Chapter 784 - 47 Demonic Shadow Daimyo
Chapter 784: Chapter 47 Demonic Shadow Daimyo
"So many shadow demons, they must be BOSS level," Song Huiqiao pretended to be calm, standing next to Tang Zheng. She felt that only by his side was it safe.
Tang Zheng glanced at her, Song Huiqiao’s clean forehead was beaded with sweat, and her slightly ragged breathing revealed her nervous state of mind.
"Jing Xiang, look after Cheng Cheng and stay in the car," Tang Zheng ordered, unsure if he could protect them from the shadow demons. His only option was to get them out of the area.
"I, I can’t drive," Jing Xiang responded nervously. She was just a normal girl raised in an ordinary family, she never had the opportunity to learn to drive.
"I can," Song Huiqiao quickly volunteered. She saw an opportunity and knew she had to seize it.
"Take Cheng Cheng to the cars and wait a hundred meters away," Tang Zheng ordered, clutching his MP40 tightly. he stared intently at the T-junction fifty meters ahead.
"Tang Zheng, we should retreat for now. There are too many of them, it’s too risky," Song Huiqiao saw the resolute determination in Tang Zheng’s eyes. She knew whatever she said would be in vain, yet she still tried to dissuade him, just to show him that she cared.
"Get going," Tang Zheng didn’t want to waste words, "Jing Xiang, stop daydreaming and get ready for battle."
Seeing Song Huiqiao drive away, the other newbies started to panic. With so many shadow demons, Tang Zheng surely couldn’t protect all of them. Thoughts of running away began to take root in their minds.
"Group Leader, we don’t stand a chance," Liu Qian candidly stated, ignoring how embarrassing his words may sound. He was only focused on escaping, in his opinion, Tang Zheng was like a praying mantis trying to stop a cart.
All the newcomers were eagerly awaiting Tang Zheng’s response.
"If any of you leave, don’t bother coming back," Tang Zheng glanced at his radar screen and quickly positioned himself. He ran towards a nearby house and, utilizing his momentum, he managed to climb up on the rooftop in a few strides.
Jing Xiang followed after him but struggled to climb up without transformation, making her anxious.
"Find somewhere to hide and watch me fight," Tang Zheng wanted Jing Xiang to experience the slaughter of the battlefield and accumulate experience. As for the newcomers, a little threat was necessary.
The newcomers hesitated, not daring to run. They came up with a compromise though, to keep far away. If Tang Zheng loses, they’ll run. If he wins, of course, they’ll compliment him and get the benefit of some soul shards.
The sound of horse hooves resounded under the moonlight. A squad of eerie shadow demon cavalry was the first to charge onto the street. These monsters were all modeled after Japanese samurai from the Warring States Period. They were clad in black armor with samurai swords strapped to their waists, longbows on their backs, and held a three-meter-long Yari in their hands. The blade of the lance was brightly sharp and emitted a chilling aura under the pale moonlight.
The warhorses underneath them were completely black, with rudimentary protection gear. Only their eyes burned with the same red ghostly light as their riders. The wind blew, and the flags bearing family crests on the Samurai’s back fluttered, exuding a blood-soaked battlefield aroma.
Behind them followed a full three hundred infantrymen. Even though they were mixed footmen, they marched in a disciplined and organized manner, moving in synchrony and exuding a powerful aura. They were also well-equipped, fully armored with hakama and kabuto helmets. Under the moonlight, the crests on them were slightly dazzling.
In the middle of the night in Ikebukuro, after a heavy rain, the appearance of these ancient warriors seemed to have made survivors feel as though they had been taken back to the Japanese Warring States Period, witnessing a daimyo setting off on a campaign.
The newbies’ breathing became shallow, fearing they would alarm them. Their eyes were all on Tang Zheng. They thought, that even the powerful Group Leader, upon seeing such an army, should flee. After all, there were about five hundred of them.
The shadow demon Daimyo, escorted by a group of samurai, appeared on the main street, holding a Gunpei war fan in his hand, leisurely admiring the view along the road.
Tang Zheng stopped waiting, positioned the gun against his shoulder, took aim at the Daimyo decked in exquisite armor, and pulled the trigger.
At that moment, the deafening sound of gunshots rang out in the dark night. The orange-red muzzle flame flared up violently. Without concern about revealing his position, Tang Zheng was determined to take down the Daimyo.
Less than three seconds later, the clip was empty. A few bullets did manage to hit the Daimyo, but seemed to have no effect, merely causing sparks to fly from the impact on the armor.
The shadow demon army faltered for a moment, but at the Daimyo’s signal, the cavalry spurred their horses and commenced their charge with banners fluttering.
Although the firearm’s damage was small, Tang Zheng didn’t give up. Quickly replacing the clip, he fired into the oncoming cavaliers.
"What is he trying to do? Counter-attack? Is he crazy?"
"He’s definitely crazy. Just because someone called him a leader, he thinks he’s invincible. He’s so self-deluded, in front of him are hundreds of shadow demons."
"I’m looking forward to watching him run away in a pitiful state. I’d like to see what sort of face he makes to tell us off."
A few of the newcomers close to Liu Qian mocked and belittled Tang Zheng extensively. They stopped just short of declaring that his death was certain. However, in the next moment, panic washed over their faces as they began to retreat.
As the cavalry started to charge, the rumbling hoofbeats sent tremors through the ground, turning the faces of the newcomers pale. Especially as they heard the variety of eerie screams, it was as if this was a horde of evil spirits from the depths of hell, coming to reap lives.
Liu Liu, with a disgusted look on his face, quietly ran towards Song Huiqiao’s car.
Tang Zheng hopped around on the roof, intending to lead the cavalry astray and launch a surprise attack on the Daimyo.
The Shadow Demon Cavalry’s riding technique was exquisite. With a squeeze of their legs against the horse’s belly, the war horse started to slow down. They then grabbed the longbow, pulled out an arrow from the quiver, and took aim to fire.
Crash, crash, accompanied by the trembling sound of the bowstring, the sharp arrows whizzed out, covering Tang Zheng.
Tang Zheng jumped, narrowly missed by the arrow cluster. They stuck into the roof, leaving a row behind him. The recoil of the MP40 in his hands seemed nonexistent, as stable as a rock. It took three full clips before he managed to kill the first cavalryman, who crashed to the ground.
"The efficiency is too low, but these cavalrymen are two-thirds weaker than the Shadow Demon Warriors." Tang Zheng kept leaping on the roof, and after a hard three minutes, he finally managed to disperse the cavalrymen.
Looking at the dozen or so Shadow Demon Cavalry below, Tang Zheng decisively threw away his submachine gun. With the golden sound of a blade unsheathed, he drew his Samurai Sword. Then with a leap, he lunged downwards.
The attacked cavalryman dropped his longbow, grabbed his Yari, and aimed it at Tang Zheng’s head.
Tang Zheng swung his arm, deflecting the long spear. Then, with the inertia of his downward fall, the Samurai Sword pierced through the helmet, impaling itself into its head. Immediately after, he yanked it off its war horse.
The whooshing sound of wind rang out. The skilled cavalrymen circled around Tang Zheng, a dozen Yari spears jabbing at him from all directions.
"Warrior!" Tang Zheng roared, his whole body emanating a nebulous bloody aura. An ancient warrior dressed in heavy armor appeared, looking coldly around. With a sweep of the long handled War Hammer, the spears were knocked off course. He then threw his War Hammer, the rattling of the iron chain followed by a direct hit on a cavalryman, knocking him and his horse flying.
Klang, the warrior pulled the iron chain back, then swung his arm, propelling the halted War Hammer towards the left side.
The ancient warrior blocked most of the attacks, but he couldn’t protect Tang Zheng from the rear. Tang Zheng had to fend for himself, swinging his Samurai Sword. Although it blocked the cavalryman’s long spear, the modernly crafted blade, meant more for decoration, couldn’t withstand such an onslaught, breaking off with a clatter.
"I’d settle for a Bronze Sword, anything but this," Tang Zheng thought as he threw the broken hilt of the blade. He then grabbed the Yari of an impaled cavalryman and replaced it as his weapon.
The cavalryman charged, Tang Zheng dodged, then struck out with the long spear, the sharp blade immediately piercing into the chest of the cavalryman in front of him.
"Kill!" Tang Zheng shouted, exerting force with one hand, and directly flipped the impaled cavalryman, throwing it against another cavalryman attacking from the side.
"Warrior, don’t linger, go kill the Daimyo." Tang Zheng didn’t pay any mind to these minions. Brandishing the spear to fend them off, he grabbed the saddle of a masterless war horse nearby, swung himself up onto it, then fiercely clamped down with his legs against the horse’s belly and shot forward.
Following Tang Zheng’s lead, the ancient warrior repelled the cavalrymen surrounding him and started running. Donned in armor weighing more than a hundred pounds, he was like a moving tank, the ground trembling beneath his military boots.
Tang Zheng glanced back and saw the warrior without a horse, which was a pity for such a noble warrior. Just as he was about to call out to him, a cloud of vortex-like mist emerged and out flew a war horse as black as ink, its hooves a sharp contrasting snow white, a sight for sore eyes.
This war horse had strong muscles, a robust skeleton, and was exceptionally spirited. Upon its appearance, it let out a long neigh. Its body was also clad in heavy armor, and from the deer skin weapon bag around its neck protruded a long spear.
The ancient warrior placed his War Hammer behind him, rushed up to the horse, then hopped onto it with a hand on the saddle. He then pulled out the long spear mounted on the horse.
With its master on its back, the horse surged forward in high spirits, quickly catching up with Tang Zheng.
Tang Zheng no longer had time to observe the warrior. More than thirty Shadow Demon Cavalry charged towards him. With a vigorous shake of his Yari, he fearlessly countercharged.
The warrior would never let his master be in danger. With a flick of the reins, the horse increased speed and, in the blink of an eye, shot out like a sharp arrow.
Over a dozen spears were thrust at him, but the ancient warrior swatted them aside with his spear, then stabbed it into a Shadow Demon Cavalry’s chest. With a flick of his spear, he swung the body away, knocking over several other cavalrymen.
Without any hesitation, the ancient warrior, like a sharpened military knife, plowed through. The Shadow Demon Cavalries were scattered all over, most falling off their war horses.
Though the cavalry’s onslaught was but an instant, some slipped through, brushing past the ancient warrior and charging straight towards Tang Zheng.
Tang Zheng remained unafraid, utilizing the momentum of the charging war horse to thrust his Yari into a cavalryman’s body. Then, imitating the warrior’s posture, he flicked it off.
In less than ten seconds, the two knights whizzed past, leaving behind more than twenty corpses and masterless war horses in their wake.
The newcomers thought Tang Zheng had run, ready to follow suit, but then they saw Tang Zheng and the warrior turning a street corner and launching a wild charge directly towards the Daimyo.
The Daimyo, holding his Gunpei, pointed forward, and the remaining cavalry began to charge. The foot soldiers also raised their bamboo spears and ran forward.
Without any hesitation, Tang Zheng led a charge towards them.
Just before engaging the enemy, Tang Zheng entered the First Stage Burst Seed State. Upon the opening of the Third Order, he could now control the Burst Seed state at will.
"Daylily, grant the buff!" Tang Zheng had thrown caution to the wind. Today, no matter what, he was going to decapitate the Shadow Demon Daimyo. (To be continued. If you like this work, welcome to qidian.com to cast your thank-you votes and monthly tickets. Your support is my biggest motivation.)
