Chapter 1548: Chapter 10: Slaughter

"Group Leader Tang..." Ruan Chenghao was about to refuse, but when he heard Tang Zheng reassuring Latif, he immediately shut his mouth, feeling that he had gotten the better deal, "Right, the first hunting targets to appear are probably the weaker ones."

"Idiot, first letting you guys test out the difficulty of the mission and scout the area." Tang Zheng deliberately said so to make Ruan Chenghao feel he had the advantage while also sowing discord between them and the Indonesians.

Such petty tricks may not always be successful, but that’s okay, bit by bit, once the seed of distrust is planted, cracks are easily formed, not to mention that both parties were already mistrustful of each other.

Latif nodded in agreement to the plan, but a trace of suspicion flickered in his eyes, wondering if they had reached some sort of cooperation using abilities like mental telepathy while he wasn’t paying attention?

"Qing Shuang, infiltrate the network, find that prey." Tang Zheng took a deep breath to suppress his concern for An Xiuru, "Brother Lin, policewoman, protect him."

Gu Xueqi stopped a few passersby to ask questions. As a pretty girl, there was hardly any man who could resist her smile, and the Vietnamese natives eagerly told her everything she wanted to know.

"What’s going on?" Lu Fan saw the school beauty with a grave expression and was somewhat surprised, for she was the type who remained unflappable even if the sky fell.

"The time here is the same as in our real world."

"So what?" An Indonesian man didn’t understand, his figure was thin and black, but very robust, his neck muscles visibly strong.

"She means that maybe we haven’t entered the Theme World but are still in reality." Dong Zixuan rolled her eyes at these Indonesians, probably because she was from a police background, she looked down on them.

"It could also be a parallel world." A Vietnamese woman was trimming her nails with a dagger, completely unconcerned, being a Second-order English agent, she was overly confident.

"National leaders, recent major international events, they’re all the same as in reality." Gu Xueqi was a prudent person and naturally wouldn’t make a judgment based solely on time, "We can have Brother Shen check the news, or hack into the police system to check the registry!"

"Qing Shuang, did you hear that? Do as instructed." Tang Zheng tapped on his Throat Microphone, his face quite somber.

Clearly having never experienced the collapse of a Theme World, the Vietnamese and Indonesians scoffed at Gu Xueqi’s deduction.

"A bunch of pathetic cowards scared stiff." The conceited Ruan Chenghao thought the Chinese were no threat, unaware that Lu Fan was also casting a contemptuous glance at them.

"They don’t even send out scouts; should I say they’re bold and audacious, or just plain stupid?" Dantai stood inside a Shop, observing these foreign helpers through the Glass.

Shen Qingshuang crouched by the Table and, after connecting to the network using her Ability, began the infiltration, accompanied by the Old Soldier who was interrogating the shopkeeper.

"Tang Zheng, we’ve got trouble, this appears to be the real world; your profiles are spot on." Dantai gasped upon seeing the data on the screen, "Could it be that this world is also about to collapse?"

"Target located, a worker." Shen Qingshuang reported a home address.

The heavy-hearted Conquerors set out, led by Ruan Chenghao, the Local snake, and in twenty minutes arrived at a dilapidated building, its peeling walls revealing the grey bricks beneath, suggesting over twenty years of history.

All fifteen main forces members took out their Rifles and entered the building, traversing the narrow corridors gracefully, arriving undetected at the third floor.

Three, two, one!

It was the Vietnamese’s turn to breach. After completing the countdown gesture, with a sudden charge, they burst through the rust-coated Anti-theft door.

Bang, with a loud noise, the Trojan Squad entered gun-first, the infrared laser sights on their firearms casting red lines of light.

As experienced Conquerors, they didn’t need instructions from the Group Leader to split into several small teams and target the rooms.

Men’s cursing and women’s screams erupted from a bedroom, quickly turning into cries of agony, a clear sign someone had taken action.

"Two Group Leaders, instruct your Group Members not to Open fire." With no Combat erupting, Tang Zheng asked the Group Leaders to restrain their men and gather as much information as possible.

Latif and Ruan Chenghao were not foolish; they quickly spoke up to prevent their subordinates from hastily killing the target.

The living room was cramped, aside from the old Sofa and an outdated 23-inch color Television, it was just clothes thrown in disarray.

The Indonesians were visibly excited, grabbing a man and a woman by the hair, dragging them out of the bedroom. Even without resistance from the Captives, they still got kicked several times.

More than a dozen dark Gun muzzles pointed at the man only wearing shorts, his hands raised over his head, his face full of Panic, begging for mercy.

The woman was also only in underpants, now huddling with arms crossed over her chest, frightened into a ball, an Indonesian laughed lecherously, stealing a few opportunistic gropes.

"Ordinary people?" Tang Zheng furrowed his brows as he watched Dantai interrogate this wretched insect.

"Group Leader Tang, this is a 72 Hours Limited Task, we’ve already wasted a lot of time, just kill him and find the next target." Ruan Chenghao felt these Chinese were being unnecessary, also reminding Tang Zheng that this prey was his.

Bang, without waiting for Tang Zheng’s answer, Dantai aimed the Gun at the target’s Skull and blasted away his head with a bullet.

"What are you doing? Didn’t we agree that the first target was ours?" Ruan Chenghao’s face was one of astonishment, followed by anger. The other party acted too quickly for him to intervene.

"Sorry, it was a misfire, I just meant to threaten him," Dantai shrugged helplessly with an expression of frustration.

The Vietnamese would never believe such a ghost story; this guy is clearly Warhammer’s vice Group Leader, at least English first-class level, there’s no way he would make such a low-level mistake.

"Group Leader Tang, I need an explanation," Ruan Chenghao said sternly, his voice choked with anger.

"Didn’t I say it was a misfire? Alright, we’ll give you the third target, is that satisfactory?" Tang Zheng waved his hand impatiently, "Let’s go."

"Why not the second one?" the dagger woman questioned.

"The second one belongs to Group Leader Latif, if you want it, go negotiate with him." Tang Zheng walked out the door, mentally snorting ’idiot’—if the second one is also this weak, we’ll snatch it without any error.

The dagger woman looked at the woman violated by the Indonesian, raised the muzzle of her gun, and pulled the trigger, a volley of bullets riddling her chest.

The Vietnamese didn’t show any unusual expression; they have no intention of showing mercy just because the woman is a compatriot.

"Tsk, it seems like they’re killing innocent people!" Yu Deye glanced back, not out of concern for others, but wondering if the woman would score any points.

"Who cares, the dead are Vietnamese anyway." Dong Zixuan was neither timid nor afraid of wasting energy, always rushing to the front in everything she did.

"Oh, I didn’t see it coming, you’re quite the angry youth!" Yu Deye gave her a look, signaling her to be mindful of their influence; Conquerors have good hearing, at this distance, even a hushed voice could be overheard.

"Hmph, let them return the territories they’ve occupied in the South China Sea, then wait for my sympathy!" The policewoman had her reasons for being angry; she had a distant relative who had fought in the self-defense counterattack against Vietnam and lost both legs on the Laoshan Battlefield.

Tang Zheng and Dantai didn’t silence the policewoman, as for the Vietnamese, what does it matter if they heard? Among these guys, the most formidable was just that ’English third-order’ Group Leader; the rest weren’t worth worrying about.

"Why are you two normally cautious guys not speaking?" Dong Zixuan was puzzled, the more Tang Zheng and Dantai kept silent, the more she felt danger looming.

"Haven’t you figured it out yet? They are itching for the Vietnamese to start something, strike first, then wipe them out," Yu Deye licked the corner of his lips, growing somewhat impatient as well.

The policewoman rolled her eyes at Yu Deye; speaking so bluntly meant the other party would surely be on their guard, and as she turned to look, sure enough, the expressions of the Vietnamese had changed.

The Indonesians remained expressionless, almost laughing to themselves, wishing they would start the battle immediately so he could reap the benefits.

"Yu Deye is really cooperative." Tang Zheng and Dantai exchanged a glance, understanding each other’s thoughts; they wanted this effect exactly because once the other side has reservations, they would be hesitant in their actions, the more they consider, the more they have to worry about.

This situation would also make the scheming Indonesians temporarily withdraw from the struggle.

Latif was originally thinking of allying with the Vietnamese to counter the Chinese team, given their superior strength, but after hearing this, he decided to hold off, ready to let the two teams fight it out first.

Following the death of the target, a new target appeared on the wristwatch screen a minute later.

Having Shen Qingshuang, the hacker, it was as easy as flipping one’s hand to lock onto the prey through the network and satellites.

This was a residential area on the outskirts of the city, full of single-story houses, constructed with no apparent plan, and looking chaotically arranged.

Dark clouds covered the moon, casting large shadows; fortunately, it was night, otherwise, such a large group entering the neighborhood would surely attract attention.

"This is the one!" Standing in front of a house, the Indonesians kicked the door in, smashing it and rushing inside.

More than twenty newbies, fearing these people would hog all the action, squeezed into the house without waiting for orders, aiming to hunt down the target. Many more were still outside, craning their necks to watch.

A family of five was having dinner, startled by these sudden intruders; the mother pulled the two children behind her while the father and elder son stood up, tightly holding chairs, ready to fight back, though their legs were trembling.

"Pretty courageous," Yu Deye whistled teasingly; ordinary people scared out of their wits upon seeing so many armed strangers.

Before the father could speak, the Indonesian swung the butt of his gun, overturning them; the wife screamed and rushed over, lying on top of him to shield him.

The children’s cries immediately filled the living room, adding to the chaos.

"Get out of the way!" The skinny, dark-skinned man extended his thigh, kicking a little boy out, the force so great that the child was knocked unconscious.

Seeing her child hurt, the woman went berserk, lunging at the skinny, dark-skinned man.

With a slap, the skinny man struck the woman’s face, flinging her aside, then drew a silencer-fitted handgun and aimed at her.

Pop, pop—bullets struck the woman’s skull, and her shattered head caused the newbies to shudder, involuntarily turning their heads away, unable to watch any longer.

The skinny man fired the remaining bullets into the woman’s body, watching the corpse convulse reflexively, he laughed triumphantly. (To be continued.
