Chapter 755: Chapter 18 Robbery
Ikebukuro is one of the busiest commercial districts in Tokyo, with countless department stores, fashion shops, cinemas, and gaming centres, attracting young men and women in pursuit of fashion to come and have fun. Every day, it sees a massive flow of people in the millions, making it a naturally prosperous hub for adult entertainment.
Gazing at the fancifully lit adult entertainment street in front of him, imbued with an ambiguous seductive aura, Li Bo’s eyes almost popped out in amazement, and he unintentionally gulped. Gao Qiang, standing next to him, behaved no differently, staring at the signboards bearing provocative images of women, his breath becoming noticeably heavy.
A middle-aged man walked by, his arm around a seventeen or eighteen-year-old girl, brazenly feeling her up. She half-heartedly resisted, but the atmosphere remained congenial.
"This is the legendary...too bad the girl isn’t that attractive." Gao Qiang, looking at the girl’s wide forehead and small eyes, felt a bit regretful.
Ruan Feifei glared at him intensely. She suddenly regretted coming out.
"The prettier ones cost more, both girls and the bosses of adult stores are not stupid." Dantai looked up and down at the three newcomers, noticing the metal boxes in their hands. "Go, put on the protective clothing."
"Here?" Gao Qiang was a little uneasy, and Tao Hong’s cheeks blushed instantly, making it clear she was not comfortable in such a place and was yearning to flee right away.
"I wish they’d steal a glance." Li Bo, already burning with anticipation, took off his woolen sweater and quickly unfastened his belt.
"Are you guys idiots? Go over there." Ruan Feifei scolded them impatiently, pointing to a dimly lit alleyway nearby.
"Do we have to change?" Tao Hong felt insanely embarrassed.
"The protective clothing can double your physical ability and defend against general strikes." Tang Zheng felt his pockets, realizing he didn’t have a single Yen. Moreover, the memory eraser couldn’t be used. It was indeed a terrible situation.
Gao Qiang glanced at Li Bo and followed suit, changing his clothes in the middle of the street, while Tao Hong, biting her lips, ran into the alley only to let out a scream before hurriedly running out again.
"What happened?" Tang Zheng startled, dashed into the alley and saw a man and a woman making love.
"Free Yen landing right in front of me." Tang Zheng glanced at the Japanese man, dressed in a branded suit, estimating him to be of at least the ministerial rank. This was the perfect opportunity for extortion, so he walked over.
The woman, in her twenties with an average attractiveness score in the high forties, was fashionably dressed which earned her some points. She was wearing a sleeveless backless dress. When she noticed Tang Zheng walking toward them, she became more anxious, while the ministerial man sneaked a glance at Tang Zheng but didn’t seem bothered by the interruption.
It appeared as if the two of them got extra turned on when watched.
"Get lost," the ministerial man stopped kissing the woman and yelled at Tang Zheng, thinking that Tang Zheng was a foreign student, whom he didn’t fear at all.
Tang Zheng didn’t react, but reached out to grab the man’s hair, pulling him off the woman, leaving him free in the air.
The ministerial man, in immense pain, cursed out loud, demanding Tang Zheng to let him go and flailing his hands, aiming to smack Tang Zheng’s head. But the man was too short, and even with Tang Zheng’s arm fully extended, he couldn’t reach him. He ended up pounding Tang Zheng’s arm. However, the protective clothing held off the attacks, and despite the man exerting all his strength till his face turned red, he could not shake Tang Zheng at all.
Tang Zheng lifted the unfortunate Japanese man and hurled him at a wall. The man passed out after banging heavily, and fell limply. Since he was still held by Tang Zheng by his hair, he wobbled in midair like a dangling carrot.
Tang Zheng reached into the man’s pocket, pulled out a wallet, and then tossed him casually in a corner like a piece of garbage.
The woman stood nearby, visibly confused and terrified, looking at Tang Zheng’s violent acts. She debated whether to run or to stay, unwilling to lose the payment and forgo the work she had done.
"Get dressed." Tang Zheng frowned when he saw the woman’s disarrayed clothes, quickly figuring out the reason she hadn’t left. He opened the wallet and handed her ten thousand Yen notes.
The woman, in the process of rearranging her clothes, was startled at the sight of the money but soon hastily accepted it while expressing her gratitude. The amount was huge, something she would earn only after half a month of work.
"Don’t forget to report it to the police!" Tang Zheng waved his hand and walked away.
The woman paused but soon hurriedly put on her high-heels and left the alley. She was afraid that the Chinese man might change his mind.
"Damn, anything is possible here." Li Bo, who had watched Tang Zheng’s robbery from start to finish, was buzzing with excitement and wished he could chase after the woman and do the same. "In this world, are there no laws to follow?"
"Only if you have the power to crush the police." Ruan Feifei pushed Tao Hong into the alley, "Go change your clothes quickly, and don’t worry, no one’s peeking."
"One million Yen? Did this guy just get his paycheck and then you robbed him? How unfortunate." Dantai knew Tang Zheng planned to lure the police just to grab their guns, so he didn’t stop him. As for breaking the law? This is the Trojan Horse Game after all.
"Let’s go, we have serious business to take care of." Tang Zheng took more than half out and stuffed it in Dantai’s hands.
"How do all these places work?" Bubble baths, gay clubs, massage parlors — the array of service providers was enough to make Li Bo’s eyes dazzle and fill him with an insatiable urge to dive in and enjoy.
Ruan Feifei shot him a disgusted glance, before seeing Dantai and Tang Zheng carefully surveying their surroundings, looking for targets while discussing their next moves, embodying caution to its utmost.
"Hey, a strip club! Look no more, let’s head in here." As he spotted a bunny girl holding up a sign at the entrance, Li Bo didn’t want to move on, eager to get handsy right away.
"Go for the biggest one." Without so much as pausing, Dantai spoke. As adult stores were typically controlled by organized crime syndicates, it made more sense to go to the most powerful one if they were looking for a firearm.
"Let’s go to that one, it seems rather swanky." Tang Zheng selected a gorgeously decorated store and stepped inside. The others hurried to keep up.
Once inside the lobby, they were greeted by a man dressed in a black checkerboard-patterned suit. He didn’t bother checking their identities, instead asking them directly to leave.
"Why?" Li Bo, having had Japanese injected into his brain by the Silver Trojan, was itching to show off. Despite his still rather clumsy Japanese, he took initiative and asked.
"It’s the store’s policy not to serve foreigners." The man’s reason was simple: communication barriers scared the girls, and any disputes that arose could be troublesome.
"Damn, we’ve been outright rejected." Li Bo, dejected, was drooling over the glamorous portraits of female employees hanging on the wall, wishing he could gulp them down whole. "Boss Tang, think of something, I’ve got my eye on this woman."
Li Bo pointed at a woman with a mole under her eye and asked Tang Zheng.
"If you let me have her, I promise to do whatever you say from now on." Li Bo made his crude pitch, much to Ruan Feifei’s repulsion. She wanted to seal his lips.
"They won’t even let us make a scene, what now?" Gao Qiang was not only nervous but also a bit disappointed. He had thought it was a matter of not paying a girl after services, then getting into a fight, but now it seemed their plan wouldn’t come off.
"Dantai, your acting skills are up." Tang Zheng took a step back, deferring to Dantai.
"I’m no good at this stuff either. And, who was it being so proficient at armed robbery just now? It must be a habit of yours," Dantai complained, before addressing the man in the suit and handing him all of the money in his pocket, which added up to over four million.
Indeed, money makes the world go round. The suit-clad man discreetly took the cash and instantly began to beam, handing Dantai a book. It was filled with pictures and information about the girls, placed there for Dantai’s selection.
"Hey, I asked you to start a fight, not to continue with this nonsense." Tang Zheng was dumbstruck. "Don’t tell me this is your kind of thing? You’re into sex workers?"
"No, that’s for you. How was I supposed to know that the man in the suit had no shame? Just four million to betray the women. And he also mentioned that if we spent big in the store, he could introduce us to more pretty girls on a personal basis." The corner of Dantai’s mouth twitched. He had actually been hoping that the suit-wearing man would refuse so that he could punch him, pretend to be a victim of extortion, and stir up some chaos. But the situation evolved unexpectedly.
The suit-wearing man pulled out a phone and started contacting the girls. They usually moonlit as escort brokers. Seeing Tang Zheng glancing over, he smiled and nodded, a far cry from his standoffish demeanor just moments ago.
"With this development, I feel bad about hitting him." Tang Zheng shrugged his hands while looking at the enthusiastic suit-wearing man.
"Oh, cut the pretense. Isn’t it just because you want me to beat him up?" Dantai didn’t care. He’d been itching for a fight anyway. He stepped up to the suit-wearing man, suddenly reached out to grab his head, then slammed him onto the front desk.
The man in the suit fainted. Then Dantai dragged him onto the desk and picked from his pocket the Japanese Yen that hadn’t even had time to cool down.
"Let’s go." Dantai straightened his suit and walked inside.
Two girls about to start their shifts at the club froze in place. They turned and attempted to run, but the marble floor was too slippery. Their high-heeled shoes betrayed them and they ended up sprawling on the floor.
Li Bo, bursting into laughter, trotted a few steps to catch up with Dantai, pushed the door open, and entered the main lounge.
Under the dim, suggestive lighting, their vision became slightly obstructed, barely making out intertwined figures and lustful laughter floating through the air.
"Police, room check!" Lacking experience, Dantai didn’t know how to intimidate them and resorted to calling out in a way he was familiar with. However, no one seemed bothered. In Japan, this was a legitimate industry.
Upon hearing the shouting, the clients all turned their heads, eyeing Dantai as they would a monkey, then they burst into laughter. They reckoned that within three minutes, the troublemaker would be beaten up by the Yazaku and thrown out.
"Dantai, it seems you’re being underestimated." Tang Zheng figured he should learn how to be lazy and let Dantai handle these minor scuffles.
Dantai raised one of his finely shaped eyebrows and walked up to a row of sofas. He grabbed a bottle from a table and slammed it onto the head of a man who was busy fooling around with a woman.
A loud thud echoed as the bottle didn’t break, but the man’s forehead started bleeding, and he fell to the ground.
