Chapter 1390: Chapter 56: Super Strong Self-healing
"Bullshit, our Group Leader is gay!" Xiang Ning roared furiously, then froze, realizing she was the one with the problem here.
As a Group Leader, although one wouldn’t excessively interfere with Group Members, they would not let them act freely and do things that would damage the team. Actions like Xiang Ning’s would undoubtedly be monitored, especially since the camping ground was close by. For the Fearless, hooking up was as good as being seen in the act.
"So that’s how it is," Tang Zheng nodded, looking at the saliva on Xiang Ning’s chest, shrugged his shoulders, and sat up. "You’re the exhibitionist here, not me."
Xiang Ning was so angry she could die; she had indeed been inconsiderate.
"Alright, put your clothes on properly," Tang Zheng reached for her bodysuit, trying to pull it up for her, but her chest was too big; it wouldn’t fit without a bit of adjustment by hand.
"I don’t need your help," Xiang Ning grumbled, realizing that indeed no Group Leader was easy to deal with, "You’re a 2nd tier hero?"
"Yeah!" The conversation finally continued, and although both of them had reservations, they largely exchanged information and earned a measure of trust. The atmosphere became more harmonious.
"We could cooperate!" Xiang Ning guessed at Tang Zheng’s abilities, but she had no clue. "Do you have an SS-level rare ability?"
"Can you make decisions for Li Kelun?" Tang Zheng twirled a blade of grass, not bothering to ask the futile question about the abilities of others—Xiang Ning wouldn’t tell anyway, and if they were to act together, he would inevitably see for himself.
"I can persuade him!" Xiang Ning stood up to leave but was pulled back by Tang Zheng. "What are you doing?"
"Don’t get the wrong idea; I have no intention of sleeping with you!" Tang Zheng pointed at his chest wound, "Even if we were to have an internal fight, we’d still have to team up and take down the other Trojan Squads first, right? To make me a combat asset, if you have a medic, could you let her treat me?"
Xiang Ning didn’t really want to, she was just humoring Tang Zheng verbally. This man was already so strong with serious injuries; he would definitely be a formidable opponent if healed.
"Ever heard of Nuclear Flame? He’s sure to have come too!" Tang Zheng performed an act worthy of an Oscar statuette, which had Xiang Ning looking serious in just a few words.
"Fine, I’ll have Pan Hui treat you!"
Pan Hui was a mature woman pushing thirty, with a slight fullness to her figure and a distinction of mannerism.
"Nice muscles!" Pan Hui felt Tang Zheng’s arm, pulling out a syringe, "Take off your clothes."
"No need, just use your ability to heal!" Tang Zheng wouldn’t let these people inject him with some unknown potion.
Pan Hui glanced at Xiang Ning’s tent and shook her head in refusal.
"Don’t reject so quickly; I can trade with you. Although my wristwatch can’t be used at the moment, as soon as the restrictions are lifted, I can give you an S-level Defense Shield!" Tang Zheng’s Light Defense Shield was collecting dust in his wristwatch; it would be better to make use of it.
Seeing Pan Hui’s Level A Protective Clothing and the Thunderstorm rifle she carried, Tang Zheng knew she wasn’t swimming in points.
"That joke’s not funny!" Pan Hui feigned strength, but she was tempted. The price of an S-grade artifact was more than she could afford even with points from three missions. If not for her healing ability and Li Kelun’s protection, she would have long been dead.
"This is no joke. Look at this!" Gu Xueqi shook her Space Wristwatch and then tugged at her collar to flash her Protective Clothing. Feeling it lacked convincing power, she unfolded an SS-level shield, "I’ve also recently become a Conqueror."
"You’re really lucky to have found a good Group Leader." Pan Hui was envious to death, her gaze towards Tang Zheng changed.
Li Kelun wasn’t cruel, but he spent all his points on improving his abilities. For Pan Hui, he only provided the most basic of help. After all, in the face of extremely intense combat, he couldn’t rely on her treatment, only on potions, so Pan Hui’s value to him wasn’t great.
"Don’t worry, Xiang Ning won’t tell on you; I’ve made an agreement with her." Tang Zheng smiled, "Your chest is no smaller than hers."
"How do you know? Did you touch?" Pan Hui wasn’t a prudish woman and even deliberately pushed her chest out.
"Once this mission is over, and we’re back in reality, can I take you out for a meal?" Tang Zheng showed eight pearly white teeth, along with a hearty smile that was quite captivating.
"I like Western food!" Pan Hui seemed to agree, then released her ability, and a white sphere appeared above her head, extending several tentacles that writhed and pierced into Tang Zheng’s skin, beginning to suck.
Tang Zheng felt nothing strange, but he could see black liquid being drawn from his body into the tentacles and absorbed by the sphere.
The sphere displayed a large number 32, and underneath it, a series of smaller numbers decreased rapidly.
"My ability accelerates wound healing," Pan Hui watched the sphere’s response, then suddenly frowned, "How badly are you injured, for it to be this severe? Usually, a minute of sucking reduces two hours of recovery time!"
"If the absorption lasts long enough, can I be healed instantly?" Tang Zheng cursed Li Kelun internally for being an idiot, not focusing on cultivating such a powerful ability.
"In theory, yes, but my sphere can’t handle it; it needs time to digest the ’injury’ it absorbs from the patient’s body," Pan Hui sighed, "If I could go berserk, it would shorten the time, but that’s too hard."
"Don’t worry, you’ll definitely do it. Extreme emotions, like anger, as well as a strong will to survive can help with going berserk," Tang Zheng shared some experience he had gleaned.
"Is your body a monster? To have such severe injuries and still be able to fight?" Pan Hui was amazed and privately assessed that a fully recovered Tang Zheng would be stronger than Li Kelun.
"People are forced out!" Tang Zheng smiled indifferently, "Besides, I’m used to it. It’s not the first time I’ve been missing an arm or a leg."
"I’ll help you heal and recover from two days’ worth of injuries first. Once you’ve exchanged the promised item, we’ll continue," Pan Hui wasn’t foolish. If Tang Zheng were to go back on his word, she would be utterly powerless.
"As I should," Tang Zheng nodded, having never considered reneging on the deal.
Pan Hui stared at the time, about to control the sphere to withdraw the tentacles, but suddenly they behaved aberrantly. The outflow of the black liquid quickened, and fist-sized bulges even appeared along the tentacles.
Tang Zheng’s injuries were slowing in their healing, and the sphere’s time indicator was rapidly decreasing.
"What’s happening? It’s not under control anymore?" Pan Hui exclaimed in shock, angrily turning to Tang Zheng, "What did you do?"
"I don’t know!" Tang Zheng’s expression also darkened.
"Xiang Ning, Group Leader, save me!" Pan Hui was scared and called out for help from her companions.
There was the sound of slicing wind, and Li Kelun, wearing only his underwear, rushed out.
"What have you done to our Group Leader?" Assuming Pan Hui was harming Tang Zheng, Gu Xueqi picked up a curved knife, ready to cut off the tentacles.
Bang, the teleporting man appeared beside Gu Xueqi, swinging his fist at her.
The campus belle had no time to dodge, focused only on cutting the tentacles, worried that any further delay would cause more harm to him.
Li Kelun appeared beside Gu Xueqi, grabbing hold of the curved knife just as the teleporting man was about to strike the campus belle. Suddenly, a Flame Phoenix burst out from behind her and crashed into the teleporting man’s face.
Although the teleporting man blocked the phoenix, he looked quite disheveled.
"Stop, all of you!" Tang Zheng roared, grabbing the tentacles and yanking them off with brute force. Black blood sprayed everywhere, the stench overwhelming.
"Stop yelling, it’s not his fault!" Xiang Ning scolded Pan Hui, helping Tang Zheng handle the tentacles.
In just those few seconds, the number representing days on the sphere had dropped to 25, and it had shrunk significantly, turning a dark black, looking weak and powerless.
"What’s going on here? This has never happened before!" Pan Hui lamented her loss, as her life energy had been significantly drained due to the rapid healing.
"You should be content. If he hadn’t actively pulled off the tentacles, you might have turned into a dried corpse by now," Li Kelun scolded without any warmth, but his perception of Tang Zheng improved quite a bit. If it were him, he might have waited until fully recovered before releasing the sphere.
Tang Zheng looked at his hands, deep in thought over the cause. In fact, it was the conscious actions of the viruses, taking any opportunity to heal their host as quickly as possible.
If not for the viruses pushing his body to evolve, with Tang Zheng’s condition, he would have been unable to move long ago. As for the sphere’s numbers, they weren’t entirely accurate either since, given the disparity in their levels, Pan Hui simply couldn’t measure Tang Zheng’s data accurately.
The injuries Tang Zheng suffered were far more severe than the estimated 32 days!
"This was my mistake; I will give you an S-class heavy Magnetostorm Rifle as an apology!" Watching Pan Hui’s complexion, Tang Zheng felt somewhat remorseful; he wasn’t the kind of person who would do anything to achieve his objectives.
"Really?" Pan Hui brightened up, seeing it as a stroke of luck.
The other Conquerors also looked on with envy; no one would complain about having too many weapons.
"You’re not too bad a person, and really generous with handing out S-grade weapons!" Li Kelun waved his hand dismissively, "It’s fine now, let’s drop it."
Xiang Ning also felt some goodwill towards Tang Zheng. You can often judge a person’s character by their actions.
After the commotion, the camping ground quieted down, and everyone, unable to resist sleepiness, went to rest.
"Let’s sleep together!" Gu Xueqi saw Tang Zheng sitting in front of the campfire, stubbornly dragging him, and pulled him into the tent.
"That’s not appropriate!" Tang Zheng resisted.
"If you don’t sleep, then I’ll sit up with you," Gu Xueqi gave Tang Zheng a look, goading him, "You must be thinking impure thoughts, otherwise why be afraid if your conscience is clear?"
Tang Zheng, unable to outlast Gu Xueqi, was stuffed into the sleeping bag.
"I should go out!" Seeing Gu Xueqi standing by, hesitant, Tang Zheng really felt embarrassed. After all, she was a young woman who clearly hadn’t shared a bed with a man before.
"I’ll take off my clothes!" Xueqi found an excuse, but ultimately didn’t undress and crawled into the sleeping bag instead.
The sleeping bag was narrow, and as the campus belle got in, though she avoided Tang Zheng, her thigh still brushed against his body, and her buttocks even grazed his face.
"I’m sorry!" Gu Xueqi’s face turned red with embarrassment, not daring to look at Tang Zheng, turning her back to him. (To be continued. If you like this work, please visit Qidian to cast your vote for recommendation and monthly tickets, your support is my greatest motivation.)
