Infinite Ebullience
Chapter 682 - 26: Convergence

Chapter 682: Chapter 26: Convergence

Pang Meiqin drove her car like a tuna in the ocean, deftly navigating through the crisscrossing future city.

Tang Zheng fired bullets, blowing up a police car that had rushed out from the left. Through the rearview mirror, he saw the chasing police cars driving past the bank entrance and immediately pressed the detonator.

In the intense roar, the remote control bomb exploded, and the rising flame dragon swept across the police fleet in an instant. The hot shockwave upended everything around.

"Real men never watch explosions!" The boy, with his collar up high, listened to the clanging of metal debris on the ground, his face beaming with excitement. Not satisfied yet, he cocked his gun, slid open the sunroof, and started shooting at the police car.

Whiz whiz, two bullets hit the roof of the car, sparking little points of fire. The boy, scared, quickly retreated inside like a mole.

"That was close!" The boy, still in shock, started laughing uncontrollably. He thought there was nothing more thrilling and fun than this game. After catching his breath, he prepared to climb out again for combat.

"Let’s switch cars now!" Tang Zheng stopped him, threw a timed bomb set for two minutes onto the seat, and immediately jumped out of the car as it steadied, sprinting toward a taxi they had prepared earlier.

The newbies didn’t dare to slack off, running at full speed. The female guide fell due to nerves, cutting her lip, but there was no time to express pain. She got up and continued running for fear of being left behind.

Observing the pedestrians on the street, Tang Zheng gave up his plan to blow up a tall building. Fortunately, Pang Meiqin was skilled enough to evade police cars with ease. The only problem was the city-wide surveillance, which left them no place to hide.

"Stick to the original plan and go to the busiest shopping plaza." Tang Zheng said, his face calm despite the faint sound of explosions. He was reloading his gun while directing the operation.

The four newbies’ hearts pounded uncontrollably. It was too nerve-wracking. Mei Jueye seemed composed, despite the bruise on his face from Tang Zheng’s kick, it looked quite ridiculous. Plus, he was constantly on guard, fearing that the group leader would abandon him as bait.

They drove into an underground parking lot ten minutes later. After taking back everyone’s weapons, Tang Zheng stepped out of the car and adjusted his clothes. He calmly walked towards the exit, followed by the four newbies.

"Look natural, do you want everyone to know we’re up to something?" Tang Zheng shared his experience. He skipped the crowded elevator and took the stairs instead, quickly identifying the locations of the cameras. Noticing the thick layer of dust on one, which suggested it was broken, he felt relieved.

In a matter of minutes, Tang Zheng shrugged off his sportswear and put on a new black suit. Pang Meiqin did the same, but she changed into a professional outfit and also put on a wig and false eyelashes for disguise.

"What do we do?" The newbies were dumbfounded, wondering if the group leader was going to abandon them.

Mei Jueye watched the two of them. He felt annoyed, almost mad. He could maybe accept losing to Tang Zheng, but to lose to Pang Meiqin too was a joke. Of course, he didn’t know that in order to survive, the stewardess with beautiful legs had privately collected a lot of information about camouflage, which made her fleeing skills incomparable to his.

"Here!" Tang Zheng casually tossed a few sets of clothes their way, then put on large sunglasses that covered half of his face, and led the way upstairs.

Twenty minutes later, Tang Zheng’s group blended into the shopping mall crowd, virtually unnoticed.

"Why not use the Memory Eraser to deal with those shop owners? We could avoid spending money." The boy holding some electronic devices was a little dissatisfied. He felt their hard-earned money should be spent with caution.

"Idiot, it’s because there are too many people. If you don’t zap them all at once, it’s pointless." Pang Meiqin glared at the boy, annoyed. He seemed to be taking liberties, and she should let him know who was in charge.

"Oh, I didn’t think of that." The boy laughed, then turned to a shop selling electronic games. Enthralled by the splendid combat sounds, he didn’t move, "Boss, buy me a handheld console. These are future games, only we can play them in the entire world. My classmates will be so jealous if I bring it back."

"Any leakage of ’Trojan’ information will result in execution!" Tang Zheng didn’t have time to deal with them. He quickened his pace to go shopping while checking his list.

By noon, Tang Zheng’s team safely returned to the villa. After eating some food randomly, they set out again. This time their transportation was a motorhome. Besides being comfortable, it was also convenient for Tang Lu to hack.

"Only three laptops? Isn’t this setup too crude?" Lu Fan, who was squatting nearby, was curiously observing Tang Lu. Her hands fluttered over the keyboards like butterflies gliding through a flower field.

"With this speed, if she played competitive games, she could easily defeat everyone!" The boy’s envy was beyond words. His hands were in the air, pressing the imaginary keys as if he were the one operating the computer.

"Humph, don’t look down on me." Tang Lu finished her self-praise, but her face suddenly turned pale. The speed of her actions doubled, "Oh no, someone’s hacking in. I may not be able to block them."

Tang Zheng noticed the transient smile that flickered at the corners of the young girl’s mouth, surmised it was just a prank, and chose to ignore it, lying down on the bed to sleep.

"Eh, someone’s beaten me to it by already hacking into the police station and erasing our criminal records." Tang Lu exclaimed in surprise. However, she soon shouted happily, at least, they were safe for now.

By evening, everyone arrived at the Dome Garden. After waiting for less than five minutes, the disguised Dantai showed up and led them to a nearby temporary camp.

"Where’s Zhou Xiong? Dead?" After Lu Fan and Bai Guo high-fived in celebration, he looked around. The old couple were apparently dead, and Yi Ting was still alive. Apart from that, there were no casualties. "It seems your mission went smoothly!"

Tang Zheng had already spotted Dantai’s protection target, a young man with freckles and heavy prescription glasses, huddled in a corner with a laptop. He appeared engrossed and silent, without any concern for the outside world.

"Not bad, it looks like you guys ran into quite a bit of trouble!" A few newbies died; Dantai didn’t care. "What’s the next step? There’s very little information about the resistance. It’s difficult to find the base. Oh, I had that kid hack into the police station and delete our records."

"Why don’t they attack the central computer, make contact, and go from there? They might slip up." Lu Fan also noticed that the kid was a hacker, figuring his skills must be decent.

"We have no choice but to do that." Tang Zheng didn’t have a better idea. The clues were definitely on the targets they needed to protect. It all depended on how the other two teams did.

"It’s the Japanese team!" Bai Guo, who was peering out the window over the Dome Garden square with a telescope, suddenly shouted. Immediately after, the sound of sirens filled the air.

"Should we save them? It appears they didn’t just fail the mission, they also brought the mechanical police." Dantai wore an aloof expression. He didn’t see their target among the Japanese, so he had completely lost faith in them.

"A bunch of dumbasses, can’t even do a simple task!" Chen Hong cursed. She wanted to show she had a voice in the team this way, but unfortunately, no one was paying her any attention.

"Why not save them?" Tang Zheng put down the telescope. "Do you want to go or should I?"

"You go, I won’t steal the group leader’s thunder!" Dantai quickly understood Tang Zheng’s intentions. If he could gain favor by helping the Japanese team, it could come in handy later on. Plus, the ones pursuing them were just standard mechanical police—too weak. Even if Pang Meiqin were to face them, he supposed she would probably come out unscathed.

"Jian Xing, Jueye, the high schooler...ah, and Yi Ting, too. Move out!" Tang Zheng selected four cannon fodders and led the team into action.

"Why do I have to go too?" Yi Ting complained a bit and pouted, turning to look at Dantai. "I’ve already done a lot on the way here."

"I don’t make the decisions." Dantai ignored her and redirected his gaze.

"You can rest!" Tang Zheng surveyed Yi Ting and saw that her clothes were heavily soiled. Apparently, she had been in a fight. He decided to let her off the hook, otherwise, she might not obey orders in the future. "Gao Xin, driver, both of you come."

"There’s hardly any danger in this minor incident as long as you’re slightly careful. Moreover, if you don’t go through actual combat, you won’t grow at all." Tang Zheng was charging in, passing on various careful reminders. Even Mei Jueye was eagerly listening in. He wasn’t stupid; these were the experiences of a group leader who had escaped from the jaws of death, definitely reliable.

The firefight was short and intense. The newbies did not even get a chance to open fire before Tang Zheng, in his power armor, swooped in. In less than thirty seconds, he had wiped out eight police cars, setting off a sea of flames.

"Arigato!" A man with a goatee, who was clearly the leader, stepped forward and bowed to thank Tang Zheng. Another suspicious figure stepped forwards and with a flustered face started to urge everyone to leave immediately. However, the goatee man just turned around and slapped him twice on the face.

"I apologize for showing you such a farce." There was a sense of pride in the goatee man’s very bones. Being rescued by someone was something to be grateful for, but he absolutely did not want his countrymen to show panic and unrest in front of a foreigner. It was a disgrace to the honor of the Yamato ethnicity.

"Let’s leave. Everyone needs rest and medical treatment!" Tang Zheng smiled, leading the way for everyone. The warmth he provided made the Japanese people, who had been fleeing for over a day, feel a spring breeze, and everyone gave him a thumbs-up in praise.

"We caused you trouble." The goatee man held a lot of sway as the president. The rest didn’t dare to leave until he spoke.

Watching this group of Japanese people, who looked as though they had just crawled out of a quagmire, Tang Zheng’s face was calm, but he frowned in his heart. It seemed he still had to get rid of this intrusive goatee first and break them up into loose sand. Otherwise, they would be difficult to control.

"How are there only seventeen people left? Nearly half the numbers are down!" Tang Zheng innocently asked the goatee president. Clearly, he was deliberately pointing out his shortcomings. This trashy level of leadership was probably annoying to the team members anyway. He was just sowing discord.

"Those people in black are too strong, too difficult to deal with." The goatee man’s face twitched, but he didn’t dare lose his temper. He explained to Tang Zheng. (To be continued.
