Chapter 1304: Chapter 58: Team Battle Erupts with Casualties
"They might be having a secret meeting right now," said Tang Zheng. If he hadn’t been worried about alerting them too soon, he would have been surveilling them already, but that would undoubtedly be the most reckless approach, sure to provoke a showdown prematurely with no benefits in sight.
Tang Zheng wanted to maximize his advantage, so he hesitated somewhat.
"We can act together without splitting up!" Jing Lan unconsciously tightened her grip on her handgun, "We should move as one."
"That’s impossible. Even if we split into groups, the time to find the key is very tight," Lu Fan shook his head, "My uncle, if not to tell us this, would probably have let everyone enter through that door just now."
"Let’s just adapt as necessary!" Zhao Dongtao was about to speak when Tang Zheng cut him off.
"Quiet, someone’s coming." Tang Zheng raised his index finger to his lips, a detection spider placed on the passage ceiling indicated that Mu Nianqi was approaching.
"What are you discussing? Can you share it with me?" Queen Mu leaned against the doorframe, a curve forming at the corners of her mouth, "Are you worried about a counterfeit?"
"Everyone gather, we’re moving out!" Lin Weiguo interrupted the conversation and stepped onto the blue stone slab, calling out a few times.
The monsters lingering outside Fairy Tale Town had walked away; even if they heard, they couldn’t break in.
"How shall we split up?" Dantai did not initiate the way to split groups, fearing it might arouse suspicion.
"I, Jing Lan, Lu Fan, Dongtao, Tao Ran, and everyone else can form their own groups," Tang Zheng, who had an average impression of Dong Zixuan, thus threw her into Lin Weiguo’s group.
Old Soldier also chose a few people, all of whom were trusted. Dantai imperceptibly frowned, the other party was clearly aware, and this grouping was almost entirely original bodies.
"That works." Qin Yan nodded, walked to the door, pushed it open, and delivered the predetermined line, "Which group goes first?"
Looking at the passage made of transparent crystal, everyone fell silent. It felt like walking through a minefield, nobody knew when danger would strike and everyone hesitated to move forward.
Even Tang Zheng and Mu Nianqi, with their strong hearts, took a moment to consider, instinctive protective senses kicking in.
"The group leader should lead by example," the last of Jiang Liming’s trio, a blonde-haired lad, suggested as previously instructed.
"May I join you?" Teng Yuangxiang clung to Tang Zheng, looking pitifully at him, fully aware that without the group leader, she wouldn’t last long.
"That’s a good idea, let Tang Zheng go first," Qin Yan agreed. The Conquerors, reminded by Dantai, began to warn Tang Zheng to be cautious and secured his safety, trying to cut off any escape he might contemplate.
"No, I’ll go last," Tang Zheng waved his hand, his sudden declaration making the clones’ hearts skip a beat, nearly revealing themselves.
"Are you afraid of dying?" The blonde-haired man was apprehensive as he said this, fearing a beating.
"I’m worried some might not enter and will wait outside to reap the benefits," Tang Zheng scanned their faces, unable to detect any signs of deceit.
Lu Fan, seeing Dantai staring at him, snorted heavily and tightened his grip on Tang Zheng’s hand.
"I’ll keep an eye on them for you," Bai Guo was too eager, making Dantai and Qin Yan frown, as if saying, "If you want to die, don’t drag us down with you."
"Okay, then Mu Nianqi will go first. After all, we need a Fourth Order as the pioneer," Dantai saw that Tang Zheng was determined to be the last to go, he immediately changed tactics, better to get rid of a Fourth Order first.
"Anyway, nobody knows what’s inside. Even going first doesn’t necessarily mean it’s dangerous," Ruan Feifei stood on Tang Zheng’s side, unknowingly assisting the clone by saying so.
"It doesn’t matter," Mu Nianqi sensed the strange tension in the atmosphere and didn’t want to stay back. Since no Conquerors wanted to team up with her, she might as well go first.
Ge Cang hurried to follow, Zhao Yunwu and Sun Jingshan hesitated for a moment then chased after, with three swift-legged university students closely behind.
The other students hesitated, wanting to closely follow, but unfortunately, Dantai stopped them; he needed cannon fodder.
"Second team, who’s entering?" Dantai asked, actually wanting to delay combat, but Mu Nianqi didn’t seem to want to wait anymore, hiding in the dark, sending him messages, and most troublesome of all, Bai Guo spoke up, putting him in a tight spot.
"Group Leader, you always lead the charge in every fight, why are you holding back this time?" Bai Guo, seeing Mu Nianqi’s group crossing the cross passage, started to challenge.
"Why do you think?" Tang Zheng asked, looking amusedly at Natural Stupid, "Am I a fake?"
Jing Lan and Zhao Dongtao looked at each other, puzzled by what was happening, instinctively stepping back. If Tang Zheng was an imposter, then his previous rationale was deceiving them?
"I think you are, your behavior is too abnormal," Bai Guo was much more assertive than the original, pressing step by step.
A lack of trust spread among the team, causing Gu Xueqi and Teng Yuangxiang to hesitate.
"If I were fake, would I distribute the spoils of war?" Tang Zheng sneered coldly, and with a swift gesture, he produced the Empress’s roar.
Most of the group showed an excessive reaction by drawing their firearms and aiming at Tang Zheng.
"What’s going on? Let’s talk this out!" Xu Biyun played the mediator.
"Hmph, just as I said, it made you angry!" Bai Guo, armed with the Dragon’s Sharp Edge and the Insect Bone Cleaver, stared intently at Tang Zheng, "You must prove your innocence."
"Uncle definitely can’t be fake!" Lu Fan spread his arms in front of Tang Zheng, glaring angrily at Bai Guo, "Your brain must be damaged."
"Get out of the way!" Tang Zheng waved Lu Fan aside, feeling puzzled inside, as although they had previously verified Little Lolita’s authenticity, some of her subsequent behaviors had raised doubts, but now, she appeared to be genuinely innocent.
"What’s up with Lu Fan?" Pang Meiqin was frustrated, "Has her brain broken down?"
"Hmph, little girl, big schemer, she’s very calculating." Mu Nianqi snorted coldly, "Calling everyone to arms, the stupid Bai Guo has exposed herself, yet she’s not going invisible, just waiting to be killed?"
"Everyone, put down your guns and calm down!" Dong Zixuan, holding a gun, pointed it at Tang Zheng as she felt he was not fake, then at Bai Guo, since the policewoman was still familiar with him.
Jing Lan and Zhao Dongtao also aimed at Bai Guo.
"How can I prove it?" Tang Zheng holding a gun was not impulsive. If it were a counterfeit, they’d have prepared for this, seeing him armed would have them panicked, fearing an attack, pulling their guns first; those hesitating would clearly lag.
Ruan Feifei and Ai Yixin did just that, but Dantai seemed fake; however, his drawing his weapon was not quick, and his muzzle wavered between Bai Guo and Tang Zheng.
"Humph, playing mind games with me? You’re still a greenhorn." Dantai pretended to be deep in thought about the situation, sparing himself from rash comments, but he was inwardly mocking Tang Zheng’s incompetence, knowing that if he could not disguise it well, he’d be the primary target in the upcoming team battle.
"Is Dantai really fake or not?" Bai Guo, undoubtedly, was fake. Tang Zheng was almost triggered to pull the trigger and shoot her, but what about the special agent? The guy’s mental attacks were too tricky and could be decisive in a team fight. If he misjudged, it could spell disaster, so his primary target had to be chosen well.
"It’s simple, take off your protective clothing, let us check your body." Bai Guo asserted forcefully, annoyed by Dantai’s inaction. She knew she had been exposed, yet dared not fire since that would surely draw everyone’s fire. She hoped that Mu Nianqi, hiding in the dark with her group, would act first, pulling the fire towards them.
With everyone harboring their own schemes for their interests, the situation became stalemated.
"Okay!" Tang Zheng reached with one hand toward his collar, a spark suddenly flashing through his mind—why had they chosen now to confront him? If they fought, he could crush them by himself, they would hesitate, but now they were fearless, indicating they had reinforcements.
"Oh no, it must be another team of clones who have killed the real Bai Guo’s group and have come to join them." Tang Zheng was alarmed and without hesitation, pulled the trigger, firing at Bai Guo.
Since Dantai’s authenticity was uncertain, better to eliminate one who was confirmed to be fake.
A black energy sphere blasted from the muzzle, hurtling straight toward Bai Guo’s face. The Natural Stupid, already wary of Tang Zheng, reacted quickly, activated her shield, and went invisible, but the distance was too close, and this was an SSS-Rank weapon.
The defense shield cracked, the Moon Shield shattered, and even the Frost Defender faltered.
Tang Zheng had previously given Bai Guo considerable equipment, which now ironically turned problematic. The Natural Stupid withstood the initial attack and immediately launched a twenty-yard Frost Domain.
"They are the enemies, get inside the door!" Tang Zheng roared, all six Moon Blades flying out, covering a hundred and twenty degrees in front of the left side.
The Frost Domain erupted from beneath, inadvertently revealing Bai Guo’s approximate location.
Clang, a Moon Blade struck the invisible Bai Guo, bouncing her away. The now Hero Mode-enabled Tang Zheng instantly appeared nearby, fully activated gravity suppression, and released an intense barrage.
Bai Guo spat blood, her leg shattered, blood splattering as she was blasted out of invisibility.
"Save me!" Seeing Tang Zheng’s resolute face, Bai Guo finally realized the power of the Fourth Order; she was terrified, screaming shrilly.
"This guy is fake, kill him!" Qin Yan shouted angrily and acted, while the clones, initially planning to observe how Dantai would react, saw Mu Nianqi’s team burst from the wooden house where they were lying in ambush, and launched an attack.
The clones could no longer stay out of the affair, each unleashing their most powerful firepower, with no one daring to hold back, for a single misstep could mean death.
Ruan Feifei and Ai Yixin were taken aback as they didn’t know whom to attack.
"Don’t be impulsive, it might be a misunderstanding!" Dantai railed, trying to calm everyone down, but his mental impact spread wave after wave, attacking the original body.
"Forget about me, Jing Lan, Dong Tao, quickly get inside!" Tang Zheng, unaffected, broke through Bai Guo’s shield and shot her head into minced meat.
Half a corpse lay on the ground, becoming the first unfortunate to die in battle.
"Damn!" Dantai’s expression grew fierce, not in vain was it Hero Mode, truly crushing against Ordinary Conquerors, especially with his SSS-Rank weapon, its defense was sharp. (To be continued. If you enjoy this work, welcome to qidian.com to vote, your support is my greatest motivation.)
