Chapter 1479 - 67: The Mutated Conquerors

Chapter 1479: Chapter 67: The Mutated Conquerors

Tang Zheng swung his curved knife, chopping a mutated creature that leapt at him into two halves. Fragments of the corpse flew past him on both sides, smashing onto the carriage and creating a bloody mural.

In less than thirty seconds, the mutated creatures in the carriage were almost entirely slaughtered, bringing some stability.

"Be careful, they’re not dead yet." Dong Zixuan fired her Thunderstorm rifle at a pile of rotten flesh on the ground, accidentally breaking the floor and revealing the flashing train tracks below.

No one blamed the policewoman; they all stared at the squirming rotten flesh.

Under the catalysis of the mitochondria, they hadn’t completely died; instead, they were gathering together and slowly forming a new monster.

Mitochondria release stored energy, control, and transform the host, all of which require time. Hence, the longer it drags on, the higher the evolutionary level of the mutated creature will be, making it increasingly hard to kill.

"Xin Lan, use ice!" Tang Zheng stopped Xu Biyun who wanted to use her rifle, and requested the lady to act.

The inside of the carriage was immediately frozen, enveloping everything in a white frost, as if confined within an ice cabinet.

The assembling speed of the newly forming monster’s flesh chunks slowed down, then quieted down completely.

Lu Fan, holding a pepper grinder, turned the lump of ice into icy fragments.

The communicators buzzed with chaotic noises; clearly, the entire Trojan Squad had been attacked. From here, they could also see every carriage in disarray, blood splattering vividly red.

"Go secure the connectors on both sides, no need to assist." Dantai instructed before starting to call for status updates from all teams.

"Natasha, we’ve been attacked." Zhu Kefu, who had been distracted, connected his communicator and said, "What? You too? So what does Bapulov say?"

Zirrra, the electromagnetic noise buzzed a few times, then a rough voice followed.

"Turn on the speaker, I’ll explain to everyone." Bapulov didn’t want to repeat himself. "There’s an issue with the mitochondria, it seems to have gained self-awareness. Known attack methods include spontaneous combustion, self-destruction, mutation, and many different mutation traits. However, due to lack of intelligence, it’s hard to make detailed judgments."

"Is what he said reliable?" Lu Fan poked Zhu Kefu’s leg with Alice’s kitchen knife, asking quietly.

"Definitely, his nickname is ’Genetic Magician,’ deeply knowledgeable in biochemical, pharmaceutical, and cellular fields. Before entering the Trojan Room, he was the chief pharmaceutical expert at GlaxoSmithKline Company." Zhu Kefu squatted down to whisper to Fanfan.

"Is GlaxoSmithKline famous?" Sha Ou mocked, envious of these elites as a commoner who struggled daily for meals.

"It’s one of the top ten pharmaceutical companies in the world, owning countless patents," Wei Binbai, who had previous experience in pharmaceutical sales, was familiar with this, "Stop talking, listen carefully."

"The better the host’s physique, the stronger the mutated creature it becomes after being catalyzed by mitochondria. This mutation is unpredictable, just like the world never having two identical leaves. Each mutated creature will be different, hence they may have additional attack methods. Of course, if the host is weak, it won’t withstand the power released by the mitochondria and will die directly."

Bapulov’s statement left the Conquerors solemn, meaning that the utilization of intelligence had decreased, and every enemy encountered had to be treated as an unknown monster, undoubtedly requiring a huge consumption of energy.

"Also, the mitochondria seem to be attempting to control the expression state of genes, report complete. If there are any new findings, I will notify the whole team."

Bapulov ended the communication, hurrying to research the sample, analyze the mitochondria, and determine the cause of all this.

"Requesting support, we’ve run into big trouble." Yue Jing, with a gloomy face, roared into the communicator, their luck was awful, having encountered a formidable mutated creature.

"Captain Tang, please help us!" Fu Tianxiao begged, lacking the confidence of a true Conqueror.

After the Trojan Squads had dealt with the monsters, they began moving toward Tang Zheng’s carriage.

Boom, boom, explosive sounds erupted from Yue Jing’s carriage with flames igniting, belching black smoke that poured into subsequent carriages, causing extreme irritation.

The entire Subway shook under the impact, the wall of the train cracked, scraping against the tunnel walls, and sparks flew profusely.

"What should we do?" Dong Zixuan covered her ears, as large sections of the train twisted irregularly during the battle between the Conquerors and the mutated creatures, now grating against the ground and train tracks, making a deafening noise.

"All teams, be careful not to damage the train body," Tang Zheng shouted into the communicator.

"Never mind them. Yue Jing is, after all, the Group Leader, surely he can kill the mutated creature. He just doesn’t want to waste life energy," Yu Deye always speculated about others maliciously, but Dantai indeed had no intent to assist him.

"Do you feel it? The train is speeding up." Lu Fan gripped his seat, watching the tunnel wall lights flash by, alerting everyone.

"Teams near the train’s head, take action to slow down the Subway," commanded Dantai, "Don’t gather together, split into two temporary teams, be careful not to get wiped out by the enemy."

"Are you all alright?" Wang Fang led her team over, greeting Tang Zheng.

"Captain Tang, hello, this is my Group Leader." The spiky-haired man was subservient, followed by seven companions, five men and two women.

"Get out of the way, Daimyo Tang is well-known, no need for introductions!" a man pushed aside the explosion head and walked up to Tang Zheng, extending his hand, "I am—"

The man’s introduction was abruptly cut off as he roared out, clutching his itchy cheeks leaving deep bloodstains, and his upper body suddenly swelled.

The Conquerors were shocked by this scene and collectively stepped back.

The Warhammer Squad sprang into action; most rushed towards the Mutated Creature, others were casting abilities on the spot. Even Little Lu Fan was shooting with a Pepper Grinder.

The burning pepper left black burn marks on the Mutated Creature.

Tang Zheng entered Hero Mode and unleashed the Gravity Well.

Bang, the Mutated Creature that swung its claw towards Tang Zheng’s head was smashed onto the ground, its skull grazed the floor, and flesh flew due to the immense force.

Tang Zheng swung his Curved Knife, chopping off the upper body of the Mutated Creature. Xin Lan rushed over to freeze him, and the Time-space Blackfish appeared, fiercely biting.

Bang, with all his strength, Tang Zheng kicked the man, breaking him into pieces of ice scattered all over the ground.

Seeing the man’s tragic state, Warcraft Bro remained silent, a horrifying thought left in his mind.

"Even Conquerors can’t be exempt from mutation?" Wang Fang revealed a wry smile.

This statement soured everyone’s faces, signifying that they too faced the danger of mutation, unforeseeable and unstoppable. A comrade one moment might become a fearsome enemy the next—and catalyzed by their strong physiques, their destructive power would only be greater.

"Alert, Mitochondria are uncontrollable, even for Conquerors. Although the probabilities are slim, there is still a possibility of alterations," Natasha’s anxious voice rang out, clearly they too had encountered similar attacks.

Boom, another carriage exploded, the energy flow shattered the wall of the car, causing severe shaking in the Subway. Tang Zheng, unaffected by gravity, remained still while everyone else had to grab onto things to stay upright.

"Mutation has occurred; our comrades have mutated and are attacking us," shouted a Conqueror through the Communicator, the situation turning grave.

"Move, to the train head!" Tang Zheng sprinted, running through bloody carriages, with the Conquerors close behind.

Bang, the middle section of a carriage suddenly filled with bloating Flesh Walls, bursting through the car windows and rapidly spreading, threatening to engulf the entire Subway train.

"How disgusting," Lu Fan felt nauseous, seeing the flesh-like leavened agents, soft and covered in mucus resembling bread, filled the entire tunnel.

The Flesh Walls spread, growing eyes at the front, and wherever they saw Humans in the carriages, they would corrode the car wall to infiltrate and devour.

"Everyone, attack with full force!"

Following Tang Zheng’s command, the Conquerors unleashed their fiercest attacks. The Flesh Wall was cleared over a large area, and several carriages were also blasted into scrap metal.

The Subway finally couldn’t endure the torment and split into two parts.

Ruan Feifeiz’s lightning tore through the dim tunnel, its azure brilliance spectacular, each burst stripping the fatty flesh, splattering everywhere.

The Flesh Lumps writhed, still coalescing while the tunnel resembled an intestine, completely covered in Flesh Walls, with its corrosive mucus falling to digest the Conquerors.

Boom, the ground cracked open, hot lava rolled out, followed by the foul smell of burning fat.

"Can’t you stop using fire? It’s disgusting, let Xin Lan use ice!" Yu Deye covered his nose, complaining to the policewoman, "Do you want us to be smoked to death?"

"No need, old Wei, it’s your turn. So much meat is a great supplement for your Pet," Queen Mu remained calm, she had to consider future battles and conserve the Warhammer Squad’s energy.

"No problem." Wei Binbai snapped his fingers, shooting a green spot that immediately grew into a bright plant upon touching the flesh. The green vines, like leeches thirsting for blood, penetrated the Flesh Lumps and began to draw nutrients.

The activity of the Flesh Lumps visibly decreased, becoming dry, shriveled, and even some parts turned directly into powder.

"Continue!" Tang Zheng activated the Gravity Barrier, charging through, then jumped out from the broken carriage, chasing the front of the train where Yue Jing and his group were temporarily regrouping, battling the Mutated Creature, the entire tunnel flickered with intermittent darkness, clearly affected by the Power System.

Zizzla, in less than a dozen seconds, it completely darkened, even the inherently fearful nature of women among the Conquerors couldn’t change, causing several girls to scream out in fear.

Tang Zheng twisted on the Tactical Flashlight, casting a white beam of light in the tunnel.

"Amitabha, may everything go smoothly!" Warcraft Bro made a cross sign on his chest, praying to the gods.

"Group Leader, if you’re crossing, you should be praying to Jesus," Wei Xiangnan tugged at Warcraft Bro’s sleeve, reminding, "For the Buddha, you should place hands together."

"It’s okay, they’re all gods. Sincerity matters, not the form," Warcraft Bro was a bit embarrassed, but his adaptability was good, so he found an excuse and brushed it off. (To be continued.
