Chapter 1388: Chapter 54 Teaching the Newbie
"Group Leader, don’t blame me, this guy is really strong!" Zhao Haixing was frustrated. Who could have imagined that a seriously injured man could suddenly overpower him? Smelling the blood on the other man and feeling the oppressive aura, he hurriedly called out, worrying that any hesitation from the Group Leader could spell trouble for himself.
The Group Leader was pondering. Not answering would make the other party anxious and also secure the initiative. No matter what, he needed to steer the situation.
"Forget about waiting. With these wounds, I’m not going to bleed to death." Tang Zheng exerted force with his arm, twisting Zhao Haixing’s head to the side, "I’ll count to three. If you don’t come out, I’ll start the slaughter."
"Where is the enemy?" O’Reilly shivered, thinking she’d encountered a ghost.
Tang Zheng didn’t reply. Suddenly, he moved the gun away and shot towards the left side. Before the other side could react, he again pressed the muzzle to Zhao Haixing’s head.
A man materialized from thin air, staring at Tang Zheng with a dark expression. He had a shield activated, which had blocked the bullet.
"Before you try a surprise attack next time, remember to lighten your footsteps. This place is covered in dry leaves. Do you think you can be completely silent?" Tang Zheng chided the man, his expression calm. This kind of demeanor put more pressure on the opponent. Showing concern for Gu Xueqi would instead cause the enemy to reassess her value.
"Group Leader, save me, I’m so scared!" Gu Xueqi was smart and pretended to be frightened to confuse the enemy.
"Such great acting!" Tang Zheng felt that the beauty could win the Oscar for Best Actress. If he didn’t know about her competitive nature, he might have been deceived himself.
"We are all compatriots. We can talk!" As a deep voice spoke, a buzz-cut man appeared from the air, "I am Li Kelun from China. I hate foreigners the most, so I hope your nationality won’t be the reason I decide to kill you!"
Li Kelun was tall and muscular, almost 1.9 meters, built like a bear. Though his face was plain, the 3S-level Xuanwu Protective Clothing he wore was eye-catching. This indicated that he was at least a first-stage hero.
"You’ll definitely be disappointed then. He’s an American Chinese." The bearded man had a sudden shock, blurting out impulsively.
"I forgot to mention, I hate being interrupted when I speak!" Li Kelun glared at the bearded man and snapped his fingers.
"Don’t get the wrong idea!" Javier tried to play peacemaker with a smile, but before he could finish his sentence, the bearded man’s head exploded with a bang, splattering several South Americans with flesh and blood.
Javier turned pale and dared not say another word.
"We are both Chinese, from the Trojan Room in Asia." Since no bullets had been fired, the one who blew up the bearded man’s head must have a Seed Ability, which made Tang Zheng frown; he couldn’t determine the type.
"You would have realized it by now, or else I would have killed you already." Li Kelun made a handgun gesture and his gaze fell on Javier, "You made yourself really easy to find!"
Li Kelun seemed not to care about Tang Zheng, but in reality, his attention was fixed on him, ready for combat. The dangerous aura emitted by Tang Zheng increased his pressure.
"I don’t know you!" Javier caved, knowing that survival was possible as long as he wasn’t killed on the spot.
"Have your team members come out. With so few people, you won’t be able to kill me!" Tang Zheng clicked his tongue, showing disdain.
"Conceited people usually don’t fare well!" The woman holding Gu Xueqi was in her twenties and appeared from thin air wearing only Protective Clothing that left her ample chest and curvy hips conspicuously eye-catching.
One by one, the invisible Conquerors appeared, arms crossed, looking down at Tang Zheng with disdain, as if watching a monkey.
Javier and the others were dumbfounded by this fantastical scene, which they couldn’t comprehend.
"Let’s exchange hostages!" Such a low-level display of intimidation didn’t even make Tang Zheng blink. However, he was puzzled. He thought the enemy’s invisibility was a power, but now, seeing that even those who couldn’t even burst a Seed could be invisible, he suspected it might be due to some kind of equipment effect.
"No, even if there were that many invisibility props, they wouldn’t all have them; those things are expensive. That being said, it must mean they’ve found some Easter Egg!" Tang Zheng remembered what Yin Shangwu had said about the many undiscovered secrets in Trojan, and that if they were incredibly lucky, they could find an Easter Egg that enhanced their personal or team strength.
"Is she that important to you?" Li Kelun, seeing Tang Zheng’s expressionless face, was slightly troubled; he hated having to think too much, "Xiang Ning, handle this!"
Xiang Ning nodded and pushed Gu Xueqi forward. Before she could speak, Tang Zheng did something that surprised her.
"There’s no need for complications!" Tang Zheng released Zhao Haixing, "This is my show of sincerity!"
"Bold move. I respect that!" Li Kelun was startled and seemed to compliment Tang Zheng, but his expression soured, as he appeared petty in comparison.
Tang Zheng shrugged his shoulders and adjusted his collar, drawing attention to his Xuanwu Protective Clothing. He was ready to teleport to rescue the beauty at any moment.
Quality equipment was a proof of strength. At this moment, even Xiang Ning couldn’t take Tang Zheng lightly, despite his injuries.
"Let her go!" Seeing his team’s morale visibly falter, Li Kelun waved his hand impatiently, "You all may go."
Javier couldn’t wait to leave. A man with a seven-point head teleported in front of him, grabbing his collar.
"Did I say you could go?" Li Kelun glared at Javier, "Don’t try any tricks with me. Tell me how to get to the Golden City!"
"Group Leader, we can’t let them go!" Xiang Ning refused, sizing up Tang Zheng, "We still don’t know their mission, it might turn into a team battle!"
Xiang Ning’s words immediately heightened the tension, and all the group members aimed their weapons at Tang Zheng.
"We were teleported here a second time, and up until now, Trojan hasn’t given any orders!" Tang Zheng helped Gu Xueqi up without hiding anything; he could tell these people weren’t too bad, or at least they didn’t have any hostile intentions for the time being.
"A second teleportation? It seems our game speed is too slow, which has led to Trojan teleporting in more squads." Li Kelun clearly knew more secrets. Whenever the game’s progress slowed down, to whip the players into action, Trojan would grant a second teleportation.
This was also to prevent the Trojan Squad from taking advantage of a game not too dangerous, to rest and recuperate, eliminating any possibility of loopholes.
"You two aren’t Americans?" Javier wondered, "What’s this Trojan Squad?"
"That’s none of your business!" Gu Xueqi pointed at Carlos, "They are from a South American squad. I’m sure you have questions for them."
"It’s too much trouble, just kill them!" Li Kelun was about to snap his fingers again when he was stopped by the teleporting man.
"Group Leader, don’t be rash, leave it to me!" the teleporting man, in full view of everyone, grabbed Carlos by the hair, pulled out a dagger, and pressed it to his face.
"I’ll say anything you want to ask!" Carlos was shamelessly compliant, yet the interrogation by the teleporting man didn’t stop; the dagger swung, carving two characters into his face.
Carlos howled in agony. O’Reilly instinctively leaned toward Tang Zheng, only to be grabbed by a long-haired woman.
"Save me!" O’Reilly pleaded with Tang Zheng, tears streaming down her face.
"Don’t worry, he won’t kill you!" A captive made the best cannon fodder after all, and Tang Zheng wouldn’t kill them off easily either.
O’Reilly had just breathed a sigh of relief when a short-haired man’s comment scared her.
"Ah, a Latin beauty, I like it, look how big her chest is!" Liu Hang clicked his tongue, moving toward O’Reilly, reaching out to grope her chest. Unfortunately, before he could touch her, Tang Zheng caught his wrist.
"What are you doing? Can’t I check the captive for weapons?" Liu Hang’s excuse was quite good, but in the face of absolute power, it was useless.
Tang Zheng didn’t even bother to glance at him as he increased the pressure.
"Ouch, that hurts, let go!" Liu Hang screamed and summoned his magic pet, a golden-patterned python that appeared out of nowhere above Tang Zheng, opening its jaws wide to bite him.
Tang Zheng swung his arm around and hit the python on its mouth, the powerful force sending it tumbling down. Gu Xueqi leaped up, stepping on the python, and viciously hacking away with her short knife.
The python twisted, its tail smashing large trees to pieces, but was grabbed by the school beauty, thrown away, and a few Flame Phoenixes shot out, blasting its vital spot into ragged, charred flesh.
The python died, disintegrating into specks of light and vanished. Gu Xueqi calmly walked back to Tang Zheng’s side.
At such times, one must display their strength to intimidate the opponent.
"Your group member is very rude!" Tang Zheng released Liu Hang.
"Get back here!" Xiang Ning was irritated, lashing out at Liu Hang.
Liu Hang walked away but suddenly turned and launched a sneak attack on Tang Zheng, only to be kicked in the backside by him, tumbling out and getting covered in soil.
O’Reilly hid behind Tang Zheng.
"Leave her be." Someone was dissatisfied, wanting to trouble her, but was stopped by Xiang Ning.
Xiang Ning wasn’t foolish; she knew Tang Zheng had shown O’Reilly a favor, letting her lower her guard so they could get more information out of her.
"Let’s get out of here first, more people might come!" the long-haired woman suggested, yawning, "I’m tired, let’s find a place to camp!"
Tang Zheng and Gu Xueqi followed at the back of the line; it was better to have more people to share the pressure if enemies attacked.
"Are you alright?" The school beauty placed her hand on Tang Zheng’s back to heal him, knowing that if the Group Leader recovered a little, everyone’s chances of survival would increase.
By a stream, the team found a campsite. Zhao Haixing saw that the other party’s wristwatch wasn’t working and was waiting for them to come and ask him to borrow an iron shovel and a tent, but they just used their curved knives to prepare the ground and then made vine hammocks.
"Don’t waste your energy, use this!" Xiang Ning handed Tang Zheng a tent and a sleeping bag, "I’m sorry, we’re short on supplies too."
"Thank you!" Tang Zheng wasn’t polite; poor rest was a huge drain on the spirit, "Xueqi, you use it!"
"No, you’re more injured, you use it!" Gu Xueqi shook her head in refusal, and started setting up the tent. She had already owed the Group Leader enough favors. (To be continued.
