Chapter 1420: Chapter 9 There’s Always a Newbie Who Can’t See the Big Picture (2nd Update)
"This is the endless nightmare, either you pass through the Holy Land or you die inside, there’s no second path to take," Miranda revealed a brutal piece of news.
Tang Zheng’s first thought wasn’t about his own safety, but to get Bai Guo, Lu Fan, and these Group Members who hadn’t yet entered the Hero Level to leave the room. Their scores weren’t that far apart, but they stayed, out of friendship.
"After taking your score and leaving, if the Trojan brings you back to the room, the original mature team is almost gone, and everything has to start again with solo fights, so it might as well go directly to the Holy Land, where the odds of victory are greater." Miranda hesitated for a moment but still spoke up, "So you can’t be too kind-hearted, for the sake of survival odds, try to persuade those Team Members who want to leave the room to participate in the Holy Land War."
"Anything else?" Tang Zheng asked calmly, cutting into his medium-rare steak with a dinner knife.
"Can’t you just take it seriously for once? This is about precious life, can you guarantee that after you die, they will bring you back to life?" Miranda hated Tang Zheng’s expression, as if he was heartlessly enjoying the arrival of spring.
In fact, as a domineering woman, Miranda had almost thrown away all of her dignity in front of Tang Zheng, so she wanted to see this man afraid, to see his collapse, but unfortunately, the wealthy lady was destined to be disappointed.
"I can guarantee that both Xin Lan and Fanfan, even Qin Yan who I always rejected, would bring me back to life." Tang Zheng’s lips curled into a satisfied smile, "Not to mention Brother Lin, even Pang Meiqin would make every effort to save points for my sake."
"But without you, your team would definitely collapse, they won’t wait to accumulate enough points and will die before then." Based on the intelligence in her hands, Miranda knew he was telling the truth, the man’s prestige in the Warhammer team was indeed unquestionable.
"I forgot to tell you just now, I will not die, never!" Tang Zheng finished the last piece of steak, put down his utensils, moved the chair away and stood up, "If there’s nothing else, I’m leaving now."
As Tang Zheng made his powerful declaration, Miranda was momentarily lost for words, even Jessica, who was accompanying the guest, looked at him with admiration.
"Enjoy your meal, I’ll take my leave!" Tang Zheng walked toward the door.
"He really is confident, auntie, I think I’m starting to like him," Jessica said, enamored by the sight of Tang Zheng’s upright figure, and hastily dropped her dinner knife, "I’m going to send him off."
Before Miranda could speak, the announcement from the Silver Trojan echoed in the dining room.
"Survivors, an emergency assembly is now in progress, you will be teleported to the Trojan Room in ten minutes to start the game!"
"Please note, given the difficulty of this mission, you may carry any weapons and supplies into the Trojan Room. To deal with unexpected situations, please do not just store supplies in your wristwatch; make sure you carry them with you."
"Please note, the main armaments of this Theme World are gunpowder weapons, it is best not to carry Future Technology weapons with you."
The Silver Trojan announced a total of ten precautions in one breath before falling silent.
"What’s going on?" Miranda was shocked. She had participated in many a Game, but had never encountered such a situation. Judging by the Silver Trojan’s seriousness, the difficulty of the Game had reached a point beyond its control.
"Not sure, but there’s no need for me to rush off now; trouble yourself to prepare some weapons for me." Tang Zheng casually listed a bunch of supplies. As a Wealthy individual, Miranda’s family certainly had Firearms ready.
"No problem, Jessica go quick, and you, Tang Zheng, don’t worry," Miranda wanted to comfort Tang Zheng but before she could say more, the voice of the Red Trojan Horse rang out.
"Survivors, please note that the Red Alert is activated, you will be teleported to the Trojan Room in twenty minutes, where you will be forced to undertake a mission."
"All exemption cards are invalid, please prepare the following Weapons."
...
Compared to the Silver Trojan’s perverse and evil taste, the Red Trojan Horse, which was like a nanny, proved to be responsible, saying more than thirty precautions in one go, but this level of caution also scared the Survivors of North America quite a bit.
"No way, are we going too?" Jessica, who hadn’t left yet, changed color slightly. To be honest, she was a bit relieved just a moment ago that it wasn’t her who was participating in the mission, but now, her mind was a mess. She wanted to be as composed as Tang Zheng but couldn’t.
Immediately, Miranda pulled out her phone to arrange her personal Bodyguards to prepare weapons.
In seven minutes, Tang Zheng had two combat Backpacks loaded with Supplies and a large number of automatic weapons in front of him.
"You’re still using Soviet weapons, huh?" Tang Zheng looked at a few AK series firearms but didn’t choose them because there were too few Bullets; he tucked a Beretta M92F Handgun into his waist and took as many weapons as possible, "After all, you guys have enough, I’ll bring some for Qin Yan and the rest."
"Could be, the Game we’re in might be the same," said Miranda, her expression grave, but before she could ask further, Tang Zheng’s legs had already disappeared.
The Teleport from the Asia Region had begun early.
"Good luck!" Tang Zheng placed his hand on his forehead, swung it forward, and three seconds later, vanished from the dining room.
After Teleportation, Tang Zheng didn’t see the familiar Pale White Walls, but a sea of panicked, clueless faces, well over a hundred people. They were arguing with each other, and the noise was unbearable in the room that couldn’t dissipate sound.
"Drowned? But that wouldn’t cause so many to die at once, right?" Tang Zheng couldn’t figure out how these Newbies, mostly women with fewer men, could have died; all wearing Swimsuits and drenched.
"What are they arguing about?" Tang Zheng casually asked, as a few busybodies stood out, seemingly clamoring for power.
"You can’t see for yourself?" A man wearing earrings next to him replied impatiently and glared at Tang Zheng, loudly berating him.
"Hey, what are you doing, you touched me, so dirty!" A woman with dyed red hair and wearing colored contact lenses recoiled when Tang Zheng’s combat backpack brushed against her arm and she exaggeratedly cried out.
"Yeah, move away, so dirty." The colored contact lens girl’s companion also shouted, telling Tang Zheng to keep his distance.
"Haha, brother, you like to play COSPLAY too, huh? These model firearms are pretty well made." A middle-aged man with a square face ignored the young people’s shouting and looking at Tang Zheng’s weapons with envy, he reached out to touch them.
Tang Zheng dodged, and the square-faced man’s expression immediately darkened. He was always domineering and felt very displeased being rejected so abruptly.
"Eh, I told you to get lost, didn’t you hear me!" The colored contact lens girl yelled, garnering attention from people around and shouting even louder, "Let me tell you, this girl’s favors aren’t so easily taken."
"Dumb girl!" Tang Zheng muttered under his breath, ignoring her.
"Who are you calling dumb?" The colored contact lens girl got angry, puffed out her chest, and walked up to him, but she had to lift her head to see Tang Zheng because he was much taller.
"Calling you!" If it weren’t for her being a woman, Tang Zheng would have slapped her already.
The colored contact lens girl was attractive and had a good figure, with long, tempting legs, otherwise, she wouldn’t be wearing an exposed, high-slit bikini. Seeing Tang Zheng admit it, she was momentarily stymied, then screamed towards the arguing men.
"Hubby, come here, someone is bullying me!" The colored contact lens girl was a vain person, fond of showing off, and aside from being pretentious, she was bothered that Tang Zheng was better looking than her husband; she wanted to step on his face and make them feel inferior.
The dispute in front paused briefly, and a burly man leading two underlings came over, the newcomers didn’t want any trouble and obediently made way.
"What’s the matter? Who is bullying you?" The burly man wore beach shorts and had sunglasses hanging on his nose; he came over and stared at Tang Zheng.
"It’s him, he took advantage of me." The colored contact lens girl clung to the burly man’s arm, acting coquettishly.
"You little punk, do you want to live? Fork over fifty thousand bucks, or else I’ll chop off one of your hands." The burly man had underworld links and lived by extortion.
"You’re trying to extort me without even understanding where this place is?" Tang Zheng thought it through and got the gist of the burly man’s intention, "Oh, trying to establish dominance using me, huh? Too bad you picked the wrong target."
"Brother, let’s not escalate this any further, okay? You’ll be the one to lose out," the burly man indeed intended to make an example of Tang Zheng. As a boss suddenly put in an unfamiliar environment, he knew he had to gain the leadership in order to use the goodwill of the people to choose some cannon fodder to pave the way for everyone’s survival.
"What kind of loss?" Tang Zheng, noting that the teleportation was still in progress, grew more solemn; this challenge was going to be extremely difficult.
"You really want to know?" The burly man sneered with feigned bravery, but he was actually feeling uncertain inside, as Tang Zheng’s calm demeanor troubled him.
The burly man had under him dozens of hoodlums and understood human psyche; once he became the group leader, picking isolated, weak, or background-less individuals to be sent to their deaths wouldn’t cause an uproar, as people were too concerned with their own safety. Yet now, all his plans were disrupted by this man.
"Boss, let’s beat him up!" his underlings shouted.
This group of people had been playing in the swimming pool when an unexpected explosion killed them. They were in fact lucky, because although the incident killed several hundred, only some fortunate ones made it here.
The burly man wasn’t foolish and didn’t want to get his hands dirty, allowing for some leeway. So, he signalled his underlings to punch.
One of them clenched his teeth, swung his fist, and aimed for the back of Tang Zheng’s head.
Tang Zheng lifted his right leg and kicked like a siege hammer into the underling’s stomach. The guy flew like a sack, flipping over several people, foaming at the mouth and passing out.
No one dared to make a peep, even the affected newcomers bowed their heads.
The colored contact lens girl was stunned and then, seeing Tang Zheng’s icy expression, realized she had hit an iron board.
"Look here, brother, we can talk about this," the burly man inwardly cursed his luck for hitting tough resistance and decided to change his tone.
"Who’s your brother?" Tang Zheng scoffed, his right leg swinging up like a battleaxe, brutally landing on the burly man’s jaw.
With a crack, the burly man’s jaw dislocated, flopping like a torn rag, and he fell away, spitting blood mixed with several teeth, a horrifying sight.
The room fell eerily silent!
