Chapter 655: Chapter 3: Barber Shop Conflict

It was around nine in the morning, and the students, who had slept in, crawled out of bed to grab breakfast at a stall not far from the campus. Those without classes went to the Internet cafe to play. Tang Zheng felt somewhat nostalgic; a few months prior, he would have been among them. He bought two egg-filled pancakes, quickly filled his stomach, and then walked into a barber shop.

It was probably due to being Sunday that the business was booming. Four barbers were busy, with six young ladies waiting on chairs. With Tang Zheng’s experience, he could roughly tell from their clothes and conversation that they were first or second-year students.

He sat on the side and picked up a newspaper to kill time. Not even five minutes later, Lu Fan gave him a call.

"Uncle, is Dantai really a special agent? I hired a hacker, who found Mei Jueye’s address. Should I have him eliminated? They should have a lot of lethal means that are normally untraceable, right? After all, it’d be risky to wait until we’re in the game to kill him, unpredictable complications could arise," Lu Fan, who found Mei Jueye to be repulsive, presumed him to be a ticking time bomb.

"Have you become foolish? A cautious person like Dantai would certainly not leak Trojan Room’s information over such a small matter. As for someone insignificant like Mei Jueye, even if he got a few more chances at life, he wouldn’t make much of a difference," Tang Zheng, lowering his voice, warned Little Lu Fan, "You guys need to differentiate between reality and the game. Have you been so immersed in all the killing that you’re starting to become indifferent towards life?"

"Anyone, no matter how insignificant, can become malignant. I always feel that if Mei Jueye went berserk he’d be trouble. At least Chu Baichuan, who acts rashly without thinking, would undoubtedly be at a disadvantage against him," Lu Fan argued with a pout, "I’m just worried about the safety of our team. If you were surrounded on all sides, wouldn’t you prepare too?"

"If Chu Baichuan knew you had such a low opinion of him, he would surely get upset. Hmm, if it were me, I would attach time bombs all over myself. If anyone touched me, we’d all perish together. He is sure to think of such simple solutions. It all depends on the execution," Tang Zheng advised Lu Fan once again, in response to the effort he was putting into a minor individual, "Tell the others not to worry. As long as we don’t help him, he definitely won’t make it. Just struggling to survive will exhaust him, unless he’s foolish enough to seek revenge on society, forsaking his own survival to take everyone else down with him."

"I’m still not entirely reassured. If Dantai won’t make a move, then Bai Guo at least should, right? Invisibility is a godly skill; he could murder someone and no one would be the wiser," Lu Fan, burdened with boredom and billions of assets to spare, found almost nothing else to do but play, "Uncle, I still have over three hundred luxury racing cars from Egypt stored in Alice’s apron that I haven’t gotten rid of. I gave my dad one, and he kept asking me all these questions about it. It was such a nuisance."

"Live a normal life. Don’t get into any further trouble," Tang directed, he then glanced at the female students. Apart from one with big eyes sneaking glances at him, the others were discussing what hairstyle to cut and which teacher’s class is boring.

"All of these cars are smuggling goods. It’s a hassle to deal with them. If my dad’s rivals found out, there’s a good chance they’d use this to attack him, especially since the production factory is untraceable, so they’ve just been rotting away. How annoying. Maybe I should just go up to Wupan Mountain tonight and race those racers. If I crash one, then so be it." Lu Fan’s voice rose with excitement and he immediately started asking the housemaid to handle these matters.

"Diamonds and gold are easier to deal with," Tang felt that the only advantage to the Trojan Room was that after you made it out alive, you at least wouldn’t have to worry about survival. Even a beggar could become a millionaire.

Lu Fan’s topic of conversation constantly changed, now shifting to cakes. He said that his mother sent him a specially-made large cake with a thousand strawberries on top.

Tang Zheng listened quietly, but soon frowned as a girl who was paying started arguing with the barber.

"Didn’t you just say it was thirty? How did it become three hundred? You’re plainly trying to rip us off!" The girl was very angry, her face turned deep red.

"I used the best dye for you, three hundred is far from expensive, and I haven’t even charged you for the haircut yet," the female barber retorted loudly. Evidently used to such situations, she shot an insolent glance at the girl and turned to the six girls who were waiting, "Next please."

Because of the argument, the six girls started to hesitate. They considered changing to another shop. The girl next in line stood up, feeling a bit clueless.

"Hurry up, sit here. I’m really good at this," the female barber wouldn’t let such a business just slip away, so she smiled and grabbed the girl’s hand, pushing her onto the barbers’ chair.

"You’re all liars. Besides, I said I wouldn’t dye it, you insisted because the dye was already mixed. I had no choice, so I did it," the girl was furious and continued to argue. Her companions stood on the side, cheering her on.

"Thirty for a dye job? Is that even possible? Did you leave your brain at home?" The barber was also angered by her incessant complaints and yelled upstairs, "Boss, we have someone refusing to pay for their dye job."

"I’m not doing it." The girl, shrunk in the barber’s chair, tried to stand up but was forcefully held down by the barber’s hand, "Don’t move. You’ll ruin the haircut."

Without any regard for whether the girl agreed or not, the barber, with a swift movement, chopped off a bunch of her hair.
