Chapter 1431: Chapter 20 Speech (2nd Update)

Tang Zheng’s dominance, the horror of the Warhammer Team’s numbers, and always being passive in negotiations, led by the nose, made the members of Yue Jing’s group very uncomfortable. They felt the atmosphere in the Command Center was very oppressive and had wanted to leave for a while.

Hearing these words, Nose Ring, who had been keeping his anger bottled up and dared not vent it on the Warhammer Team, was the first to rush out of the room and into the tunnel, his gaze sweeping over the newbies.

The newbies, seeing the fierce-looking Nose Ring, all avoided his gaze.

"You, stand up," Nose Ring ordered a muscular man, barking out a command.

The man was no coward, and though he looked puzzled, he obediently got up, but he clearly underestimated Nose Ring’s patience.

"Dilly-dallying, looking for death, are you!" Nose Ring’s right leg swung up, and his foot kicked the man in the stomach.

Bang, the man was thrust against the wall by the force, vomited a large amount of stomach acid, clutching his stomach, bent over, and collapsed on the ground, his body convulsively twitching.

Nose Ring’s wrathful strike had all but taken half the man’s life, and you could say he was just unlucky for being about the same height as Tang Zheng.

Buzz, when the newbies saw Nose Ring’s violence, they instantly spread to either side, leaving an empty space.

"Looking at what? All of you, heads down!" Nose Ring bellowed, reaching out and grabbing a female newbie, his fist poised to strike.

"I’m not from your group!" the woman screamed in terror, her face draining of color as she yelled at Tang Zheng, "Group Leader, save me."

Nose Ring was now caught between a rock and a hard place. Not to hit her would be showing fear of Tang Zheng, but to strike would be to provoke a conflict for which he’d definitely pay dearly; the people from the Warhammer Team were surely not saints or nuns.

"Impulse won’t solve problems," Dantai said indifferently about the abuse of the newbies, taking the opportunity to tarnish their image with some negative words.

"Let her go!" Dong Zixuan, always the righteous policewoman, obviously wouldn’t stand by and watch Nose Ring’s cruelty.

"What’s all this fuss? Let her go!" Fu Tianxiao persuaded, not wanting to strain relations with the Warhammer Team, but these words only made her seem more like a traitor to the Real Madrid fans.

Xiaobai was nearly furious.

"You, you, and you three, go on the mission with Brother Guoqiang," Nose Ring let go of the woman, selecting five sturdy-looking men in a huff.

"What mission?" one man asked, narrowly avoiding a slap.

"What’s with all the pointless questions? Do what you’re told, or get out of the team," Bai Guoqiang, the Real Madrid fan, stood out, a dark look on his face, ready to intimidate the newbies so as to more easily command them in the future.

"Then why aren’t they picked?" A mature-looking man in a suit adjusted his glasses and asked Bai Guoqiang, "We’re not afraid to die, but surely there should be a convincing reason, right?"

Bai Guoqiang’s lips moved, but he couldn’t speak, embarrassingly at a loss for words. Could he admit it was due to the shortage of their own men that they were selecting newbies as substitutes? That would be too shameful.

"This is cooperation, they provided two extra Conquerors, and we are providing five newbies," Fu Tianxiao had to smooth things over, seeing that the newbies were dissatisfied.

The newbies from the Warhammer Team felt a sudden sense of security upon hearing this.

"Then why don’t we provide more Conquerors? Newbies are not accustomed to combat; they’ll die out there, won’t they?" The man in the suit, a lawyer by profession, would not easily be outdone in an argument.

"This was decided by the two Group Leaders," Bai Guoqiang decided to let Tang Zheng become the scapegoat.

"Humph, even if you had ten days, you wouldn’t grow. In the end, it’s your fate to die in a foreign land," Xiaobai complained, speaking without restraint and igniting the indignation of the newbies.

"Group Leader, is this really the case?" The shocked newbies all turned towards Tang Zheng, while Yue Jing, standing beside him, was outright ignored.

Yue Jing felt as though he’d been slapped in the face; if his skin weren’t so dark, the blush of shame would have been unmistakable.

"Yes, there’s an eighty percent death rate!" Tang Zheng nodded, and the newbies became noisy once again, chattering amongst themselves. Having just witnessed death, they didn’t doubt his words as much as they might have before.

"So that’s how it is. I thought Tang Zheng allowing them to pick newbies was just his excessively kind nature acting up again. Turns out he’s waiting for them to fall into the pit," Ruan Feifei suddenly understood, looking at the newbies’ attitudes. Though still not daring to rebel, their sense of belonging had completely plummeted.

"Impressive!" Wei Binbai once again raised his estimation of Tang Zheng, turning to Mu Nianqi, "Now I understand why you’re willing to stoop to being beneath him."

Natural Stupid was puzzled, still not quite understanding what was happening, but as long as her brother-in-law was awesome, that was all that mattered.

After the newbies discussed and vented for about ten seconds, Tang Zheng raised his hands, signaling them to be quiet.

The tunnel fell silent immediately, and all the newbies’ eyes were on Tang Zheng, like lambs waiting for their salvation.

"Some of you will die, but some will also become Conquerors like us. How many years would it take for you to become a billionaire? To enjoy a carefree life without worrying about everyday trivialities?" Tang Zheng’s voice was slightly magnetic, filled with seductive power, "But for Conquerors, everyone is a billionaire. Money, beauty, status, these things you desperately pursue, they no longer care about. They desire a healthier body, a longer life."

"This is impossible," the man in the suit challenged.

Tang Zheng snapped his fingers, and the female Musketeer appeared, followed by her disappearance.

"See that? This isn’t magic, it’s ability. Once you meet our assessment criteria, you’ll stand out from the newbies and become teammates we can trust, then you’ll have this kind of magical power."

"Everyone, listen to me!" Yue Jing knew he could no longer let Tang Zheng continue, otherwise the newbies’ hearts would all be lost; but when he opened his mouth, no one listened, directly drowned by a barrage of noisy questions.

"How do we become one of your teammates? What are the conditions?"

"How do we acquire that ability?"

"Shut up!" Overwhelmed by the rabble, Yue Jing shouted, finally quelling all the questions, but just as the tunnel fell silent for a moment, the man in the suit seized the opportunity to speak up.

"But we will die! The elimination rate is too high." The man in the suit was also using this as a way to show off himself, which is what competition is all about—continually showcasing your highlights.

Tang Zheng saw through the man in the suit’s shrewdness and sent him an approving glance.

The man in the suit instantly understood and got a bit excited, knowing he had moved one step closer than the others.

"Heh, this guy in the suit has a pretty sharp mind!" Wei Binbai sneered; Tang Zheng’s ability to use people was truly impressive.

"This guy is pretty cunning, too!" Yu Deye looked down on Tang Zheng.

"If you keep badmouthing Tang Zheng, watch out, we’ll turn against you!" Xu Liangmao warned Yu Deye, not intimidated in the slightest by his lower rank.

"Tsk tsk, I didn’t see that coming; the kid has quite high prestige within the team," Wei Binbai laughed. "Sister Mu, I bet you wouldn’t be able to grab the group leader position even if you wanted to, right?"

"Is there such a thing as a free lunch in the world?" Tang Zheng retorted, "Life is a battle. What you can’t get in a lifetime or even several lifetimes can be resolved in today’s world in just fifteen days. Don’t you want to take that gamble? Do you really want to live a life as insignificant as an ant?"

The newbies fell silent, their minds a complex tangle.

"Cowards before the battle, precaution before the rain. In the end, you’re afraid, looking for a way out. Humph, without Xiang Yu’s resolve of burning his boats or Han Xin’s determination to fight with his back to the river, your achievements will end here."

Listening to Tang Zheng’s impassioned speech, Pang Meiqin and Li Xinlan felt he was amazing, completely controlling the situation.

"This kid must have secretly practiced speeches," Ruan Feifei mused, being a professional host herself, she detected some of the techniques Tang Zheng used.

Tang Zheng wasn’t completely right, but at that moment, it was undoubtedly the best proclamation because he could give newbies strength and dispel their fears.

Dong Zixuan looked at Tang Zheng and felt like she saw her father’s shadow in him, always ready to face any challenge, providing a backbone for everyone.

"Alright, go and execute the mission. Dantai, the vice group leader, will try his best to protect you. Although the mortality rate is high, if everyone works together with all their heart, we can surely survive."

The selected newbies no longer talked too much and complied with the arrangements.

"So impressive!" Fu Tianxiao’s eyes sparkled as she admired Tang Zheng; she almost wished she could devour him. She wanted this man; compared to him, Yue Jing was nothing but crap.

"Um, group leader, I’m not from their team." A newbie raised his hand, "I’m not afraid of dying, but I only want to fight alongside you."

"You go!" Nose Ring pulled out another newbie.

"Sorry, I’m not either." The newbies weren’t stupid and quickly made it clear.

"What, you’re not either?" Nose Ring grabbed another newbie and asked fiercely, even before he had a chance to speak.

The newbies originally intended to lie, but under Nose Ring’s piercing gaze, they gave up.

The newbies in the tunnel separated distinctly into two groups. Those belonging to the Warhammer Team all let out a sigh of relief and felt incredibly lucky, while Yue Jing’s group felt envious, some even prepared to ask the Conquerors in private if there was a possibility to become their group members.

"Be careful with everything!" As Dantai led the team away, Tang Zheng soothed the newbies, "Brother Lin has already gone to find supplies. I believe we will have food and weapons soon."

"Why are you so sure?" Xiaobai still wanted to strike at Tang Zheng and embarrass him.

"I’ve surveyed the tunnel and the command center environment. From the traces left, they withdrew in a hurry," Tang Zheng pointed to the papers on the ground.

"What does that mean?" Nose Ring and Xiaobai looked puzzled.

"What? You don’t understand?" Gu Xueqi finally spoke up, "These are combat maps. The soldiers couldn’t even pack up these important documents in time. Given their hasty retreat, do you think they could take the supplies?"

"Who are you?" Fu Tianxiao looked at the excessively young beauty, asking.

"The third on the Rookie Scoring Record," Sha Ou said simply, leaving Fu Tianxiao and the others speechless. The Warhammer Team was truly terrifying.
