Chapter 694 - 38 Code Missing

Chapter 694: Chapter 38 Code Missing

Watching the ferocious large Love Bug Viruses charging like starved beasts, the newbies paled in fear. Their undergarments were damp and warm, urine leaking out and their strength to flee drained. They instinctively retreated, moving closer to Tang Zheng.

Charging at high speed, the Love Bug Viruses were like a rampaging herd of wild beasts. Chu Baichuan pressed his hands on them, and before feeling the force of impact, an explosion came off from him. A ball of fire enveloped the Love Bug Viruses, killing them. However, the continuous stream of monsters overwhelmed Chu Baichuan.

"Get out of the way!" Chu Baichuan warned loudly before turning to check on Ai Yixin’s safety.

Qin Yan grabbed Ai Yixin and Tang Lu, pulling them behind her. Li Xinlan released her ability, causing an ice platform with a radius of five meters to rise from the ground, elevating them five meters into the air. The nearby Conquerors climbed up safely, using the platform for defense.

"Save us!" Seeing this, few of the newbies, feeling smug, rushed over to try and climb up. It was too late though. Li Xinlan didn’t have the time to help them. Maintaining this ice platform drained much of her life energy. The lack of water in the area made her task much more difficult.

Transformed into a beast, Xu Liangmao swatted one away just before others stormed over him, toppling him to the ground. The Love Bug Viruses then crashed into the icy pillar.

Shattering ice chunks clattered down, causing a perceptible sway. Lu Fan raised her hand and released the Wisdom Sword. Unfortunately, due to some limitations, she wasn’t able to kill a single Virus. She then pulled out her Gauss Sniper Rifle, firing armor-piercing high-explosive rounds. The Love Bugs exploded like water-filled balloons, their deep red innards splattering against the white icy pillar, an unusual and horrific sight.

Chen Hong unfurled her wings, flying onto the icy platform. Her electromagnetic rifle fired, yet it couldn’t murder the large Love Bug Viruses. Even the Thunderstorm required four to five hits to kill one.

Mei Jueye was about to be trampled when he suddenly pulled out two tactical straight knives. Leaping towards the icy pillar, he inserted the blades just moments before collision, suspending himself in midair. Then, alternating the movement of the knives, he began to climb up.

Yao Feng was frantically shooting at the Love Bug Viruses. Witnessing Mei Jueye’s act, he contemplated emulating it. Sadly, he had no knife. At a loss for what to do next, Tang Zheng grabbed him by the collar and tossed him onto the icy platform.

The other newbies weren’t as fortunate. However, with Tang Zheng still around, the group leader donned in his Iron Hellfire armour stomped on the ground and charged into the swarm of Love Bug Viruses. He swung his hands, firing light beams from his palms, exploding them into vague masses of flesh.

The Gatling gun on his shoulder whirred as rocket flames shot out, darting into the bodies of the Love Bug Viruses and detonating. Pieces of flesh and splatters of blood covered the area, much like paint. The smell of blood engulfed them.

The shockwave from the explosion staggered the newbies. A Japanese woman stumbled a few steps away from the crowd. In the next moment, she was struck by an errant Rhino Virus. Her body spun and rolled away, bones breaking continuously.

The Love Bug Virus charged past the Japanese woman, swung its head and sank its salivating, sharp teeth into her. When it closed its mouth and jerked its head, it detached half of her body. The remaining half was thrown away as Finger-Length Love Bug Viruses descended upon it, consuming the remains.

Xu Biyun used puppets as meat shields, trying to run behind the icy pillar to escape the charge of the Love Bug. But the ceiling crumbled once again, and Rhino Viruses began dropping from other directions.

Ruan Feifei continuously released lightning, frying the Love Bug Viruses into charcoal while moving towards the icy pillar.

Save me!" The tour guide clung to the show hostess, crying and pleading.

"Fend for yourself!" Ruan Feifei, without any hesitation, sent a thumb-sized blue electric arc running from her hand onto the guide. The latter was immediately convulsed by the electricity and collapsed, losing control of her sphincter muscles, excreting feces and urine uncontrollably.

Watanabe and the remaining five Japanese sought refuge by Ruan Feifei, hoping to find a safe haven. However, after witnessing her actions, they were left stunned.

"Get lost!" The electric arc on Ruan Feifei’s hand darted like a tuna in the Mediterranean, crackling loudly, leaving a clear path for her.

The show hostess pulled out two tactical straight knives, leaped and climbed up the ice pillar. The puppet grabbed Xu Biyun and tossed her up onto the icy platform. Now, only the weak newbies and the group leader were left below.

The little girl cried out and stretched her arms towards her mother, struggling to reach her. Luckily, Dantai was quick to react, preventing her from leaving.

Lu Fan swept her gaze and launched a sand rope, securing it around the young woman’s waist and pulling her up. This scene incited envy amongst the newbies.

Seeing Tang Zheng reluctant to assist them and Tang Lu and others being well-protected, the dozen or so indigenous warriors of the resistance thought of ALǓ Retreat. There were plenty of cars in the underground parking lot, and they could get away from this damned place by procuring any one of them. Thus, they began to act.

The combat power of this small resistance group was undoubtful. They moved quickly, particularly when Tang Zheng and others had grabbed the attention of the larger Love Bug Viruses. They managed to create a safe distance.

"Light it up quickly!" Theleader instructed his team to establish a defense beside a few sports cars, about thirty meters away, buying time for the car thieves.

Within three seconds, the engine of the sports car roared to life. Just as he was about to start up the next one, the ceiling collapsed and a massive block of concrete crashed down. He dodged it, but half of his calf was shattered by the impact.

The elite team had to retreat a few steps, but the moment the dust settled, they rushed back to help. One of them pocketed the injection of code and exposed the protective needle cap by pressing the thumb, preparing to inject it into the teenager’s neck. However, before they could inject the liquid, they felt a foul-smelling saliva drip onto his arm.

Startled, the team member pulled back abruptly. Seconds later, several large-scale Insect viruses jumped down. The team member with a broken leg also became aware of the danger. He bore the pain and tried to continue the code injection, but an Insect virus immediately bit off his head.

"Mission failed, retreat from Virtual World!" the team leader originally planned to make a detour later, but seeing the increasing number of large-scale Insect viruses, he abandoned the idea.

"We can’t retreat!" The indigenous team leader who had introduced the Phantom Virus to Tang Zheng was both loyal and dedicated. He didn’t agree to retreat initially. Seeing the others declaring the mission a failure and preparing to exit the Virtual World, he shouted at them in a bid to stop them.

Aside from his three subordinates, no member of the elite team gave him a second glance. They took out the injection code, released the protection, and jabbed it into their own necks.

"You cowards!" The indigenous team leader cursed them all vehemently, barely containing his urge to shoot them dead.

The bodies of the elite team members started to blur and give off a ghostly double image before gradually vanishing.

"Leave the injection codes!" The Resistance wasn’t as united as first thought. A few useless pawns would only add to the death toll so Tang Zheng didn’t mind them fleeing. However, taking the insulated box with them was unacceptable.

Tang Zheng fired up his thrusters and charged at a team member’s fading figure. Just before it was too late, he managed to snatch the insulated box.

"The rest of you, leave! Inject the code and go!" After shouting, Tang Zheng ignored them, returned to his position before the ice pillars and resumed his onslaught on the Insect viruses.

These monsters relied on their numerical advantage and the ability to drain stamina to show their arrogance. Protected by Xin Lan’s combat platform, the Trojan squad could safely stall for ten minutes. But Tang Zheng didn’t want to continue this way. Each member of the Trojan Squad, himself included, had their skin constantly gnawed by small Insect viruses, and their stamina drained, rendering them weary and bloodied. He didn’t want to lead a group of exhausted people into the Itala Base. It was too risky.

"Inject your codes and leave this place!" Tang Zheng’s words immediately sent the newbies into a state of panic.

"My code broke!" Jing Xiang cried out in desperation, her voice filled with panic as she turned to Tang Zheng. "Group Leader!"

In Jing Xiang’s eyes, Tang Zheng was her only lifeline. She was not the only one; many of the newbies had also lost their codes during the chaos of the previous escape since they didn’t have a place to store them.

"Here’s how you use it!" Pang Meiqin shouted and jumped down the moment she noticed it was temporarily safe below. She explained how to use the code. The beautiful leg stewardess was not trying to be a good Samaritan. She just wanted some of the cannon fodder to leave first and scout the path ahead. Even if they were attacked, these unlucky ones would at least serve as a distraction.

The newbies who had their codes immediately took them out and followed her instructions. They were too panicked and scared, having lost their judgment long ago. All they wanted was to leave this place filled with an atmosphere of impending death.

A Japanese man who didn’t have a code turned his attention to Red, the female office worker who was nearest to him. He rushed over, snatched the blue syringe from her hand, and swiftly injected it into his body.

"Give it back to me!" Red pulled on his arm, to no avail. The others who didn’t have codes started looking fierce, ready to fight for them, making the atmosphere even tenser than before.

"What are you fighting for? There’s more here!" Tang Zheng threw out the insulated box, burning with anger. If he wasn’t otherwise engaged, he would have thrashed those disobedient bastards.

Jing Xiang rushed to the insulated box, opened it hurriedly, and grabbed one.

"Stop fighting, there’s enough for everyone!" Annoyed at the chaos below, Pang Meiqin almost kicked the box away. But realizing it wouldn’t benefit her, she held back.

Those who had codes proceeded to inject themselves and began to retreat.

"Give me one!" The female tour guide’s body still felt numb from the electrical shock and was barely under her control. Even her saliva dripped from her mouth corner. She looked for help from the others, but no newbie heeded her plea. She turned to the driver, her colleague, for help, but after a glance, he ignored her and proceeded to inject himself with the code.

Seeing that her daughter’s code was gone, the young woman immediately gave her own code to her.

"Meiqin, toss me a couple of them!" Qin Yan saw the situation and frowned, calling out to Pang Meiqin below. (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit qidian.com to vote and support. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
