Chapter 1147: Chapter 30: Invasion
The railcar traveled down the sloping track, the airflow streamed through the window, filling the carriage with whooshing sounds. Every flash from the ceiling lights left a residual visual effect that seemed to dim the surroundings briefly.
Liu Binshi and his two colleagues were coal miners, accustomed to the harsh underground environment, so they remained calm, showing no discomfort. Tang Zheng, having even experienced the Dead Bug Starship, considered this a minor scenario. However, the same could not be said for the other newbies; not to mention Li Zhilian, who was scared half to death, even Kong Licheng’s breathing became a bit heavy.
"Gao Ming, come here, keep an eye on the passage," Tang Zheng said as he put down his backpack, arranged his equipment, and changed to a full ammo clip.
"Have you experienced games more terrifying than this before?" Dong Zixuan asked, noticing Tang Zheng’s composed demeanor as if dealing with this was just as ordinary as eating.
"It’s just zombies, you call this terrifying?" Tang Zheng took out chocolate, but seeing the bloodstains on his hand, he worried about virus infection and chose not to eat it.
"There’s someone." Before Gao Ming finished shouting, everyone heard a bang—the railcar collided with a zombie, and a torrent of fresh blood splattered through the window.
The carriage instantly became chaotic; the newbies all stood up, backed away, and aimed their muzzles at the window.
"Don’t shoot," Gao Ming turned around only to see several muzzles pointing his way, nearly scaring him to death, and he hastily dodged to the side.
Because of the downward movement, the zombie wasn’t flung away but instead stuck to the carriage wall. The virus gave it tremendous vitality; as long as its head wasn’t smashed, it wouldn’t die. Thus, it shrieked, reaching its arms through the window, attempting to grab its prey.
Click-clack, Dong Zixuan operated the tactical handguard, then took a few steps forward and fired a shot. The shotgun turned the zombie into a sieve. Seeing it still hanging outside, the policewoman fired another shot.
The railcar jolted, and the newbies realized it was caused by the wheels running over the zombie’s body. They looked back and saw the zombie squashed into three sections.
"Slow down, we must be getting close," Tang Zheng quickly stood up, guessing the passage was nearing its end, and hurriedly issued a reminder.
Kong Licheng grabbed the handle, reduced the speed to the lowest, and as the friction of the wheels against the rail sounded, the railcar came to a stop.
"Prepare for combat," Dong Zixuan lowered her voice. Since there were zombies in the passage, there were likely just as many outside.
All the newbies raised their firearms, aiming at the iron gate.
Kong Licheng nodded, grabbed the handle, and yanked it to the side, pulling the door open.
This was the largest underground laboratory and factory of Anlanke Pharmaceutical company in the world, where special medications were developed and produced. Tang Zheng’s squad was currently in the transfer warehouse where the finished products were brought before being transported to the surface via the railcar.
As the door opened, everyone saw many boxes piled up together, with no zombies in sight.
"You’re making a mountain out of a molehill, relax a bit." Hu Hong also wanted to show off, but he didn’t move his feet.
"If you’re not scared, then you take the lead," Kong Licheng scoffed, tired of people who only knew how to talk big.
"I’m no coward, but I can’t always be at the front, can I?" Hu Hong wasn’t foolish.
"Ha, you talk as if you’ve been putting in a lot of effort. Don’t forget, you’ve just been hanging back this whole time," Kong Licheng, seeing the young man daring to talk back, grimaced and prepared to teach him a lesson.
"Two-man teams, taking turns as the pioneer, switch every ten minutes. Long Face, Hu Hong, you two go first," Tang Zheng interrupted their bickering, providing a solution. "Don’t waste time, act quickly."
Long Face dared not retort, only spitting to express his dissatisfaction. As he was about to step out of the carriage, he noticed three zombies emerging from behind a box, heading towards the carriage, and immediately halted.
"It must be the noise from stopping that attracted them," Hu Liwen realized belatedly, playing her smart tricks, because seeing not many zombies, she raised her AA12 gun, pulled the trigger, and provided an excuse to others for not exerting effort by intending to kill a few zombies.
Bang, bang, Liu Miao and Li Xizhu, out of fear, also fired, but they forgot they were inside the carriage, and the tremendous echo was excruciating, causing everyone immediately to cover their ears, their faces contorted.
With such loud noise, all zombies were alerted and began running over.
"Want to get us killed?" Kong Licheng’s ears rang sharply, almost wishing he could kill these three troublemakers.
"Move now!" Tang Zheng didn’t wait any longer, kicked Long Face’s buttocks, sending him out of the carriage, and Kong Licheng was about to do the same to Hu Hong, who, seeing the impending kick, jumped down himself.
Long Face, face covered in grime, scrambled up and regardlessly fired his gun at the zombies, but sadly, all shots missed their targets.
"Keep quiet, let’s move," Tang Zheng, thinking other zombies might soon swarm them, shot down these three and urged everyone to move, but he worried excessively.
Anlanke owned dozens of such warehouses, and their automation level was quite high, so only twenty skilled workers were needed, and they resolved the situation within five minutes.
"Gone?" Zheng Sheng gradually calmed down and started to exert himself, and with his status as Tang Zheng’s classmate, felt he had a right to speak.
"Such a hassle, I knew I shouldn’t have worn the police uniform; it’s really troublesome." Hu Liwen, worried about being talked about, shifted the topic in advance while also emphasizing her police identity.
Everyone’s gaze shifted, and they saw Hu Liwen drenched in sweat from lots of movement, her uniform soaked and clinging wrinkly to her body.
"What are you looking at? Haven’t you seen a woman before?" Hu Liwen pinched the collar of her blouse, continuously pulling it to fan herself. Because of the large movements, her fair chest and even the edge of her underwear were visible.
With a long face, Kro swallowed his saliva, his gaze made its way down; Hu Liwen’s police skirt hugged her buttocks, and one could even see traces of her panties. Her legs were encased in black stockings, which looked damp from sweat. She had taken off her high-heels and was standing on tiptoes, flexing her sore toes.
Dong Zixuan was in a better state than Hu Liwen, though there was a hole in her stockings, revealing a patch of thigh skin, and sweat dripped continuously from her cheeks.
In terms of appearance and figure, Hu Liwen was just an average person, so after a few men glanced at her, their gaze settled on Dong Zixuan.
Dong Zixuan didn’t care; anyhow, she wasn’t showing any skin, and every time she wore the uniform on duty, people sneaked looks at her, even within the police station, so she was used to it.
"What are you looking at? Disperse, check the surroundings," Kong Licheng cursed, stepping out.
The newbies cursed Kong Licheng in their hearts, dispersed, but with a long face, his mind filled with visions of the policewoman’s buttocks, wishing he could kiss them a few times, he followed the two women, frequently ogling their bodies. The other newbies followed Tang Zheng because even a fool knew it was safest by his side.
"What are you doing? Didn’t you hear me? Disperse, quickly," Kong Licheng felt ignored and was very angry.
"Wen Xiao, stay with me, everyone else spread out." Since Wen Xiao was a girl, she would be scared; naturally, Tang Zheng needed to take extra care of her, "Zheng Sheng, you team up with Yu Miao and Liu Miao, keep it down."
"Understood," Zheng Sheng nodded, showing himself to be a responsible young man.
Tang Zheng didn’t want the others wandering aimlessly, so he rushed towards the warehouse exit first to make sure it was safe. Then, he saw a desk nearby with two computers on it.
Tang Zheng walked over, glanced at the screen, and quickly typed on the keyboard, checking the origins of this pharmaceutical factory.
"Your computer skills are amazing?" Wen Xiao, idle and feeling the atmosphere too tense, greeted Tang Zheng.
"Skills I bought. Before university, I was completely computer-illiterate." As various data flashed across the screen, Tang Zheng quickly browsed.
On the Trojan List, the only limit to what you could buy, is what you can’t imagine; although Tang Zheng was not good with computers, having purchased hacker skills, he was definitely an expert now.
"It would be good if Shen Qingshuang were here, huh? Someone has already breached Anlanke’s defenses?" Looking at the ragged system, Tang Zheng’s brow furrowed deeper, the more unknown the enemy, the more terrifying. "Which Group Leader could it be? No, it could also be Eastern Europe’s anti-government militias or other enemies. It seems the virus cultivated by this company has attracted many powers."
"Any discoveries?" Dong Zixuan, having found nothing else, came over to ask Tang Zheng.
"At least we don’t have to worry about the virus here." Tang Zheng had hacked into this laboratory and discovered that the biochemical defense system was fully activated and was sterilizing; he wanted to take control of some cameras to check inside the laboratory, but he couldn’t, someone had detected his system intrusion and had expelled him.
"Trouble." Looking at the garbled codes appearing on the screen, Tang Zheng was super frustrated, "I’m really not good at this."
"You’ve done well enough already." Dong Zixuan sighed, "Let’s go, find the Virus Strain before someone else beats us to it."
"No, if I can’t use the defense system, neither can anyone else." Tang Zheng failed to crack the hacker’s methods, but smashing things was still possible, so he directly destroyed the Central Computer so that no one could gain the advantage through it.
"You handle this; we’ll scout ahead." Dong Zixuan looked back, "Long face, Hu Hong, your ten minutes haven’t started yet."
"Alright, Old Hu, come over quickly." Long face was staring at the policewoman’s stocking-clad legs intently; startled by her words, he then didn’t want to look weak, hastily called Hu Hong.
The newbies dared not really scatter to search; they all stayed not far from there, so they quickly gathered together again.
Long face peered out; the outside was like a spider web, a fifty-meter-long metal-built passage reflecting shadows.
"Which way?" After Hu Hong asked, he realized he’d played the fool—there was a map, so he quickly glanced at it.
"Wen Xiao, you don’t have to stay with Tang Zheng; you’ll only slow him down from catching up," Kong Licheng didn’t agree with Wen Xiao staying behind.
"Forget it, she won’t make much difference." Dong Zixuan persuaded, after all, Wen Xiao was Tang Zheng’s classmate, and he deserved some respect. (To be continued. If you like this work, we invite you to vote for and recommend it at qidian.com. Your support is my greatest motivation.)
