Chapter 1392: Chapter 58 Death’s Pursuer
"Damn you, Sha Ou," the private room princess cursed in her heart, but she didn’t dare to retort and obediently knelt down.
"Damn it, I’ll make you pay!" Sha Ou, recalling how this woman had once feared and avoided him because of the plague, felt no fondness for her and was ready to torture her.
"You’re hurting me!" The private room princess’s hair was pulled painfully. She tried to act coquettishly, but what responded to her was Sha Ou’s slap.
"Shut up with the nonsense! Hurry up!" Sha Ou cursed. Suddenly, the whoosh of arrows cutting through the air could be heard.
Sha Ou’s muscles tensed instantly. He grabbed the private room princess’s hair and pulled her behind him while activating the Light Defense Shield.
"Ah, it hurts so much!" The private room princess was too stupid, holding onto Sha Ou’s hand without even realizing what was happening.
Dozens of javelins whizzed between the branches, with green leaves falling like snowflakes, enveloping both survivors in a fan shape.
"We have enemies!" Sha Ou roared his warning to the camping ground, quickly releasing the private room princess and moving toward the camp.
A few javelins brushing past the private room princess plunged into the ground, nearly causing her to wet herself in fear. Sha Ou, being a man, was seen as a more formidable enemy in the eyes of the natives, so most of the javelins were aimed at him.
"Don’t leave me behind!" The private room princess, furious at seeing Sha Ou’s hesitation-free evacuation, cursed, "Sha Ou, you bastard."
The private room princess had such bad luck. She ran a few steps, tripped over a tree root protruding from the ground, and just as she was getting up, a series of frantic howling approached. One by one, dark, burly figures landed and sprinted by.
"God save me!" The private room princess thought to feign death, but then a native jumped down from the branches and viciously stomped on her back.
Crack, her spine nearly snapped under the pressure, and she emitted a piercing scream. Turning around, she saw a ferocious native, who jabbed a javelin toward her eye socket.
Thud. Her head was pierced by the javelin. The native drew his curved knife, beheaded her, and followed their tribal custom. They believed that by doing this, the enemy’s soul could not return to the embrace of God and hence couldn’t reincarnate for revenge.
The native who killed his prey didn’t rush to hunt but used his curved knife to cut open the private room princess’s clothes. Without even glancing at her **** shaking in the moonlight, he stabbed into her chest and extracted her heart.
The native took a raw bite of the heart, licked the corner of his mouth, and pursued other prey.
Sha Ou saw natives approaching from both sides, parallel to him, and as javelins flew toward him, he swung out his right hand, activated his telekinesis, and their attack fell through.
"What’s going on?" Sha Ou opened his shield only to find his life energy draining rapidly, so he quickly canceled it. But then, he caught a bullet in his back. Fortunately, the protective clothing was effective; otherwise, he would have been seriously hurt.
Props not stored in the space wristwatch could still be used, but they would consume a large amount of life energy, which sometimes was not worth the cost. After all, Silver Trojan never made a losing deal; the toys only unlocked their wristwatches after killing enough natives.
The Conquerors moved swiftly. As soon as Sha Ou shouted, they had already charged out of their tents, and seeing the indigenous people leaping through the tree forest, they remained calm, poised to attack.
Ruan Feifei regained the grace of her days as a hostess. With electric arcs fizzling between her fingers, she waved her hand and sent a thick blue lightning bolt out, shattering the leaves, and struck a native.
The native convulsed and smoked, burning blackened, and toppled down the tree trunk.
Tao Ran wasn’t lazy either. The time-space blackfish flew out, bit into a native’s head, and chewed off his upper body.
Xu Biyun’s puppet rose from the ground, throwing a heavy punch that sent a passing native flying.
"Hmph, a bunch of weaklings!" Lu Fan snorted coldly. His right foot stomped the ground, and a sand pillar shot up to the sky, pinning a native, dangling there.
Since they lacked weapons, the Conquerors did not strike rashly but waited for the natives to come to them.
The moist climate of the tropical rainforest was perfect for Li Xinlan to unleash her power. Multiple ice spears appeared in midair, and as they shot down, they impaled the natives, clearing a buffer zone.
"Why aren’t you using your magma? What are you waiting for?" Li Huiwen urged Dong Zixuan, believing the woman was conserving her life energy.
Dong Zixuan didn’t reply, she looked down on the adulterous Li Renqi.
"You’re worried about starting a jungle fire, aren’t you? At a time like this, and you care about that?" Pang Meiqin gave the policewoman a disdainful look, detesting those with a moralistic streak.
Sha Ou, seeing everyone else fighting back, was reassured, but then, he heard the whistling sound of a javelin slicing through the air from behind.
"Dang it!" Sha Ou wanted to unleash his telekinesis, but the javelin was too fast, and he barely saw it coming. He could only turn on his shield, but was still half a beat too slow.
The javelin sank into Sha Ou’s back, bringing a piercing pain. It was the chieftain’s special weapon, an S-grade protective clothing couldn’t stop it.
"Save him!" Mu Nianqi launched the Northern Wind Ring, and even though she disliked Sha Ou, she had to think from the team’s perspective.
Lin Weiguo dashed forward, soil flowed up his legs, spread over his body, and formed armor, while Ai Yixin did not take any chances and activated her Platinum Queen, undergoing a diamond transformation.
"Xin Lan, save some energy," Qin Yan held onto Li Xin Lan, not wanting her to overexert herself in her injured state.
Pang Meiqin glanced at the battle but didn’t make a move.
"What are you dazed about? Fight!" Xu Liangmao glared at Li Huiwen and, after beastification, charged forward.
"Fool, no wonder you’ve always been a sapper!" Li Huiwen, seeing the icy glares from Mu Nianqi and Pang Meiqin, didn’t dare slack off, released his Asura, and attacked the natives who were clearly weak.
A chieftain targeted Sha Ou, fiercely swinging his curved knife.
"Get lost!" Sha Ou waved his hand at the chief, who, as if hit by an invisible giant hand, flew straight into the air and crashed to the side.
Natives nearby all fell, javelins being shot in volleys.
Sha Ou endured the pain from his wound, activated his telekinesis again, and, in a careless moment, was approached by a chief and slashed on the waist—had Lin Weiguo not come to his aid in time, he might have been cut in half.
"Damn it, how can we fight in this pitch black?" Sha Ou complained and hid behind the Old Soldier.
"Old Soldier, Old Xu, block their charge; Bai Guo, attack from the rear." Mu Nianqi also took action, grabbing a short knife and efficiently slashing down a native.
Bai Guo appeared and disappeared like a ghost, reaping the natives’ heads. Her ability was too suited for chaotic battles, striking and then vanishing, leaving no one able to spot her.
Mu Nianqi thought she could control the situation but frowned five minutes later.
"This won’t do, there are too many of them." Ai Yixin shouted. At least two hundred native corpses were left behind, the stench of blood overwhelming, yet even more fearless warriors kept coming, like endless wolves.
The chieftains began to emit rhythmic roars, which seemed to have the effect of stimulating the pituitary gland; the natives’ muscles bulged, and their combat power doubled.
"Retreat!" Qin Yan decisively ordered, not wanting to continue the consumption, "Fei Fei, Zixuan, Yixin, you clear the path."
The newbies were in chaos. It was the moment before dawn, with dim light in the jungle severely slowing their progress.
"Why are the natives fighting like they’ve gone mad?" Even in combat, Mu Nianqi didn’t stop pondering, "Could they be hiding something?"
Queen Mu’s guess was nearly spot-on; tragically, their teleportation point was too close to the Inca Golden City, the natives’ holy city where outsiders desecrating it would never be tolerated.
The natives in the Inca rainforest believed that the closer they were to the Holy City, the more divine protection they would receive. Therefore, the stronger tribes gathered around the Golden City, often skirmishing over food and prey, but they would unite against outsiders.
"If you encounter those with colorful feathers, don’t fight recklessly—call for support." The Old Soldier went all out with the Giant Guard enveloping him, like an invincible war god.
The Old Soldier blew a chief’s head to pieces and snatched his curved knife, tossing it to Ai Yixin while reminding everyone.
"Don’t look around, little sister." Dong Zixuan, carrying a little girl, ran wildly through the jungle; Tao Ran, who was on good terms with her, stayed close by.
"Grandpa, hurry up!" The little girl disobeyed, turning her head back and shouting at her grandfather.
"Go ahead, grandpa will catch up soon!" The Sanitation Worker was after all seventy years old, severely affected by aging. Even though sweeping the streets regularly could keep him fit, this kind of desperate escape was too much for him.
After running a distance, the Sanitation Worker fell; the newbies ran past him without helping.
The Conquerors were too busy fighting to attend to him.
"Grandpa, put me down, I want to go to my grandpa!" The little girl struggled, kicking and scratching, pulling on Dong Zixuan’s hair, insisting to be let down.
"Stop fussing!" Dong Zixuan hesitated for a moment but then turned back to save the Old Man.
"Are you crazy? Carrying two burdens, how will you run?" Li Huiwen knew well how to curry favor; he seemed to scold the policewoman, but in fact, he was trying to build a relationship.
Shen Qingshuang didn’t do anything unnecessary, knowing the grandfather and granddaughter wouldn’t survive for long; their early deaths could actually be a mercy.
"Biyun, use your puppet to take the old man," Qin Yan, unable to be ruthless, would rather reduce a combat power, fill in herself, exert an extra effort, and save the Old Man.
"Stop complaining, I’ll kill a few more!" bellowed the Old Soldier, going full firepower.
"Conserve your energy; there is no need against these weaklings," Mu Nianqi grumbled, seeing everyone as fools.
The Old Soldier had his own thoughts. Forget the newbies—as for the Conquerors, to bring out even one survivor, seeing Tang Zheng, he, as the big brother, must shoulder the responsibility.
Xu Biyun obediently got the puppet to lift the Old Man. Just as she put him on her back, a javelin thrown by a chieftain arrived. Sha Ou could have deflected it, but he did not.
Thud—the javelin pierced the Old Man’s back, blood spurting violently.
"Thank you, thank all of you." The little girl, tears streaming down her face, saw her grandpa being rescued and smiled joyously, hastily expressing gratitude. But in the next instant, her expression froze and then turned into sorrow.
