Chapter 646: Chapter 41 Tang Monk’s Gift (Third Watch, Ten Thousand Words)

The memories of his past life as a Golden Cicada flooded back, awakened by the tears of the Queen of Daughter Country, they rooted in his mind, growing into towering trees.

Tang Monk’s journey-etched face contorted in pain, his usually steadfast features beginning to warp as if unable to bear the torment, he let out a roar to the heavens.

Xu Biyun didn’t notice her tears streaming down, her face filled with anxiety. She lunged towards the queen of Daughter Country again, intent on delivering another beating, but an intimidating aura surged from Tang Monk, flinging her ten meters away like she was caught in a tornado.

The heavy corpse of the horse was swept away by the force, skidding across the big blue stone floor and stopping tens of meters away.

"How could this be?" Xu Biyun looked incredulous. Was this the frail Tang Monk she could slap down with a flick of her hand just moments ago?

The Tang Monk in the Kasaya robe now looked like a venerable monk who had journeyed from the Eastern Tang Dynasty, his face displaying a gentle and compassionate expression. He glanced at Xu Biyun before looking at the severely injured bodies strewn across the temple’s grounds, as well as Tang Zheng fighting the pseudo-monkey.

Under the Tang Monk’s compassionate gaze, Xu Biyun felt a warmth spreading in her chest. Yet, she felt a strange sight as the Monk still carried the unconscious Queen in his arms, painting an odd picture.

"Master? You are awake?" The pseudo-monkey noticed Tang Monk standing in front of the Great Hall, stunned, then hastily used the Ruyi Golden Cudgel to push back Tang Zheng and shot towards his side.

Xu Biyun happened to be in the path of the pseudo-monkey’s trajectory. When he saw her in the way, he swung his Golden Hoop down, intending to smash her into a pulp.

"Wukong, you must not harm others!" Tang Monk chided, his right hand extended to point at the cudgel. A golden light shot out, deflecting the weapon.

"No way, the Sun Monkey isn’t finished yet and now there’s a crazy Tang Monk. We’re done for. This game is over." Lu Fan, pale as death, shouted hoarsely, "That monkey is an imposter. It killed your three disciples."

Lu Fan coughed up blood as he strained his wounded lungs by shouting. Dantai and Xu Liangmao bided their time, waiting for the chance to deliver the final blow.

"Master, are you really awake?" The pseudo-monkey hopped around joyously, running circles around Tang Monk, "We took the True Scripture from Western Heaven Ling Mountain and have been waiting just to restore your memory."

Everyone was bewildered by the pseudo-monkey’s words. Wasn’t he pretending to work for Tang Monk? But the situation changed in the next moment.

The pseudo-monkey moved to Tang Monk’s back and upon seeing the latter’s affectionate gaze at the queen, he flew into a rage. Lifting the Golden Hoop up high, he smashed it down towards Tang Monk. The force created a strong gust of wind, blowing away the dust and pebbles on the ground.

"Watch out!" Lu Fan and Xu Biyun screamed in unison. Despite Tang Monk’s often absurd behavior, they didn’t want to see him die.

Tang Zheng was the first one to rush out. Despite knowing that the chances of saving Tang Monk were slim, he was still willing to give it a shot. But what happened next left everyone in shock.

Tang Monk’s expression was neutral. He raised his right index finger and stopped the Golden Hoop from crashing down onto his head, a mere foot away.

"Die!" The pseudo-monkey snatched back the staff and swung at Tang Monk again. Yet, Tang Monk simply pointed his finger, blocking the attack.

"Amitabha, Wukong, do not persist in senselessness, turn back and you shall find the shore!" Tang Monk’s face remained calm, emitting a golden light as he intoned the Buddha’s name. He appeared both holy and noble, his demeanor radiating compassion for all beings.

"Hmph, die, now that you’ve regained your memory, I’ll devour the Golden Cicada in your heart!" The Sun Monkey relentlessly attacked, his Golden Hoop became a blur of gold as it attempted to smash Tang Monk into a pulp.

Tang Monk remained unmoved. He pointed his finger at the tip of the Golden Hoop, sending it flying out of the pseudo-monkey’s grip and causing the latter to fall back.

"Forgive my rudeness, everyone. I sincerely apologize!" Tang Monk deflected the pseudo-monkey before descending the steps of the Great Hall, and turned to bow apologetically to Tang Zheng and the others.

"You’re too kind!" Almost instinctually, the four individuals present bowed in return, matching Tang Monk’s formality. Tang Monk, surrounded by an aura of Buddha’s Light, had a courteous and refined air that unconsciously prompted politeness from those around him.

"It’s a fake monkey," Lu Fan straightened from his bow and pointed at the encroaching pseudo-monkey, shouting, "Quickly, kill it."

"Young master, do not harbour such murderous intentions!" Tang Monk’s face broke into a warm smile, "Indeed, it is my recalcitrant disciple. It is simply a manifestation of the Six Desires within Wukong."

"I see." Lu Fan nodded, frowning, "But it’s trying to kill you?"

"It will let go of that obsession." Tang Monk turned and looked at the Golden Hoop that Tang Zheng had discarded on the ground. With a wave of his hand, it flew up and shot towards the Six Desires Monkey. Frightened, the monkey waved its Golden Hoop and clashed with the incoming weapon.

"Tang Monk, I will kill you and take the fully awakened Golden Cicada!" The Six Desires Monkey screamed in defiance. Even if it killed the memory-sealed Tang Monk, it would only gain an incomplete Golden Cicada. As a result, it was forced to wait. But the power of the newly awakened Tang Monk greatly surpassed its expectations.
