behind a piece of rubble, calling out helplessly to Ludi.
"If we lose this batch of food, everyone at the stronghold will starve to death," an adult man armed with an AK47 wrapped in a bandage fired at the opposite side and was met with rapid gunfire. He ducked to dodge, but an armor-piercing bullet pierced through the shelter, hitting him in the chest.
"Sako!" Ludi’s eyes were filled with rage as another strong soldier died. Even if they survived this time, the stronghold’s strength would be greatly diminished, inevitably leading to being annexed by others.
"Ludi, listen, gunshots, look, they’re in disarray on the other side," the short man crawled to Sako’s side, took his rifle with a joyful face. In the post-apocalypse, a gun was life - possessing a gun meant a comfortable existence. Then, he hung the ammunition on his body, took another look at the opposite side, and shouted in surprise.
Like a cheetah, Tang Zheng holding an AK74M darted through the shadows, maneuvering to the rear of Leman’s line.
Twenty meters away, a man tore off a blonde woman’s pants and pinned her to the ground. Nearby, another woman, looking unsurprised, was picking up the raped woman’s bundle to check the supplies inside. Battles were fought for spoils.
Not finding anything valuable except a piece of bug flesh, the woman became furious, suddenly pulled out a dagger, and stabbed it into the raped woman’s throat. With a forceful pull, she slit her throat.
"Not satisfied yet, huh? Go fight, or what will I eat tomorrow?" the woman yelled at her husband, bit into a piece of bug flesh, and holding a chopper, ran out.
The man, not even bothering to put his pants on, grabbed an M16 rifle and joined the battle. In the post-apocalyptic world, the sense of shame was minimal for these people.
"What kind of world is this?" Tang Zheng’s eyelids twitched.
The scene before him was too cruel. The woman whose throat was slit was not immediately dead. She stretched out her hand, trying to grab her bundle containing food for her son. Not only had it been taken from her, but she would never see her son’s smile again.
Dada, Tang Zheng raised his rifle, a single shot, and the man holding the M16 fell to the ground, hit in the vest, blood quickly soaking through his clothes.
The woman with the chopper heard the gunshot, looked back, and seeing his corpse, felt no sadness but shouted to everyone to be careful of their backs and that they couldn’t take her lover’s rifle.
Still, two fearless men ran out, aiming for the firearms.
Tang Zheng fired, muzzle flames dancing; both men were shot in the chest and tumbled down in succession.
"I’ll give you everything, be my husband," the woman with the chopper yelled, suddenly throwing herself at her husband’s corpse, determined to take back the gun - without it, her future life would be miserable.
Faced with the woman, Tang Zheng hesitated, but his eyes caught sight of the woman with her throat slit, and his finger squeezed the trigger.
Bang bang, a double shot, the woman’s skull was blown off, and her body fell back.
"Careful, it’s a sniper." A man bellowed. Tang Zheng’s infallible aim, with four corpses, had them stabilized.
The locals were on guard, and Tang Zheng immediately moved to the left front where the cries of a woman could be heard. It was coming from those who feasted on human flesh, and they were also the ones he wanted to kill immediately.
Although dawn had not yet broken, the sky was brightening due to air refraction. Someone spotted Tang Zheng and immediately opened fire, but all the bullets fell behind him.
Tang Zheng sprinted faster, dived into a narrow alleyway, and raised his gun for a single shot.
A man with a fierce look on his face was about to slice another piece of human flesh to enjoy. A bullet came flying, blowing off the top of his skull.
"Enemy attack!" Two unfortunate souls crouched next to the corpse of the woman’s husband, scrambling for supplies, saw their companion die. Just as they stood to fight, their heads blew apart with a gunshot. The other survived for only a fraction of a second longer before being killed.
The woman glanced at the direction where the bullets came from. Seeing Tang Zheng running over with a rifle and no hostile intent, she immediately dropped her guard, pushed the man off her, and, without bothering to stop the bleeding or get dressed, grabbed a rifle and began searching the corpses.
The woman’s clothes were dirty and torn, and she was rather plain-looking.
"For food, there really is nothing one wouldn’t give up," Tang Zheng sighed and took out three cans of beef, tossing them in front of her.
The woman was stunned, then her face filled with ecstasy. She had seen such food in the black market; it was a luxury good that only the high-level officials and government personnel in the big settlements could afford. If she sold them, she could get at least a hundred bullets in exchange.
Tang Zheng roamed the backend of the battlefield, firing continuously. In three minutes, he killed more than thirty people. Such formidable aggression caught Leman’s attention.
"Take him down for me!" Leman summoned his confidant and ordered him to take a hundred men to ambush Tang Zheng. Winning this fight would allow him to swallow up Ludi’s tribe, so he would not allow any accidents.
About a hundred men fanned out to surround him, two-thirds of them armed with firearms.
"Charging with a knife? I’m impressed," Tang Zheng joked lightly, but did not show any mercy. After depleting his ammunition, he withdrew a new ammo clip with one hand, replaced it in less than a second, and suppressed the enemies on the left with his gun to the point where they couldn’t raise their heads.
"RPG!" The natives, now desperate after losing another dozen men, were calling for heavier firepower. Grenades? Too expensive to afford.
A very dark-skinned man with an RPG-7 suddenly darted out of cover and pulled the trigger, aiming at Tang Zheng’s position. A rocket shell shot out with a white tail of smoke.
Boom—the entire wall collapsed.
"Pah, to waste a rocket shell like that. A total loss! Let’s see if there are any spoils of war." The man had barely finished complaining when he dodged to the side as if he’d seen a ghost.
"You want to trade shots?" A rocket shell flew out of the dust, exploding above the ruins and blasting several of the indigenous people who couldn’t avoid it into the sky.
"Charge, kill him!" The natives grew frantic. They got up from their shelters, ready to charge, but then another rocket shell flew out, and they quickly hit the deck again.
Tang Zheng had over a thousand AT-4 launchers, plenty enough to entertain these fellows.
"Boss, we can’t hold out. This guy is like a human turret, his firepower is too fierce!" The natives were overwhelmed. Twenty successive rocket shells completely destroyed their morale, and those who didn’t flee were blasted into pieces.
The company commander overlooking from higher ground couldn’t help but admire Tang Zheng’s brutality. Relying solely on explosive weapons, he had managed to completely disintegrate the force of over a hundred men. He was truly formidable, a Rambo-like figure. But the guy was also incredibly ruthless—in roughly seven minutes, over a hundred had died by his hand.
"Who the hell is this madman? The ammunitions he’s shot out so far could have my entire company working for him," raged Leman. He couldn’t believe that Ludi’s impoverished tribe could afford such supplies.
"Go kill him." As Leman was assaulting Ludi’s last line of defense, he suddenly directed his armored vehicle to turn towards Tang Zheng. He thought Tang Zheng had finished firing his rockets, but he didn’t expect another one to come shooting at him the next moment.
The driver couldn’t swerve in time. Leman opened the car door and jumped out, only to watch his beloved vehicle get blown into the air.
"We’re saved." Ludi’s spirits lifted. He called his companions to strengthen their defense and then began contemplating how to repay Tang Zheng. The man was too powerful; if they could keep him in their settlement, nobody would dare to stir up trouble on their turf again.
Leman was such a big target, Tang Zheng could hardly miss. He didn’t shoot; instead, he pounced straight at him, intending to capture him alive.
Leman’s M4A1 roared, but after emptying a clip, he didn’t even graze Tang Zheng’s clothes. Then Tang Zheng struck him in the face with a punch, sending him tumbling away, half his teeth knocked out.
