Chapter 1360: Chapter 36 Close Combat

Several corpses had completely stunned Ran Mei, who was in utter panic. Seeing Li Huiwen entangled by the receptionist’s tentacles, she wanted to help but didn’t know how, her legs trembling like noodles, unable to take a step.

Ratatat, bullets sprayed from the muzzle, all shooting into the receptionist’s body, but sadly this firepower couldn’t injure her.

The receptionist let out a growl from her throat, her tentacles wrapping around Li Huiwen and smashing her into the wall.

The pained housewife almost lost her breath from the heavy fall, her rifle slipping from her grip and clattering to the floor.

Ran Mei had a handgun, which she pulled out in fear, but she had forgotten all the operating instructions Lin Weiguo had given her. She tried to pull the trigger at the receptionist, but with no bullet chambered and the safety still on, it wouldn’t fire.

The receptionist’s tentacle whipped Ran Mei’s face like a steel lash, flipping her over.

Li Huiwen didn’t want to die; she bit into the tentacle around her neck, swallowing the alien’s fresh blood and broken flesh. Her ability was Crazy Asura, which once released, enhanced her strength and speed, and her self-healing was exceptionally strong. She was entirely a close-combat soldier, very practical.

"Run!" Li Huiwen, after all, wasn’t completely heartless. Knowing that Ran Mei staying meant a cannon fodder’s fate, she reminded her once again.

Ran Mei nodded and then shook her head, but eventually stumbled and ran out.

"Kill her!" The receptionist’s hoarse voice issued a cold command. The parasitized Tong Yulei and the man with the eyes appeared zombie-like, their bodies lurching as they lunged at Ran Mei.

"Don’t come any closer!" Ran Mei yelled, hurling her handgun away, sadly missing even Tong Yulei’s shadow.

Xu Liangmao heard Ran Mei’s shouts, followed by his wife’s yelling. The voice was all too familiar. Without a second thought, he darted out. The miserable man was really honest and deeply cared for his wife from the bottom of his heart.

Lin Weiguo was searching the museum, hoping to find some clues. Hearing the cry for help, he also rushed to provide support.

Tang Zheng had left the main group to look for the curator and staff for some intelligence, but then a man came walking over.

"Sir, is there anything I can help you with?"

As the saying goes, it’s hard to slap a smiling face. Anyway, it saved Tang Zheng the trouble of looking, but after two simple questions, he furrowed his brow. The man was evasive and couldn’t answer at all.

When Ran Mei’s screaming came, Pang Meiqin and Lu Fan’s attention was diverted. Tang Zheng cast a glance at the man next to him the moment he heard it.

Sure enough, knowing that his comrades had started their attack, the man sneered. He whipped out a handgun from his breast pocket and pulled the trigger at Tang Zheng’s head. He thought the group leader was more dangerous than those women, but he was startled by the prophetic gaze Tang Zheng gave him.

Tang Zheng caught the man’s gun-holding hand, squeezed hard, crushing his bones, and then kicked him hard in the stomach.

The man shrieked as he fell, and before he could get up, the Empress’s thunderous energy sphere turned him into a mushy mess, and Pang Meiqin’s Hell’s Song finished him off.

"Damn it, this whole museum might be filled with alien species!" Lu Fan drew his White Ivory and Black Ebony Incense and mounted his Spider Mount. "Who should we support?"

Gunshots erupted from several locations, dense and rapid.

"Head to Li Huiwen’s position. Everyone, report your status!" Tang Zheng tapped his throat microphone, communicating with the entire group. Qin Yan and the others didn’t need his attention; knowing Li Huiwen was in trouble, the miserable man would definitely go. He wouldn’t be stingy about helping this hard-working engineer.

Mu Nianqi’s response came first, having already killed her assailant. The others were safe for the moment.

Tang Zheng, detesting the slowness of his run, tugged at his cape and teleported a hundred meters away. As soon as he appeared, he saw Tong Yulei, turned into a puppet, and the man with glasses attacking Ran Mei, tearing at her flesh, ready to dismember her.

"Die!" Tang Zheng hurled his Storm Hammer, striking the man with glasses in the head and smashing him against the wall.

The man with glasses’ head shattered, and his headless corpse slid to the ground. Tang Zheng leaped forward, reaching Tong Yulei, and threw a heavy punch at his mouth.

Bang, such was Tang Zheng’s strength that in the moment of impact, Tong Yulei’s lower body remained in place, but his neck clearly fractured, bent backward at nearly ninety degrees, his neck skin tearing apart before his body blew away entirely.

After a quick glance at Ran Mei and seeing no serious injuries, Tang Zheng left. For safety, he casually fired a couple of shots into the corpse of the man with glasses, turning it into a pile of mush.

Pang Meiqin and the others followed, running past Ran Mei, shooting at Tong Yulei’s corpse. His legs got shredded, but suddenly his head burst, several tentacles stretching out, thrashing about, aiming at Tang Zheng.

Tang Zheng activated his shield to block them; Lu Fan’s Dual Guns furiously fired, completely bursting them apart.

Ran Mei’s soul had just settled when she got up to chase after Tang Zheng, unaware that out of the glasses-wearing man’s corpse, several bugs had crawled out and were swiftly approaching her.

"Ouch!" Ran Mei felt a pain in her neck, reached out to swat it, but felt nothing. In her panic, she thought little of it, not knowing that the bugs had already burrowed into her body.

The female receptionist was clearly an alien species of the BOSS level. Li Huiwen, entangled by tentacles, had lost the ability to resist and hung limply in mid-air. The receptionist’s tongue, with its wet mucus, slid into Li Renqi’s mouth, beginning to lay eggs inside. It didn’t want to waste such an excellent host.

Tang Zheng teleported beside the female receptionist, and his warhammer, carrying a gust of wind, smashed into her body, sending her tumbling away.

Because Li Huiwen was being ensnared by the tentacles, she, too, was about to be dragged away. Tang Zheng extended a large hand, grabbed the slippery tentacles with a fierce tug, and flung the receptionist into the air before smashing her into the ground.

Lu Fan flew over, shooting at the tentacles, trying to break them. Pang Meiqin pulled out the Demon Ripper, and amidst the buzzing of the electric saw, she slashed at it.

Xu Liangmao also arrived, beastified and sprinting like a whirlwind, wildly charging into the fray.

Pang Meiqin severed the tentacles, followed by a kick to Li Huiwen’s belly, kicking her away from the receptionist’s side. The female doctor, hiding on the periphery, watched the group fight with a glint of excitement in her eyes.

Li Huiwen’s face was scratched, but she ignored it, retching continuously, almost vomiting bile. She worried about turning into a monster.

The receptionist’s clothes were torn by tentacles that grew from under her skin. Now, aside from her two legs wrapped in silk stockings, she had completely lost her human form. Her upper body was entirely comprised of tentacles, over a dozen meters long, covered with suction tubes, disgustingly waving and flinging an extremely corrosive fluid. Wherever it splattered on the floor created pitted hollows.

Tang Zheng and the others, shielded by the defense shield, fiercely attacked the receptionist. Qin Yan and her group had also killed the alien species that ambushed them and came to support.

"Does this thing have no weaknesses?" Tang Zheng had already received the death toll through the communication and was almost furious. The newbies, the cannon fodder, died without any value. Luckily, the number restriction had already been lifted; otherwise, they’d have been annihilated.

"It is a biological disaster. Unless you can destroy its body in one blow, it can regenerate from just five grams of cells left behind," the female doctor said, knowing the enemy’s natural predator. Unfortunately, with time pressing, there was no way to search for it, and they had to force an attack.

Dong Zixuan rushed over; her magma ability was formidable, but she couldn’t use it, or it would hinder others. However, Tao Ran’s Time-space Blackfish flew out to ambush the receptionist stealthily.

Lin Jing’s shooting ability hit the target every time, but his bullets were blocked by the tentacles. Lin Fachan, wielding his weapon, joined the fray.

Qin Yan emerged from around the corner and threw the Magic Spear Thorn, piercing several of the receptionist’s tentacles. Sha Ou launched his telekinesis, noticeably slowing the tentacles’ flailing speed.

The old soldier moved in close with his Bloodthirsty Army Spike, while Ruan Feifei roamed the outskirts, her right hand whipping out a blue electric arc that struck the receptionist, charring its skin and even emitting black smoke, although the damage was not significant.

Bai Guo, in her invisibility, waited for a chance to ambush, but was instead hit by the receptionist’s wildly flailing tentacles and then crashed into others.

Acid sprayed chaotically, and some tentacles even opened compound eyes, shooting out green light beams like a laser sphere. Everywhere the beams struck, everything melted, and the Conquerors’ shields wobbled precariously.

"Be careful with the broken flesh of the alien species. Even if they detach from the body, they remain active for a short while and will seek a host to parasite on," the female doctor warned, but it was half a beat too late.

Lin Fachan was ensnared by tentacles touching his skin, and immediately the erosion began.

Mu Nianqi cut off the tentacles, freeing Lin Fachan, but his skin turned red and bumpy.

"Damn it!" Lin Fachan was decisive, reversing his military knife, ready to slice the flesh from his face.

"No need!" Gu Xueqi shot at Lin Fachan with a healing bullet that swiftly turned into a flame and spread over his skin.

The receptionist had many tentacles, and the pulling force made it difficult for everyone to fight, as if trapped in algae.

Mu Nianqi’s curved knife whirled up and down, cutting off many tentacles, but it couldn’t keep up with the pace of their growth. Qin Yan wanted to burst, but Tang Zheng stopped her.

"You all retreat, Dong Zixuan, Ruan Feifei, both of you go all out with your firepower!" Tang Zheng used Gravity Suppression to limit the receptionist’s movements and started Steel Sky.

The group stepped back. The policewoman, having been waiting for a chance to shine, at the word released her power, and the ground beneath the receptionist cracked open, with a geyser-like surge of red-hot magma shooting up, rapidly increasing the temperature nearby.

The female anchor waved her hands continuously, as thunder roared to strike the receptionist repeatedly, barring its escape route.

The Steel Sky was pressed low this time and within a small range. Kirov was brought down, but instead of dropping a heavy bomb, it guarded the outer perimeter, allowing the Orbital Cannon to show its might.

Like a Light Beam Saber, the blue-white plasma cannon vaporized the ceiling and landed on and around the receptionist, some of the touched tentacles vanishing without a trace.

"Xin Lan, confine the surroundings!" Tang Zheng stepped back, but his Warhammer occasionally swung out, blocking the receptionist’s advances. (End of current installment.
