Chapter 1264: Chapter 18 Death Shadow
Shen Qingshuang had entered the game later than the female anchor, with poor equipment and minimal physical enhancements. Although he had activated the Mechanical Godfather’s ability, it was purely supportive, with pitifully low attack power. If he could have had a burst of strength, he might have lasted a few seconds longer, but sadly, he couldn’t achieve that.
The female anchor inherently possessed powerful offensive abilities. Even without a burst of strength, she consistently ranked in the top five of her team, and at this moment, she completely overpowered Shen Qingshuang.
"Die!" Ruan Feifei’s fingers splayed open, and this time, blue electric fish surged along her entire arm as if alive, swarming towards him as he tried to retreat and dodge.
Without any suspense, a voltage of one million volts spread across Shen Qingshuang’s body, breaking through his defense shield.
With a snap, the female anchor grabbed Shen Qingshuang’s cheek. The stray electric fish formed an electric net that enveloped him, even burrowing into his nostrils and piercing his eardrums. His head erupted in blood from every orifice, his short hair stood on end, and black smoke billowed from it.
In just a second, Shen Qingshuang turned into a burnt, black chunk, emitting a burnt stench.
Li Xinlan swung her knife at Ruan Feifei, who tossed a corpse to block it, then retreated explosively, smart enough not to confront the older woman head-on.
At the same time, Xu Liangmao pursued Teng Little Three, but as he passed by Pang Meiqin, his legs powered him in a sudden change of direction, propelling him forward. The veins in his arm holding the curved knife bulged as he gnashed his teeth and slashed at the Beautiful Leg Stewardess’s neck.
"What are you doing?" Pang Meiqin’s expression tightened, blocking the strike with the Demon Ripper, but not counterattacking, although Xu Liangmao was relentless, ducking and slashing at her waist.
"Seeking death!" Pang Meiqin had no friendship with the miserable man; they had exchanged fewer than ten words. She wasn’t on the offensive, but rather out of respect for Tang Zheng. Now, seeing Xu Liangmao’s fierce look, clearly intent on putting her to death, she no longer held back.
Bang, the Ripper clashed with Xu Liangmao’s curved knife, sparks flying; it repelled him. Pang Meiqin charged forward, her left hand pulling out Hell’s Song and firing. The Explosive arrow imbued with a red halo peppered Xu Liangmao’s defense shield, shattering it in the blink of an eye.
Bang, bang, bullets struck Xu Liangmao’s flesh, rending it into minced meat. Were it not for his beastly state enhancing his durability, he would have been pulverized.
"No!" Tang Zheng’s shout came too late as Pang Meiqin’s Ripper slashed into Xu Liangmao’s shoulder. The serrated blade tore through skin and flesh, embedding into his chest cavity, mutilating his internal organs.
Pang Meiqin withdrew her knife, kicking away Xu Liangmao’s corpse and warily watching the other Conquerors, yet her eyes couldn’t help but drift towards Tang Zheng, waiting for his decision.
"I can’t take it anymore!" After being injected with the Combat Pandora and receiving powerful equipment from Major Qin, Pang Meiqin had been eager to prove her value and alter her image in the eyes of others — no longer as someone who only knew how to flee and slack off.
For the murderously inclined Xu Liangmao, he had to die for Pang Meiqin ever to feel safe; his potential future betrayal was a risk she couldn’t afford. Displaying her strength could also shut up those who underestimated her.
"Go help Brother Lin intercept the Skeletons, and I’ll deal with you later!" Tang Zheng roared, his face iron blue.
"It was those university students who started it, and Shen Qingshuang and An Fei!" Teng Little Three ran to Tang Zheng’s side, tears streaking her face as she blamed others to exonerate herself.
"Get lost!" Tang Zheng slapped Teng Yuanxiang across the face. The force was so great that it even split her lip. Looking at the corpses on the ground, he couldn’t help but feel enraged, especially seeing Li Xinlan and Ruan Feifei still at a standoff.
"Tang Zheng, please calm them down." Song Xin, good-hearted, couldn’t bear to see them fighting among themselves, hoping to settle things amicably.
Tao Ran tugged at her, knowing the idea was unrealistic.
Gu Xueqi stayed silent, not meddling, but focused on defending and fighting the Skeletons. She didn’t want to take sides at such a time; no matter what, it would offend someone, and she vaguely felt that something was off with the team.
"What are you staring at? Get to fighting. Anyone caught in-fighting, I will personally kill!" Tang Zheng bellowed, forcing himself to calm down. He couldn’t understand it — there were definitely problems within the team, but they shouldn’t erupt over such a minor crisis, nor should they escalate to lethal conflict.
"So many doubts!" Tang Zheng glanced at the several corpses, his mind a mess. He had some inklings but couldn’t quite grasp them, and the chaotic combat didn’t allow him time to think.
Tang Zheng was highly respected, even Dantai, didn’t dare confront him, fighting diligently.
"Dantai, Xin Lan, Qin Yan, Teng Yuanxiang, be the vanguard, break out of this area!" Tang Zheng adjusted their formation, commanding from the center. Under his supervision, no one dared to slack off, and finally, the team began to advance quickly.
"Looks like there’s no problem now!" Tang Zheng struck down a Skeleton, not letting his guard down.
Five minutes later, Tang Zheng and his group shook off the pursuit of the Skeleton Group and rested on an open patch of land. The newbies were exhausted like dogs, hungry and thirsty, and bearing the depressive and resentful atmosphere of having lost teammates.
"Jing Xiang, Xueqi, distribute some food to everyone." Tang Zheng pulled out two large backpacks and dropped them to the ground, remembering they had captured a few Light Defense Shields, he quickly distributed them to Song Xin and others.
"I’ll do it; Jing Xiang is injured." Tao Ran voluntarily took over the task. The newbies lacked insight, but at least after receiving the food and water, they thanked them. Of course, some stubbornly refused to accept charity.
"Don’t eat it then." Gu Xueqi wasn’t about to coddle them.
"Teng Yuanxiang, Pang Meiqin, Ruan Feifei, Li Xinlan, come here, explain what happened just now!" Tang Zheng’s voice carried anger, fearing that the team might collapse.
Li Xinlan remained cold-faced and silent, Pang Meiqin also acted haughty. Teng Yuanxiang, however, was eager to respond, hoping to lessen her responsibility.
Tang Zheng eyed the expressions of the three women, then looked at the others. He remained silent, attempting to connect the suspicions into a line, but his thoughts were interrupted.
"Who is it?" Lin Weiguo, who was on guard, was very alert, pointing his gun to the right. The others stood up as if facing a great enemy and picked up their weapons.
"It’s me, Uncle!" Lu Fan, riding a giant spider, burst out of the woods, leapt onto Tang Zheng, and smacked a kiss on his lips. "Eh, how come there are fewer people? Did someone get lost?"
"No, how did you three meet? Didn’t get lost?" Tang Zheng looked towards Ai Yixin, while Lu Taijiang hurriedly smiled awkwardly, looking unnatural.
Lu Fan quickly explained, her eyes brimming with spirit roving over her teammates. She had noticed that big trouble had brewed during her absence.
"Yixin, killing Sha Ou, what are your thoughts?" Tang Zheng stared at the housewife with an unfriendly gaze, doing it on purpose.
"If I had to do it over, I would act the same way." Ai Yixin fell silent for a moment, biting her lip, without lying.
"And you, during the time you were lost, did you make any unexpected gains?" Tang Zheng walked over to Lu Taijiang, looking down at him from above.
"No, nothing!" Lu Taijiang pretended to be calm. Initially wanting to meet Tang Zheng’s gaze, he only managed a glance before the other’s pitch-dark, piercing eyes made him lose courage and shift his gaze nervously away.
"Really? Look at me." Shifting one’s gaze away was a normal reaction, but Tang Zheng still needed to probe further.
"Yes!" Concerned he might slip up the more he said, Lu Taijiang simply grunted affirmatively and looked towards Tang Zheng, his face turning into a bitter gourd.
"What year are you in university? Do you have a sister?" As Tang Zheng stretched out his hand, Lu Taijiang instinctively moved back but was caught by the shoulder.
"Answer the question!" Tang Zheng drew a straight knife, spinning it between his fingers, maintaining the pressure.
"Sophomore, no sister." As soon as Lu Taijiang finished speaking, Tang Zheng’s questions continued, forcing him to continue responding. The knife seemed ready to stab his face at any moment, making him very nervous.
"The ghost bride is quite beautiful, isn’t she?" Tang Zheng asked suddenly, following the momentum.
"Yes!" After Lu Taijiang responded, he realized what he had said, and immediately a cold sweat soaked through his undershirt as he hurriedly added, "Eh? What bride?"
"Need a soul?" Tang Zheng was already sure this guy had issues.
"I don’t know what you are talking about? Chairman, it’s great that you’re all okay." Lu Taijiang tried to change the subject, but to no avail.
"Still playing dumb? Die!" Tang Zheng swung his knife, stabbing towards Lu Taijiang’s chest.
"This is fake, he’s testing me!" Lu Taijiang didn’t want to reveal himself, but as soon as the pain from his skin hit him, he couldn’t help it and swung a fist towards Tang Zheng’s jaw, while simultaneously sidestepping to dodge the blade.
Snap, Tang Zheng caught Lu Taijiang’s fist.
"You’re quite strong, aren’t you? Ordinary people don’t have this level!" Tang Zheng sneered, sheathed his knife, and smashed his hand into his face. He wanted to capture a prisoner and extract everything about the ghost bride.
Lu Taijiang’s face contorted fero.ITIONAL> he raised his throat bone while blowing a whistle. The knight slaves immediately emerged from the ground, charging at him.
The university students, seeing Tang Zheng bullying an alumnus, felt resentful, especially after he pulled a knife. They wanted to stop him, but the sudden scene before their eyes left them stunned.
Pang Meiqin and Lu Fan pounced forward, attacking the ghost knights, while Tao Ran’s Time-space Blackfish and Gu Xueqi’s Flame Phoenix also came flying in.
Tang Zheng kicked Lu Taijiang in the abdomen, flipping him over, and gravity suppression descended, slowing the knights’ attacks and dragging their bodies toward the ground.
Tang Zheng calmly walked out, secretly observing his teammates with the corner of his eye. As expected, there were many issues.
"Aren’t you going to surrender yet?" Lin Weiguo and Xu Biyun had already lunged out, attacking Lu Taijiang.
"Bad luck, how did you discover it?" Lu Taijiang, defiant despite his misfortune, had his muscles swell and transformed into a three-meter-tall monster, struggling desperately.
"You have too many holes in your story, but even if there weren’t any problems, I wouldn’t intend to keep you!" Lu Taijiang was just unlucky. If it had been any other time, Tang Zheng certainly wouldn’t have seen through him, but who could blame him when the team was full of suspicions, and he had become overly suspicious, deciding to dispose of him even at the cost of losing five hundred points.
Tang Zheng had a vague idea, but dared not articulate it; if his reasoning was correct, it would spell a team annihilation crisis.
Everything was going awry, making Lin Weiguo so agitated he had nowhere to vent. Now faced with a punching bag, he was not courteous, hammering the demon-transformed Lu Taijiang brutally.
