Chapter 347 - 39 Mutual Utilization

Chapter 347: Chapter 39 Mutual Utilization

Miranda knew if her response was not satisfactory, she could potentially be added to Tang Zheng’s death list, becoming a candidate for abandonment.

"That sounds harsh. I was your companion on the first day, wasn’t I?" Miranda looked at Tang Zheng with a Smile tugging at the corners of her mouth, touching her lips, "Do you want me to bite you again?"

"Get to the point!" Tang Zheng was merely threatening her. It didn’t really matter to him which side Miranda leaned towards. He did consider the idea of killing David and his group, as there were team battles in the Trojan Horse Game. What if they had to face them again next time? Therefore, the best result would be for David’s group to die off entirely, and for him to leave with the highest score. After all, the Trojan Horse didn’t mention that aiding more people could earn more points.

"I might leave a few newbies for you." To reassure Miranda, Tang Zheng reached out and touched her lips, showing a timely display of desire that made Miranda feel like she had control over him.

"Have you ever thought that they might want to kill you?"

Miranda leaned in closer to Tang Zheng, waiting for his response with a smile.

"One must always guard against others," Tang Zheng laughed, "it would be surprising if they didn’t covet my equipment. They just can’t act because of the thousand-point restriction. After all, I won’t make it easy for them by cutting off my hands and feet."

"I don’t know about their abilities, but I can tell you about their effects." Miranda nodded her head, conceding to his point, and then she shared what she had observed.

"Thanks for the information." After hearing her, Tang Zheng turned around to leave, pushing open the room door, but Miranda hugged him from behind.

"Leaving me so soon? That’s heartless, don’t you think?" Miranda bit Tang Zheng through his clothes.

"I need to conserve energy." Tang Zheng grabbed Miranda’s hand.

"I will make him a tool for my survival." Miranda urged, "Hurry up."

...

Tang Zheng and Miranda had been gone for an hour, which made Julia look exceptionally uncomfortable. She wanted to further consolidate her relationship with Tang Zheng, but didn’t expect Miranda to interrupt. Knowing that she and her daughter might have died that night without Tang Zheng’s help, she wanted to keep him in her grasp even more.

The others were exhausted from a day’s work and fell asleep as soon as they hit the bed. They had no energy to care about other people’s gossip. The most important thing was to restore energy to prepare for escape.

Looking at Miranda’s satisfied smile, Tang Zheng heaved a long sigh of relief, if not for his action he might have had to use the ’Sweet Spring’ drink to restore his energy. He stepped out of the room and tried to summon his beetle card, only to be told by the Trojan Horse that it was inappropriate for the time period and was restricted for use. He was instantly filled with frustration.

On the morning of the fourth day, Tang Zheng and David each gave half of their food to the newbies, solving their hunger problems. They then rode the raptors and set off.

"David, you’ve been screwed over. Even if you didn’t share your food, Tang Zheng would have taken care of Julia and Miranda. But if he didn’t share with the others, his prestige would have been reduced. Now thanks to you, Mars, who got food, also has to thank him, since it was his idea to share the food." Leonard whispered on his mount, stealthily stirring up trouble between them.

David’s face turned somewhat unnatural, feeling instantly annoyed. However, what irritated him more was the speed of the team. The newbies, fearing they would be regarded as scouts, moved very slowly, wasting much time and making him anxious.

"Am I supposed to play the bad guy again?" David grumbled, about to speak when he saw Tang Zheng speed up, rushing towards the Teleportation Gate.

"Tang, that’s too dangerous." Miranda didn’t follow Tang Zheng just to become cannon fodder, and she advised him to slow down.

"It’s fine, every second we stay here increases the danger." Tang Zheng was not a reckless person. It would take at most three minutes to get to the Teleportation Gate, where even if they met with Native Cavalry, they could escape in time. By then, destroying the Teleportation Gate would block them.

"Who’s going first?" The group paused before the teleportation gate, again worrying about who should take the lead. David scanned the crowd, finding no one he could trust. He considered holding back Demi and Nicole, sending Jack and Julia to scout ahead, but feared Tang Zheng would protect them.

"I’ll go first." Leonard stepped forward. "To make up for my mistakes, I want to do something for everyone."

The newbies were silent, and David nodded in agreement.

"No!" Lu Fan jumped out and blocked him. "If he destroys the teleportation gate, we will all fail the mission."

The newbies gasped in alarm, hesitantly looking at Leonard. Everyone had abandoned him once, so such concerns were understandable.

"I’m disabled. I won’t survive without your help. I won’t do something as foolish as destroying the gate," said Leonard, his face filled with frustration as if he had been wronged. But deep down, he hated Lu Fan. He did want to leave alone and then destroy the teleportation gate. He hadn’t forgiven these people yet. Plus, he had heard from a conqueror who had died that the fewer survivors that return to the room at the end, the higher the score. More importantly, sometimes the Red Trojan Horse, to avoid total annihilation, would teleport the last severely injured survivor back to the room at the last moment just so he could give the next batch of newbies information about the Trojan Horse Game.

If Tang Zheng and Lu Fan knew how merciful the Red Trojan Horse was, they would definitely take it out on the Silver Trojan for being so wicked. Tang Zheng hadn’t forgotten what happened when he first entered the game and had a bye round with the conquerors.

"Regardless, we must take a gamble." Leonard was eager to clear his name, which only strengthened Lu Fan’s suspicions.

"He doesn’t have a charger." Danny thought he was stating the obvious.

"Then let everyone check his backpack." Lu Fan said casually, a smirk playing at the corners of his mouth. "You’re not going to start talking about human rights, are you?"

"Let’s just send someone else and save time." Robert, recalling Leonard’s past behavior, was beginning to suspect him.

The newbies looked at each other, realizing that none of them were trustworthy, which filled their hearts with despair for the future of the team.

"Let’s move. If we hang around any longer the natives will show up." Tang Zheng yelled, giving Lu Fan a signal. He grabbed the reins, mounted his raptor, and rushed towards the teleportation gate. Lu Fan quickly followed.

"Wait." David attempted to stop them, but it was too late. Tang Zheng was close to the teleportation gate, so David had to chase after them. While Mars and the others were still hesitating, Miranda rushed ahead with Julia not far behind.

After a brief teleportation, Miranda and the others hadn’t even opened their eyes when they were greeted by a downpour. The heavy rain drenched their clothes in an instant.

They had returned to the primordial wilderness of the Cretaceous Period. Rain filled the air, accompanied by flashes of lightning and peals of thunder, the entire panorama being washed by the storm.

"Let’s go back, we can’t stay here." Jack wiped the rain from his face, shouting loudly.

In this harsh environment, they could hardly move forward. But the moment Mars retreated, he was teleported back at high speed.

"There are natives, destroy the teleportation gate quickly." Mars’ face was full of panic, his voice hoarse from shouting.

Tang Zheng immediately dismounted, intending to run towards the teleportation gate, but his feet sank into the muddy grass.

"Damn." Tang Zheng cursed, pulled out his charger, unscrewed it and threw it towards the teleportation gate. The newbies, on the other hand, tried to keep their distance from the gate. Meanwhile, the raptor, not used to the rainy surface, tumbled, throwing its rider.
