Chapter 753: Chapter 16: The Attack of Demon Shadow Followers
Yu Manli and Ruan Feifei also entered the supermarket one after another. The five of them were enough to suppress the staff and control the situation.
Tang Zheng walked back to the cash register with a comic magazine, covertly signaling to indicate the positions of the staff inside. Dantai and Lin Weiguo immediately got into place.
"Do you sell maps here?" Tang Zheng handed out the magazine. The cashier picked it up and was about to answer when he felt pain in his neck, lost consciousness, and fell onto the cashier’s desk. The male staff member resting nearby got up in shock, but Ruan Feifei, who was a few steps away from him, made a short sprint, lifted her knee and struck his lower abdomen. Then, as he doubled over from the impact, a quick elbow strike smashed into his face.
The male staff member passed out, knocking over a chair and falling face-down on the floor.
The two women dragged the staff member into the supermarket without the need for Tang Zheng to do anything.
"Come in, Liang Mao, close the door," Tang Zheng walked to the entrance, beckoned, and waited for everyone to enter before pulling down the anti-theft door.
Mei Jueye stood at the door, glanced at Tang Zheng, turned, and left. He didn’t need the charity of these people; he could live well alone.
"Wait, Mei Jueye! Where are you going?" The old principal wasn’t content with seeing the high school student being excluded. "Why won’t you let him in?"
"Are you blind? Can’t you see he’s choosing to leave?" Chen Hong was really tired of dealing with this old man. "If you care about him so much, why don’t you go with him?"
"Xueqi, come with me. I’ll protect you," the old principal said stubbornly, and then left. When he reached the door, he looked back at Gu Xueqi. As the most outstanding and beautiful student in the school, there was no way the old principal wouldn’t know her.
"No, I don’t want to be with a madman." Gu Xueqi shook her head.
"Oh, there must be some misunderstanding here. I’ll figure it out," the old principal shook his head, looked very disappointed, and left to follow Mei Jueye.
Tang Zheng wasn’t worried about the high school student disappearing. The hunting area completely restricted the location of the survivors, and he had already figured out a way to deal with him.
"It really is true that the older, the more stubborn. He’ll get what’s coming to him," Chen Hong wished these newcomers would die off soon. They were just too annoying.
"Tang Zheng, what now? Are we just going to wait here all night?" The internet cafe owner, who had a previous acquaintance with Tang Zheng, jumped out to build a relationship with him.
"We will see later. How did you get in?" Tang Zheng looked at Li Hongda who was hiding in the crowd, "And you, could a billionaire die so easily?"
The eyes of the new people immediately moved over, examining him up and down. A billionaire wasn’t something you saw every day.
"Alcohol poisoning," Li Hongda gave a dry laugh, looking quite embarrassed. He couldn’t exactly tell Tang Zheng that he’d been stabbed a dozen times by the husband of a mistress he’d been sleeping with.
"I was killed by Dongzi. This guy is a thankless glutton," Liu Gang blamed Dongzi, clutching his stricken face, wishing he could skin him alive.
"Bullshit. You owe me several months of wages. If it weren’t for the fact that my sister urgently needed the money for surgery, do you really think I’d kill someone for no reason?" Dongzi looked fierce, wishing he could strangle Liu Gang.
"Well said! ’Swift vengeance is a virtue.’ Now that’s a real man!" The gang leader prominently sided with Dongzi. He sensed he was weak and like the look of Dongzi’s solid muscular figure. He knew Dongzi was very powerful and naturally wanted to get him on his side.
"Thanks." Dongzi said his thanks but did not respond. Looking at Tang Zheng, he would prefer to rely on this good man he’d met before, if given the choice.
"Stay alive, and you’ll return to reality. Even your criminal record will be cleared," Tang Zheng patted Dongzi’s shoulder, comforting him.
The gang leader glared at Dongzi. His clenched fist revealed his tension, it was as if he was getting ready to slap him in the face. If this had been in the past, he would likely have shot this ungrateful kid at the first hint of resistance.
Liu Gang’s face crumbled immediately. Li Hongda squeezed through the crowd with a smile on his face, asking, "Mr. Tang, what’s going on, really?"
"Mr. Lee, don’t be so formal, just call me Tang Zheng," Tang Zheng wasn’t accustomed to Li Hongda’s formality, but he flattered him, knowing he would need people like him as his sidekick to deal with the student reunion group. It should be effective.
"Just call me Old Li. In front of you, my small fortune is nothing," Upon hearing Tang Zheng’s words, Li Hongda indeed felt very respected. His chest also puffed out a bit. Of course, he knew how to return a favor and complimented Tang Zheng a few times, which didn’t cost him a thing.
The newbies’ attention had been transferred back to Tang Zheng again. Two billionaires? Was this some kind of joke?
The six rockers put down their crippled companion and prepared to take a look around the supermarket. If Qin Yan hadn’t told them to, who would care about that guy’s life or death? They were just playing together after all, and they hadn’t reached the point where their relationships were ’do or die.’
"Hey, stop wandering around. Go squat over there," Dongzi wanted to show his loyalty, and naturally helped Tang Zheng sort out the group’s relationships. "And you guys, no one leaves."
"Why are you restricting our freedom?" The ’Students’ Union,’ who were criticized, were unsatisfied and murmured complaints under their breath.
Dongzi, without saying a word, stepped forward and grabbed a man, slapping him across the face. The crisp sound of his slaps echoed, silencing everyone as if he had slapped all of them across the face, enraging them yet leaving them unable to retaliate.
Having been a gangster and enforcer for several years, Dongzi knew the type of people these bosses were. None of them wanted to see anyone in their team defy them.
"Dongzi, stop." Tang Zheng interjected, looking at the newcomers, "Act as you please. Even if you want to leave the supermarket, I won’t stop you. After all, if you stay together, the monsters won’t appear."
Of course, the newcomers dared not step foot outside the supermarket. However, being alongside five gangsters and Tang Zheng’s group was intense, so they decided to keep their distance.
Li Hongda wanted to ask more insider questions when he noticed Tang Zheng looking his way. It took him a moment, but he got the hint, nodded, and joined the group from the Students’ Union gathering.
"Tang Zheng wants me to coax the newcomers for him. Haha, as long as I do it right, I’ll have a powerful ally. Even if we die, I won’t be the first one to go."
After the adult members of the Students’ Union and their three teachers moved to a corner of the supermarket, they started debating.
"I suggest we leave. This group is too dangerous." Li Han’s mouth was somewhat swollen, voicing his opinion in a low and unmistakably angry tone.
"Agreed, who knows if they’re swindlers." Liu Qian sneered, not wanting to stay any longer, "There are twenty-three of us. We’re a force to be reckoned with, so what’s there to be afraid of?"
"I don’t think leaving is necessary, but we need to negotiate for a better standing." The weather was warm and Zhang Mei, a woman with a short hair, took off her coat. Her full chest strained against her thermal underwear.
Several men stole glances at her before diverting their eyes. It had been years since high school, and their female classmate had only become more alluring.
"Humph, if we don’t leave, be careful not to end up raped. They might just throw you guys onto a bed and use you as playthings." Liu Qian snatched a snack from a shelf, ripped open the package and started eating.
"Liu Qian, watch your words!" Zhao Feng, who was always outgoing, had always disliked Qian during their school days. He was disgusted by his words.
"The group there has pregnant women, children, and several other women. That proves that they are decent people. For one, I will not leave." Zhang Mei looked at Song Huiqiao, "What do you think?"
"Seconded." Song Huiqiao trusted her judgment. Besides, she was all too aware of the caliber of her old classmates. At times like these, it was better to take her destiny into her own hands.
Song Huiqiao was the prettiest and the most successful in her career. Hearing what she had to say, the men who had admired her throughout their school days immediately agreed with her.
The three teachers remained silent. They suddenly realized that their say in the matter was pitifully small. The students didn’t even consider asking them for their opinion.
"What are you doing here at our reunion?" Liu Qian, sullen, directed his anger towards Li Hongda who was standing nearby.
"Allow me to introduce myself. I’m the chairman of Dingxing Group, Li Hongda." Li Hongda extended his hand, his first target was Li Han. Adjusting his gold-rimmed glasses, a smug smile spread across his face, "Nice to meet you, Mr. Lee."
At that moment, other than those loyal to Li Han, everyone else felt a wave of nausea. They were all disgusted by his gloating. After all, wasn’t he just the first to shake hands with a billionaire? What’s there to gloat about? They couldn’t forget how Li Hongda had just been fawning over Tang Zheng.
"We’ve really got bad luck this time, having to fight with kitchen knives." Dantai returned with a bunch of kitchen knives and dumped them on the ground.
Tang Zheng picked up one, tore off the packaging, and tested its sharpness.
"Fighting hand-to-hand is too risky. Can you try to get us some guns?" Red sister proposed reluctantly, lacking confidence.
"Japan has strict gun laws. Unless you plan on robbing a police station or buying from a mob boss." Dantai twirled the knife up and down, clearly an expert in handling it. As a special agent, even a dinner knife could be a lethal weapon to her.
"I’ll go out later, rob some police officers, find some vehicles, and, by the way, make a map to figure out what the ’Demonic Shadow’ is." Just as Tang Zheng finished speaking, a terrified scream echoed through the supermarket.
Six young rockers toppled over the shelves in a panic, rushing to escape. Tang Zheng and his team ran over to see a two-headed hound-like monster rapidly sprinting, then suddenly soaring through the air. It pounced on the redhead youth, bit into his shoulder, swung its head, tearing away half of his body, and swallowed it.
The young man’s scream had just reached his throat when his entire head was swallowed by the monster.
The members of the Students’ Union arrived just in time to witness this gruesome scene. Two women went limp, falling to the ground in fright.
While the monster chewed on the corpse, it fixed its gaze on the survivors. This creature was about two and a half meters long, covered in palm-sized black scales. Red flames seeped through the gaps, making it look like a Lava Beast. Its black saliva dripped nonstop, eating away at the floor to create a pockmarked surface.
"So, this is a Demonic Shadow?" Ruan Feifei sneered, a blue-white lightning bolt leaped from her hand, aiming at the monster dozens of meters away, "A clumsy loner worth scoring some points."
"Who said it’s alone?" Pang Meiqin’s mouth twitched a little. The ground trembled before becoming softer. Black, swamp-like circles appeared, producing the Demonic Shadow’s minions. One after another, these creatures crawled out of the circles, eyeing the survivors ominously. (To be continued. If you like this work, please vote, and donate on qidian.com.
