Chapter 717: Chapter 59 Stripping Mech Armor Barehanded (4th Update)

Soldier number four was not a slick guy. Once his machine was hit, he found himself in a dilemma, torn between surrendering as per the rules and continuing to fight to defeat Tang Zheng. His hesitation might not mean much for a regular soldier, but his opponent was Tang Zheng, who naturally seized the opportunity.

"Damn it." Before number four could figure out what to do, his vision blacked out. A giant shadow blocked his path, startling him. When he looked up, he saw a dark muzzle pointed right at him, firing a barrage of paint bullets.

Bang, bang, all six paint bullets hit their target, exploding on the bulletproof glass, filling it with red liquid.

After delivering a sure-kill shot, Tang Zheng darted into the shadows of a nearby building, evading Lieutenant Parker’s pursuit.

"Forty seconds, downed the second Scavenger. Is he a war demon?" The defeat of the fourth soldier was not just swift, but also thorough, leaving no room for any excuses. The chilling sight made the soldiers break out in cold sweat, growing more pessimistic about Parker’s chances.

"This guy dominates in one-on-ones." The civilians weren’t fools either. They could see that Tang Zheng had overwhelming power, completely dominating even in a one-on-three. Single combat was just too easy for him.

Parker’s chances of winning plummeted, and the civilians shouted for a bet on Tang Zheng’s victory. However, the smart officers declared a stop to the betting.

"Uncle should knock the opponent down now, shouldn’t he?" Lu Fan, hiding behind the shelter, suddenly rose, fired a burst of single shots at a possible position for a sniper, and then crouched down again.

"Where do you think the sniper could be?" Ruan Feifei and Xu Biyun focused on locating the enemy while also seeking to claim a kill.

"Why bother? Let Tang Zheng fight." Dantai pulled out a piece of chocolate, unwrapped it and popped it in his mouth, appreciating the night sky.

"Too relaxed, isn’t it?" The live feed switched to Dantai’s Scavenger sitting on the ground nonchalantly doodling circles in the dirt, causing an uproar among the civilians.

"Is this a picnic or what?" Certain soldiers felt humiliated and indignantly blamed Dantai, only to be met with jeers from the watching civilians.

"Look, they’re dueling!" A civilian’s shout quickly brought everyone’s attention back to the projection screen as they all fixated on it.

Tang Zheng and Dantai’s power armors danced among the ruins, continuously firing at each other. The paint bullets exploded, splattering the nearby ruins with red spots.

The soldiers, seeing the deadlock, felt as if they’d regained their dignity. They cheered loudly for Parker. It’s no surprise that Parker, being the captain of the elite soldiers, had considerable skills, especially in shooting, he was on par with Tang Zheng.

"Impressive." After another dodge, Tang Zheng took a deep breath as he watched a paint bullet graze his heel and hit the ground. He had to use his full strength, as one small mistake could overturn and embarrass him.

Parker distinctly felt that Tang Zheng’s movements were twice as fast. Although his field of view could capture Tang Zheng, his hands couldn’t keep up. By the time the gun was aimed at Tang Zheng, he had already moved away.

"Damn, I’m going to lose." A strong sense of crisis weighed on his mind, and Parker’s heart began to tighten. Despite not wanting to admit it, he knew that if this continued, defeat was inevitable. So, he swiftly switched from offense to defense, hiding behind a shelter to protect his back and forced Tang Zheng to face him head-on.

"Why has he retreated? Push the attack!" The spectators were dissatisfied when Parker became defensive after a brief exciting moment.

"Just how physically strong is this guy? It’s terrifying." The pilots didn’t join in the heckling. As they watched Tang Zheng’s movements, they were dumbfounded. They had initially thought they had pushed their power armors to the limit, but Tang Zheng seemed to do even better.

"Why does Parker always miss his target? Isn’t he supposed to be the best shooter in the base? How come he can’t even hit at such a close range?" Reminded of Parker’s past combat records, the civilians voiced their confusion.

"What’s the use of seeing with your eyes if your hands can’t keep up, your body can’t keep up, your reactions can’t keep up? In other words, the two are simply not on the same level." A frustrated pilot explained. Facing a monster like Tang Zheng could be quite demoralizing.

The soldiers fell silent. They were the ones who had been eliminated from the pilot assessment. They knew well the physical demands and reflexes required to drive a Scavenger and the damage these movements could inflict on the body. Watching Tang Zheng go all out, they couldn’t help but admire him deeply.

After attempting three times, and confirming that Parker couldn’t keep up with his movements, Tang Zheng controlled the Scavenger to sprint leftward and then abruptly turned to sprint towards the right, using this lightning-paced maneuver to charge at Parker.

Parker didn’t fire blindly, as that would only demonstrate his incompetence. So, while fleeing, he calmly took single shots, all of which Tang Zheng dodged.

"Running again?" Tang Zheng didn’t care and kept firing, chasing Parker around like a rabbit, reducing him to a sorry state.

"There’s no suspense left." Seeing Parker’s pitiful performance, the civilians were discontented and began to boo. But in the next moment, the heckling stopped abruptly. The training ground fell into a deafening silence. Then, all at once, the civilians cursed out loud.

"Holy shit, how’s that possible? Are you guys cheating?"

Sparks suddenly burst from the joints of Tang Zheng’s power armor, the steel broke, and the machine fell to the ground. It’s no wonder the civilians reacted this way.

"Really? Is this guy’s physical ability so formidable that even the power armor can’t withstand it?" The pilots were more professional and quickly realized the cause of the Scavenger’s sudden breakdown. They promptly offered an explanation to prevent the civilians from misunderstanding: "The extreme movements he was performing clearly exceeded the load-bearing capacity of the power armor joints, which is why they broke."

Hearing this explanation, the civilians were dumbfounded, finding it hard to believe. Is that man’s body really tougher than steel? What kind of monster is he?

The generals also stared blankly at the fallen Scavenger, their mouths gaping wide enough to swallow a duck egg whole.

"Opportunity." Parker’s eyes lit up, sensing that his moment had come. He abruptly stopped and aimed at Tang Zheng, shooting a paint bullet. Regardless of the complaints it might provoke, he was determined to take down his opponent.

"It’s over." As soon as these words left the lips of some civilians, they saw the hatch of the fallen Scavenger’s bulletproof glass open. The young man inside leapt out even before the paint bullet could hit him. He then courageously charged towards Parker’s Power Armor and, while passing by, casually picked up the fallen Nanometal Military Knife.

The unexpected turn of events dumbfounded everyone. Suppose the Scavenger were immobilized, he would naturally be considered defeated. Yet the scene unfolding before them perfectly overturned everyone’s understanding.

"What’s he trying to do? Dismantle the Power Armor by hand?"

"This guy is crazy."

"Parker has rotten luck. He actually attacked the broken Scavenger."

The civilians clamored with opinions, but their eyes were all glued to the screen, afraid to miss a single detail.

Tang Zheng initiated full firepower and swiftly closed the distance to ten meters. Despite Parker’s astonishment at Tang Zheng’s action, he didn’t hesitate to aim his gun and fire. Paint bullets shot out in rapid bursts.

Now freed from the limitations of the Scavenger, Tang Zheng’s agility was brought to its utmost. He dodged between the paint bullets like a migratory fish, pulling his knife with his right hand and pulled out a Beretta M9 with his left, and hit the Scavenger.

The bullet hit the bulletproof glass. Although it didn’t penetrate, Parker’s eyelids still instinctively twitched. He then saw Tang Zheng successfully closing in, brandishing his knife fiercely and slashing at the knee joint.

With a clang, steel clashed against steel, showering sparks, Parker retreated, lowering his aim to shoot Tang Zheng, but the latter had already leapt behind the Scavenger, slashing at the joints another time.

The colliding sounds from the sound pickup were painful to the ears. After six slashes, the Power Armor’s right leg could no longer withstand the strong chops and broke off, sparks spewing from the cut.

Parker was so frustrated he coughed up blood. As soon as he got the hatch open and jumped out, Tang Zheng had already pounced, his fist slammed into Parker’s cheek, sending him flying into the ruins.

Tang Zheng cast a glance at Parker, who couldn’t get up, dragged his alloy military knife, and walked towards Robot number three.

"That army knife weighs at least 20 kilograms, right? He can swing it around? He really is a monster." The commander sighed, being an old man, he always admired the strength of the young.

"One VS three, absolute victory, can he achieve a record-breaking victory too?" The civilians eagerly watched Tang Zheng, hoping that he could take down the fourth robot.

"The shooting rhythm has changed, we can attack now." Dantai noticed that the sniper’s shooting rhythm had become more hurried, obviously affected by the battlefield affairs of Tang Zheng’s side, he decided to take action, "I will count one, two, rush out, and suppress at the same time."

As soon as he finished counting, Ruan Feifei and Xu Biyun, who were eager for merit, rushed out quickly and began a counterattack in the direction the bullets were coming from. Dantai intentionally delayed for half a second to let them draw fire, then sprinted with all his force. He’d been familiarizing himself with the operation during the past few minutes and now expertly executed his move.

Without any suspense, three minutes later, Robots three and five were taken down. Ruan Feifei and Xu Biyun were slightly frustrated as they were the units annihilated by Lu Fan and Dantai.

"Humph. I’m undoubtedly the strongest." Seeing the soldiers’ gaze, Lu Fan stood on the Power Armor, proudly raising his chin. "Huh, I won’t tell you that I secretly used my ability to trip Robot three."

Although Tang Zheng had ruined his Scavenger, no one denied that this was a complete victory. In particular, Tang Zheng’s splendid performance in the one VS three battle left the crowd discussing it enthusiastically after the match. It was certain that this would be the main topic at the base for the next few days.

The commander kindly patted Tang Zheng’s shoulder and gave him some praise. He told him to boldly speak up if he encounters any issues in life, obviously seeing his potential, then told him to report to the command center tomorrow, and left.

This was undoubtedly a leap in status. The soldiers watching Tang Zheng were filled with envy, not knowing that Tang Zheng didn’t care about such vanities, his only goal was information about killing the Queen.

"Dantai, we must steal the Scavenger tonight. Bai Guo, it’s up to your performance." Tang Zheng noticed Zhuo Lie’s gaze and heightened his alertness as this was a tough enemy.
