Chapter 1500: Chapter 88: Fame Spreads
"Fuck!" Warcraft Brother gaped at the devastated Long Street, his group members equally dumbfounded. Were the Warhammer Squad’s area of effect attacks always this brutally fierce?
"Boss Tang, you get to eat meat, how about leaving some soup for us?" Fu Tianxiao teased Tang Zheng, but his heart was filled with bitterness.
"We’ve risen, quick, look, our ranking has gone up!" Lu Fan sat cross-legged on the roof of the car and excitedly reported to Tang Zheng after glancing at his wristwatch.
Led by Li Xinlan, the group attackers soared in rank, shooting up to the first page.
These women had utterly devastated the 800-meter Long Street, easily slaughtering no less than two thousand mutated creatures. Without such accomplishments, it would have truly been a ghostly sight.
"Don’t listen, keep going!" Dantai waved his hand, signaling the war chariot to continue on its path.
"Boss, what are we going to do? Following them, we won’t even be able to pick up a fart, right?" A group member complained with a gloomy face to Warcraft Brother, "We might as well go solo!"
"It’s more dangerous to split up." Wei Xiangnan suggested, "Let’s follow them a bit longer!"
"But that’s better than not getting any points at all, right?" A group member whined, "These guys are too ruthless. Look, they show no signs of holding back and have started another sweep, slaughtering down the street."
The war chariot’s engine roared as it thundered forward.
The hiding Giant Soldiers, seeing the enemy, naturally rushed out, and with the catalyzed sound waves turning more citizens into mutated creatures and launching attacks, were promptly slaughtered before they could even get close.
"Boss Tang, for the sake of our Party and State, leave a bit of soup for your brothers, huh?" Warcraft Brother jabbed with his sharp tongue again, though this time with much more helplessness.
Everyone tried to deter him from potentially worsening their situation with their nagging, even Wang Fang, who always supported Tang Zheng, couldn’t help but speak out. There was no other way; seeing others’ scores skyrocketing, growing further away, while her own score remained unchanged, she was also anxious.
"Just now I told those on the Hero Level to stop, but you all turned a deaf ear and played happily, didn’t you? Keep killing, let’s see how great you are?" Dantai, speaking sarcastically for once, surprised Tang Zheng and everyone else in the car turned their gaze towards him.
"Don’t look at me like that, I’m a normal person too. It’s normal to curse, right?" Dantai shrugged his shoulders, "Keep going, you know what to do without me telling you, right?"
Thus, the firepower of the Warhammer Squad intensified, and several ’map cannons’ were unleashed without any reservation, clearing everything in sight as if they intended to level the whole area.
"Let the storm rage more fiercely!" Lu Fan shouted, quoting from Gorky’s ’The Seagull’, intentionally mocking Warcraft Brother and his companions.
Even the tough guys were on the verge of tears this time. He really wanted to launch his ultimate ability to save face, but he knew he couldn’t do that because he still had to save his strength for the big battle later on.
"Boss Tang, if you’re going to slay the trash mobs, why not head to Central Park? Shouldn’t there be more there?" Warcraft Brother couldn’t sit still any longer, and he suggested a new tactic.
"Keep making rounds. Qing Shuang, release your Mechanical Dragonflies and see where there’s a greater concentration of Giant Soldiers," Tang Zheng steered away from the topic without intending to explain.
"Vice-Leader Dantai, won’t you say something?" Warcraft Brother was truly miserable.
"Haven’t you seen the points table? The scores of both the Conquerors of War King and Bingxu’s teams remain unchanged, and some other strong teams have also seen very little increase," Dantai opened the international channel to explain to everyone, "According to previous estimates, they should have already reached Central Park and are waiting to assemble. The growth rate of their points indicates that there aren’t many Giant Soldiers there, or perhaps there are many, but not enough for those strong teams to divide among themselves. So, let’s go around the periphery first and kill the weaker creatures."
"Motherfucker, you’re really cunning!" The tough guy spat, least fond of dealing with such people.
"By the way, let me clarify something. My full name is Dantai Zongqi!" Dantai’s clear voice entered everyone’s ears, "I’m not surnamed Dantai!"
Listening to the laughter from the communicator, Warcraft Brother blushed from embarrassment, wishing he could bury himself in a hole.
The war chariot surged ahead at high speed, clearing the mutated creatures, with more powerful monsters beginning to emerge. To avoid wasting time, the Hero-Level fighters like Tang Zheng started taking action, almost able to kill with a single shot.
A Trojan Squad was taking cover in a hotel lobby, exchanging fire with the Giant Soldiers on the street, when they saw lightning streaking across the sky far away.
The front of the hotel illuminated with a blue-white glow; just as the lightning vanished, an ice layer began to spread, and that wasn’t all—in the next moment, sand dust eroded everything in its path.
"Holy shit, what’s going on?" Watching the mutated creatures across the street being instantly killed, and two war chariots driving by, the Group Leader cursed, "Stealing mobs? Are you looking for death?"
Lu Fan stood atop the war chariot, hearing the complaints and looking towards the hotel, then gave a vigorous middle finger.
"Group Leader, fuck their mothers." A group member was indignant, the mutated creatures posed no threat to them, and they had only been using rifles to slowly take them out, not expecting someone else to beat them to it.
"You go do it then, haven’t you heard that team battles aren’t allowed?" The Group Leader complained, but in his heart he cursed idiots, without noticing their attack patterns, even if team battles were allowed, their squad was clearly no match for them.
There’s no shortage of smart people in this world, and certainly among Conquerors thrusted into life-and-death battles, several teams were also killing mutated beings on the outskirts for points. They even had disputes over who got to kill a creature, but soon they stopped arguing, all struck dumb as they watched the Long Street.
Lightning, sandstorms, ice and snow, magma, and the rampant energy swept through, cleaning the area with maximum intensity, leaving not a single complete corpse of a mutated creature behind.
"Fuck, do you guys have no shame? Those were our monsters to kill!"
"If you’re capable, why don’t you go rob it? If you can’t do it, then stop blowing hot air." This was the schadenfreude of those weak and unable to rob, who watched others being robbed by even more formidable foes.
"Hey, what’s going on with you guys?" A group leader accessed the International Rescue Channel, questioning the Warhammer Squad.
Dantai couldn’t be bothered to respond and remained calmly seated as if fishing.
Before long, news of the Warhammer Squad’s ’disturbance’ had spread to most of the teams, and everyone became aware that a very fierce team was clearing monsters in a lawless sweep.
"Have these guys gone mad? Consuming life energy so unrestrainedly, what are they going to do later?"
"Who knows? Maybe their brains got fried. But the Warhammer Squad is pretty imposing. How many people did they offend now? Hehe, they’ll have a tough time later."
"Since they dare to do it, they must not be afraid."
Only a few people could guess the intentions of the Warhammer Squad, but watching their clearing strength, even the low-ranking Conquerors with firepower not much less than some groups’ main forces were shocked.
The Warhammer Squad’s points began to crazily increase. As of now, they have surpassed the LA Demon Night Saints and Moscow’s Disbelievers, ascending to the first position.
In the individual rankings, Li Xinlan and the three others rocketed to the top four positions.
This is a huge advantage. At least they had a high chance of avoiding erasure. Some Conquerors were envious but dared not to unleash their full firepower, as they needed to save strength for the subsequent battle.
The wild performance of the Warhammer Squad made all the teams start inquiring about their name. The guys who guessed their tactical purpose, eager to showcase their IQ, spread the word and low-ranking Conquerors began envying Li Xinlan’s group.
"Truly the quintessential good guy, very considerate of the team members!"
If it weren’t for the non-transferability of the Trojan Room, many people would’ve wanted to follow Tang Zheng.
"Leader Tang, please restrain yourself a bit." Natasha’s voice sounded, chiding Tang Zheng.
"It’s none of your damn business." Pang Meiqin cursed back, not caring whether the other party was a strong fighter or not.
Through the communicator, a surprised gasp was heard, clearly many were eavesdropping. Seeing that the Warhammer Squad did not give Natasha face, they admired them but also sneered, waiting for their misfortune.
"Please stop your actions." Natasha warned.
"Forget it, Natasha, go command the battle." The War King stopped his subordinate, "Chinese lad, well done, and all you bastards, can’t rob a Mutated Creature yourself and find someone else to do it, how do you call yourself a man? I’m embarrassed for you!"
"Tang Zheng, a very nice tactic." Bingxu suddenly spoke up, praising as well.
"Hey, Bingxu, you’re not thinking of using it too, are you? Stop the nonsense, everyone’s almost here, time to start the attack. Chinese lad, quickly come over, what’s the point of killing small fries, I’m waiting to see your performance in the BOSS battle."
The Conquerors were originally wondering who had the guts to interrupt the War King, but when they heard it was Bingxu, they were shocked.
"What’s the background of this Warhammer Squad?" More than one group leader wondered, eyeing their off-the-charts team member count, they all wanted to meet the legendary good person Tang.
"Let’s go, to Central Park." Upon seeing the points of Bingxu and the War King’s team start to change, Dantai issued a new order.
"Thank heavens, have you finally stopped killing?" The Warcraft brother was tearfully relieved, and other small teams also clapped to celebrate. They were not strong enough to attack the BOSS, only good for cannon fodder, or opportunists, picking off the weaker soldiers.
Of course, such teams were rare, having experienced team annihilation, frightened out of their wits, losing their courage. Many more entered Central Park and began the great battle.
The park at night had lost its dark and silent atmosphere, now filled with the sounds of guns and close combat. Seeing the fallen statue of General Sherman, Dantai knew the team had officially entered Central Park’s range.
"You attack from the western entrance." Natasha assigned the mission.
"Could she be seeking personal revenge?" Lu Fan was cautious. "Shouldn’t we choose our own spot?"
"Go to the western side."
Dantai negated, at such a moment it was Warhammer Squad’s time to shine, no matter the intention, they couldn’t cower.
The war chariot hadn’t even arrived when sounds of energy explosions were already heard. In the dense forest, huge Mutated Beasts were crawling out from the entrance, fiercely battling with more than a dozen Trojan Squads.
Boom, the leaves mixed with soil, sprinkling down like heavy rain.
True to being an experienced team, they didn’t rush to a strong attack but probed the attacking methods of the Mutated Beasts.
"Ruan Feifei, Zixuan, strike with full force!"
Following Dantai’s command, lightning and magma once again raged, engulfing the Mutated Beasts. (To be continued. If you like this work, welcome to Qidian to vote for recommendation and monthly tickets, your support is my biggest motivation.)
