Chapter 700: Chapter 44: Surprise Attack

Boom boom, Mechanical Squid were shattered by the missiles they had fired. The Beetle moved effortlessly among the smoke and fire, dodging attacks.

The remaining Mechanical Squid moved in closer, blocking the way firmly. Tang Zheng immediately pressed a button, shooting a steel cable from next to the turret, which hooked onto the ceiling. Like Tarzan, the Beetle swung over the Mechanical Squid, guns unceasingly thundering, sweeping a line of barrage and creating craters on the muddy ground. Squid in the line of attack were punctuated with fist-sized holes.

"Leave one for me!" Dantai Zongqi, guns in both hands, exploded a Squid’s head and shouted. Suddenly, the Beetle jerked and jumped, almost throwing him off. He hurriedly held onto the handrail.

"Throw the grenades!" Tang Zheng set the Beetle to autopilot, crawled out of the cabin, and with a flick of his left hand, dozens of TNT bombs poured out of his wristwatch, raining down like hailstones on the Mechanical Squid.

The steel rope retracted, the Beetle landed, as nimble as a flower-picking bee. It maneuvered with two zigzag movements, avoiding the Squid debris, and hid behind a row of battery canisters.

"We’re all penniless, damn it, you tycoon, can you spare me some explosives? You’re a bomb maniac!" As Dantai finished his words, a fierce explosion erupted behind him.

Looking at the rising flames engulfing the Squid group like tides coming in, parts flying around in a fiery storm, Dantai couldn’t help but feel envious. In the whole team, apart from Tang Zheng, no one was willing to use supplies like this, but fighting with him was pretty easy.

"Problems that can be solved with bombs are not problems!" Tang Zheng also felt that he should exchange for some powerful bombs, especially those for special purposes, which could be used to set traps easily.

"Indeed, problems have been bombed to ashes by you!" With a sigh, Dantai looked at Tang Zheng’s Space Wristwatch in envy, "I wonder when we’ll encounter the Russian Conquerors again, it’d be great if we could capture some more wristwatches. The amount is too small."

Dantai’s Space Backpack wasn’t bad either, an A-grade prop that looked like a waist bag, but had a full twenty cubic meters of space inside, which could hold a lot of items. However, it was simply incomparable to the Space Wristwatch. Not to mention the storage space, but the convenience was far inferior.

"That depends on chance, or you could spend a high amount of points and specifically challenge the Trojan Squad from the Russian region, wait, I still have some!" Tang Zheng suddenly remembered, while on his radar, red dots started to appear again, and he could even hear intense gunfire. He knew he was about to leave the energy warehouse.

"So I can’t even beat Pang Meiqin?" Dantai was a little disgruntled, even that woman who was always slacking off had one. The last time Tang Zheng came back from the Beastman world, he also captured one. Because Dantai wasn’t familiar with Tang Zheng at the time, he naturally wasn’t a priority to be taken care of. Just as he was about to sigh, he heard that Tang Zheng still had one and immediately stared at Tang Zheng.

"This conqueror from India in the Blackened Journey to the West contributed it, I forgot to give it to you!" Tang Zheng piloted the Beetle onwards, took out a Space Wristwatch and gave it to Dantai.

"I was just asking, you’re not really giving me one, are you?" Dantai frowned, he wanted to win it on his own. Also, it’s a debt too big to repay.

"It’s useless for me to keep it anyway." Tang Zheng didn’t mind, sprayed gunfire, and shot down a metal door a hundred meters away. The sunshine immediately shone in, and then, like a bullet, the Beetle dashed out.

"An S-grade prop, worth 8,000 points, three golden seeds." Mei Jueye scanned the wristwatch, was so shocked by the exorbitant price that he almost bit his tongue off, immediately greed crept in, but he soon restrained it.

"Even such a top-notch prop can be given away without blinking, is this guy an idiot?" Mei Jueye slandered Tang Zheng in his heart. It is a lie to say he didn’t feel lost and regretful. He feels that if he had put on a good performance and became Tang Zheng’s team member, he could also enjoy this treatment now.

"No, Mei Jueye, you can’t lose heart. Depend on yourself, you can also survive, and live better." The high school student suddenly waved his hand and slapped himself, "Don’t be blinded by appearances. Tang Zheng is definitely trying to win people’s hearts and trick them into dying."

Mei Jueye was just finding excuses. He didn’t want to admit that Tang Zheng is a good person, because it would make him feel that what he did was stupid.

Tang Zheng had no time to bother about him. He kept a lookout on his surroundings, scanning the environment.

This was a war-torn base, far less bustling than in the virtual world. As far as the eye could see, there were fragments of mechanical steel, various ruins of abandoned buildings. Wet and hot breezes blowing, raising large clouds of black dust.

At this time, a large number of humanoid mechanical soldiers were fighting with the human resistance troops, and more than a thousand Mechanical Squid were swarming out from the underground base into the battlefield.

At first, the Resistance took the advantage due to the surprise attack, but the Queen’s mechanical forces were too numerous. Over time, the situation became deadlocked, yet leaning towards them.

There were warplanes in the sky from time to time, dropping bombs, but the number was too small, like a drop in the bucket, just bombing the robots’ firepower forts.

Next to the base exit where Tang Zheng had zoomed out from, 50 meters away, there was another exit. The mechanical squids and robots that had crawled out noticed the beetle and immediately turned their muzzles to shoot it down.

The design and manufacture of these robots were rather crude. A central control chip, a metal skeleton, a pair of electronic eyes with scanners, plus an electromagnetic rifle, and they could be deployed to the battlefield. Their combat ability was quite remarkable.

They didn’t even need training. As long as data was input into the chip, they could master the killing skills that humans needed many years to learn. They were fearless of death, and some dare-to-die team robots were even equipped with bombs. They would deploy by parachute or assault in troop carriers, using every means to charge into the resistance and self-destruct.

The beetle jumped evasively, dodging the bullets. Meanwhile, the turret turned, sweeping the robot soldiers. The mechanical squid launched missiles, bombing the beetle.

Dantai quickly fired shots, specifically aiming at the squid. After all, a mechanical squid was equivalent to the combat power and manufacturing cost of hundreds of robot soldiers; it naturally needed special care.

After switching to auto-pilot, Tang Zheng found the shooting view through the port too small. He crawled straight out of the cockpit and shot at the robots. Even though the beetle was constantly evading and jumping, Tang Zheng never missed his targets. The thunderballs whistled out, turning them into scrap metal.

One of the robots detached a hand grenade, just as it was getting ready to throw, a thunderball blasted its head off. The hand grenade fell to the ground with a bang, flipping over all of the mechanical soldiers within a three-meter radius.

"This is a battle zone, too dangerous. Let’s retreat first!" Dantai roared and asked Tang Zheng to return and operate the Beetle.

Over sixty meters away, a human squad was under attack by a mechanical squid. Seeing Tang Zheng shooting down robot soldiers one by one, with no bullets wasted, they immediately screamed and started retreating this way, hoping to fight relying on the beetle.

Tang Zheng pulled out a Cluster Rabbit Bomb, twisted his waist, swung his arm, and violently threw it out. The bomb hit the mechanical squid straight in the head.

Seeing the five strange rabbit puppets bundled together, the twenty soldiers of the human squad were stunned. What did this mean? Their opponent wasn’t a little girl who would be distracted by toys, but then they heard a loud explosion.

The mechanical squid was completely blown to pieces. The shock wave stirred up a large swath of dust. The soldiers were shocked and speechless, amazed at the power of the rabbit bomb.

"This guy’s arm strength is incredibly strong. Could he be a robot in human skin?" A soldier estimated the distance and looked at Tang Zheng in awe. Only the top elite soldiers in the military would be able to throw a rabbit bomb significantly over 1.5 kilograms.

"Didn’t you notice? That young man is still at ease. I estimate when he goes all out, he can throw nearly a hundred meters." The captain had sharp eyes. Tang Zheng’s physique did not seem to be that of a muscular tough guy, but his body’s contours and outlines were too perfect, with each muscle inch radiating powerful energy.

"Hurry up!" Tang Zheng yelled. After shooting two more down, he controlled the beetle and drove back underground to the base. Without a vehicle, if the Trojan Squad appeared in the combat zone, several of them would certainly get killed.

"Why save them? Look, we’ve drawn a group of robots." Mei Jueye was constantly monitoring the screen and saw a platoon of over a hundred robots chasing. He couldn’t help but complain. He admitted that he was not as strong as Tang Zheng and Dantai. The Thunderstorm rifle was good, but the opponent could fill him with holes.

"Without someone leading the way, do you think you could get out?" Dantai understood why Mei Jueye always contradicted everyone. It was because he was too stupid. "Also, about the vehicle, you can’t expect me to ride on your back to escape, can you?"

Mei Jueye felt like slapping himself and swore not to ask such moronic questions ever again. In fact, many people wouldn’t have thought of it. He was blaming himself too much.

The beetle stopped at the exit. Tang Zheng propped himself up with both hands on the turret and jumped up to stand on it. Then he drew out two Terminators to sweep towards the robots.

Twelve gun barrels rotated, making a humming current sound, and a storm of bullet barrages was shot out. Countless brass bullet shells were thrown out, hitting and bouncing off the armor with a crisp metal sound.

Suddenly, a large number of robotic soldiers fell. The whole formation was like a delicious cake meeting a greedy old cat, being constantly gnawed on. Three seconds later, it was torn apart, divided into two groups.

"Pass me another box of bullets!" Dantai had finished his rounds and was still excited. This gun was too cool. Even if it scraped a bullet, the mechanical squid would explode. Besides, a single shot could pierce through four or five robots. There was no way; the power was too strong. He even wanted to fire Cannon Beam bullets worth one point each, which would definitely be more potent.

"Ah, even if I could afford it, I couldn’t use it!" Thinking about the price of those bullets, Dantai sighed. Comparisons are really odious.

The human squad jumped into the entrance. They also needed to rest for a while and report to headquarters. The captain estimated that they were the target persons they were looking for.
